*Yuka's POV*
Oh.
My.
Dear.
Kamisama.
Silence surrounded the air around myself and Matt, the only sound to be heard was the blood dripping from the knife held in that murdering-perverted-!@#hole's hand. I quivered in fear as I hid myself behind Matt's sturdy body. He stiffened, sensing my fright, and took a step towards Kizami.
"Who the heck are you?!" Matt practically snarled at the threatening blood-stained man. Then, turnign to me, he asked in a softer, sweeter voice, "How do you know him?"
I whispered quietly, "He tried to kill me last time... Last time I was here..." My eyes then widened, "Don't go near him! That man is insane!" I grabbed onto his arm, forcing him to look at me. "Don't you dare leave me alone here, Matt. It's better if we just run for now."
Matt's eyes softened slightly, but only for a moment.
"Are you done talking to him, Yuka-chan? Your onii-chan has been waiting for years and years and years for you to return, you know~!" Kizami spoke in a whimsical-like tone, but the cruel, cold-hearted voice was still there. I'd know...
"You're not my brother!" I yelled out, "You never have, and you never will be!" My anger flared. How dare he speak to me like that?! I raged in my thoughts.
"How cold..." Kizami began approaching me, but stopped once he saw Matt move me further behind him. "And who would this be?" He asked, glancing at Matt.
In a small, clear voice, I murmured, "He's my boyfriend." Even in a dangerous and slightly awkward place like this, a still couldn't resist the blush that settled on my face. What can I say? I was head-over-heels for this amazingly sweet boy.
"..." Kizami looked, for the first time, rather confused. It was like he was actually having conflicted feelings about me having a boyfriend, somewhat similar to the feelings of an actual older brother.
But, of course, this is a legitimate psychopath we're talking about here.
"Eh...? I suppose I'll just have to protect you both then," A sadistic smile formed across Kizami's face, consuming whatever lingering emotions he had at the time. He picked up Yami's knife, splattered in blood, and started to walk towards us. Matt backed away, me quickly following him.
Unfortunately, though...
Kizami was a smart man.
Backing us up in a corner was a very smart decision on Kizami's part, I'll give him that. Matt still forced me behind him, even though I was the one who had decided to take martial arts classes a few years after I'd returned home from Heavenly Host. I didn't want to be so easily controlled by someone like Kizami ever again, and I was determined to make sure something of the sort never happened to me again. ((A/N: I'm sorry if you don't like ninja Yuka, this was a plot decision decided by me with a friend's opinion AAAAAGES ago. I wasn't about to change it.))
"Matt, I'm the black belt here," I tried to shove him aside, "Let me through!"
"No," Matt's eyes glinted, startling me with the stubborn and oddly heroic expression, "Your brother would kill me if I let you get hurt."
Oh.
That's why he was protecting me.
-_-"
"My brother isn't the problem right now!" I yelled at the top of my lungs, "You heard Yoshikazu earlier! He said that he 'can't kill this one'. That means that he couldn't attack me!"
"And you think this man is any different?!" Matt yelled back, silencing me, "How do you know that the rule applies to all the ghosts?! What if it only stops the school's original ghosts from attacking?!"
The fury that filled the room was so thick that it could've been sliced with a butter knife.
Finally Matt spoke once more, so quietly that I could barely hear him. "I couldn't forgive myself if you got killed, Yuka," Matt's brown eyes crashed onto my own blue ones, startling me with the intensity of the look he was giving me.
All the while, Kizami looked on with interest. I guess he didn't really care about the argument, and was only staying quiet because he was amused by our quarrel. Eventually, though, he seemed to be getting tired of our bickering, and spoke in a deep, dark tone, "Oi. You two done yet?"
I shot him a quick glare before returning my gaze to Matt. Standing on my tip-toes, I gave him a light kiss on the cheek before saying, "Don't die, okay?" Matt's eyes widened before nodding, not responding.
"Stay away from us," Matt growled, "We'll leave here as long as you swear to leave us alone." His voice was strong, unwavering and confident. Quite frankly, it was unlike him.
"I can't possibly stay away from my little sister," Kizami replied with whimsy, "This is our reunion, and we haven't seen eachother in so long! How could I be torn away so quickly?"
I felt like slamming my face into a table. Mattaku, this man is an idiot... Remind me why I trusted him when I was 14?
"Kizami isn't a man to be reasoned with, Matt," I whispered into his ear, "He's a psychopath. I don't even think that the school is the thing that drove him to insanity..."
Matt only nodded before speaking once more, trying to convince the man, "Please, just let us go for now. Give us a chance to run and hide, and we won't bother you again!" His voice was calm as he spoke, but wavered slightly at the end of his sentence. Internally, I face-palmed. You'll only show weakness if you do that, baka-boyfriend!
"I refuse." Kizami's expression was no longer amused, but instead beginning to become angered. It appeared that Matt's constant pleading was starting to rub off on his nerves. I was immediately fearful- If Kizami was angered at Matt, then it could the death for him- no, both of us.
Matt grasped my hand in his, backing further into our little corner of despair and probable death. Kizami approached with each step we took, his grin widening as he walked.
"Yuuuka-chaaaan~! Come to onii-chaaaan~!" Kizami cooed, rather creepy of him, calling out my name. I tucked my face into Matt's shoulder, trying (and failing) to hide myself.
"Yuka, if you have the chance," Matt murmured, "RUN!" He yelled, and sprinted towards Kizami. My eyes widened as I registered his actions. Acting on instinct, I started to flee, but before I got far, I turned around to see Matt dodging a slash from Kizami's knife.
"Matt, get out of there!" I screeched, "He'll kill you in seconds if you're not careful!"
Matt didn't respond, and instead dodged a slice to the throat. A dribble of blood dripped from a cut on his face, causing Kizami's maniacal smile to widen and the insane look in his eyes grow even more insane.
Matt's death was sudden.
One moment, he was easily dodging Kizami's cuts at him, and the next... A knife was stabbed into his lower chest. His stomach was pierced, sliced all the way through his torso. My eyes widened as time began to slow down. Matt's limp body fell to the floor, blood splashing in copious amounts from the wound. His eyes rolled to meet mine, almost lifeless, as he reached his arm out to me. I fell to my knees and reached back, but by the time I even got close to his hand...
He was gone.
"MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATT!" I screamed, my voice filled with sorrow. Tears streamed down my face. My boyfriend had been murdered, right in front of my eyes. Was it not three minutes ago that I kissed him on the cheek and told him not to die? Was it not only a few moments ago that I had been holding his hand as he stood in front of me, protecting me from the man I feared the most?
I ran up to Matt, ignoring the b@stard standing in front of his body, and cradled his head in my arms. Despair washed over me like burning-hot water, drowning me in pain. Tears dripped onto his face as I closed his eyes, never to see the world again.
"Matt, you bloody liar..." I whispered, "You said you weren't going to die... You said you weren't going to leave me here all alone!" My voice steadily rose to a screech.
Kizami smirked at me, then disappeared. My body filled with rage as I started screeching curses at the man who had killed the love of my life.
Eventually, I fell asleep, my exhaustion overtaking me, as I rested my head on Matt's blood-covered chest.
*Yoshiki's POV*
"Did you hear that?" I asked Ayumi, who was standing next to me, "It sounded like... Yuka?!"
"Really?!" Ayumi was alert, "Let's go, then!"
The two of us rushed to the area where we swore Yuka was screaming and slammed open the door that we had heard her voice.
The room..... Was astonishing.
While the majority of it was like the rest of Heavenly Host, the floorboards here were stained in blood.
Fresh blood.
Matt's blood.
Yuka was fast asleep on Matt's chest, dried tears streaked across her cheeks. I looked upon the scene with sadness- Yuka would most likely never get over Matt's death for the rest of her life, and would most likely blame herself for it. Unfortunately, though, there was nothing we could do now. Matt was... gone.
I picked up Yuka and looked to Ayumi, who walked over to Matt's body. She pulled out a needle and thread, and carefully stitched up the wound on his stomach. She didn't do it because she believed he could possibly be alive, but for sentimental value. Neither of us wanted to see the gaping hole in his torso any longer... And by leaning him up against a wall, it was almost like he was sleeping, not dead.
"Poor Yuka..." I heard Ayumi whisper, "To lose a love like this..." I nodded in agreement, staying silent. Praying that Matt wouldn't be in pain in the afterlife, I carried Yuka out of the room, Ayumi following.
*Unknown POV*
"Oi, you!" I walked up to the dead body, whose wound had been carefully sewn and had his back propped up against a wall, "Are you really dead?"
No response.
I rolled my eyes, and grabbed the corpse, tossing him over my shoulder. Part of me wondered if he would wake up again, but another part of me wondered where this compassion had come from. It was completely unlike me... I didn't approve of the emotion.
...But, for whatever reason...
I had brought the body of the boyfriend of my precious little sister with me to the second wing of the school.
