"God, this is so stupid." Yelena grumbled as Onyankopon and her sat in the man's house, inside his bedroom Infront of a mirror as he Combed back her short blonde hair.

Onyankopon smacked the comb against her head, making her growl lowly.

"We don't say Gods name in vain, Yelena." He said sternly.

The blonde rolled her eyes, slouching in the chair she was seated in.

"I don't understand why I can't just approach her as myself. Not this weird modified version of me." Yelena had a small, almost unnoticeable, pout on her lips.

Onyankopon sighed "well, the normal you is scary and unapproachable."

She looked at him through the mirror then looked at her hair, which was now out and away from her face, revealing her forehead. "And this me isn't? I look like a guy even more now."

The man behind her rolled his eyes at her arguing. "You need to get dressed up anyways. There's going to be a celebration tonight about the first few railroad tracks being built here on Paradis, so you need to look nice either way."

Yelena opened her mouth to counter him, but he interrupted her.

"And no, you can't just ditch. First of all, you're supposed to be there since the railroads were your idea in the first place, and second, we have a chance at getting you and Y/N closer tonight, so we're going to take it."

Onyankopon finished with Yelena's hair, pushing some of it back into her face while tucking the rest behind her ear.

(THERES A DRAWING AT THE END OF THE CHAPTER THAT I MADE OF WHAT THIS WOULD LOOK LIKE)

Never in a thousand years would Yelena ever consider herself hot, but when she saw her own reflection staring back at her, she reconsidered.

"Do you have any other clothes besides your military uniform and your suit?" Onyankopon asked, now rummaging through the things in his closet.

Yelena shrugged "don't know."

Onyankopon sighed then tossed something at her from his closet.

She looked down at what had landed in her lap, seeing a pair of black suspenders and a necktie.

The blonde rose an eyebrow at the man.

He rolled his eyes "you're wearing those tonight, so remove your jacket, and I'll help put them on."

Yelena sighed, standing up.

This was all so unnecessary...

The celebration was being held at the pier, with Niccolo having made a whole bunch of new foods that Sasha was already shoving in her mouth, on the verge of tears.

It was made explicitly clear by Captain Levi to Yelena, that even though Eren was here, she and the other Volunteers weren't to go anywhere near him, and that he was being guarded.

In all honesty, Yelena didn't have the slightest concern about that right now, as her eyes were trailing everywhere to see if she could spot the only person she was looking for at the moment.

Onyankopon tapped her on the arm, making her look down at him.

He pointed in front of the both of them, and Yelena followed his finger.

There you were, trying to currently grab a lobster out of Sasha's mouth in a panic.

And damn, if it wasn't the most amusing thing she's ever seen.

"Sasha you're gonna choke yourself! Stop!" You yelled, trying to rip the already torn apart crustacean out of her hands.

It was hanging out of her mouth, drool foaming at the corners as you and Connie held her hands behind her back while she held a crazed look in her brown eyes.

"Niccolo, control your girlfriend, please!!" You wailed.

The blonde man looked up from the plate he was setting on the table, his cheeks red. "She's not my girlfriend!"

"Still! Help us!" Connie tried grabbing the lobster again, only for Sasha to growl at him.

"Careful! She bites!" Jean said from the other side of the table, laughing at your's and Connie's struggle.

You glared at the taller man "oh, you wanna come over and help us, Jean-Boy?!"

Jean stood up from where he was sitting, slamming his hands on the table "the hell did you say to me, Shortstack?!"

You grinned at him in a mocking way "what are you gonna do, kick me?! Why don't you go eat some hay, it might make you feel better if you're so hungry, Horse Face!"

Jean rolled the sleeves of his shirt up his arms, ready to fight.

You chuckled darkly at him "oh-ho-ho, it is SO on!"

Before you and Jean could leap across the table at eachother, both of you were grabbed and pulled back.

Captain Levi held the back of your collar while Hange held Jean's.

"That's enough, you two. This is supposed to be a celebration, not a free for all." Levi said in a stern voice.

You and Jean sighed "yes, Captain." You both said at he same time.

Yelena found herself chuckling under her breath at the scene, making Onyankopon look up at her.

He placed the hand in the middle of her back, pushing forward.

She looked back at him with a scowl, while he just smiled and gestured for her to move.

The blonde took a deep breath before walking towards all of you and behind Sasha.

Jean glanced at her and rolled his eyes not so subtly.

"Someone's dressed up." He muttered quite rudely.

All of you side-eyed her with a look of distrust, besides Sasha and Niccolo, making her inhale a sharp breath through her nose before she plastered on a light smile.

"Niccolo's food sure is rather exotic tonight, huh? I personally haven't had a chance to try it yet" god, how much Yelena hated small talk.

Connie rose a brow "uh, I guess. Can we help you?"

She took a small step back and shook her head "nope, just curious about what you were all up to. I saw what happened and wanted to make sure you all, and Sasha, were ok. So, now that I've done that, I'm gonna go." She turned on her heel and walked away, making you and the other Scouts look at her with a strange look.

"Man, not only is she freakishly tall, she's also weird as hell." Connie muttered.

Everyone else, including you, all let out a noise of agreement.

Unfortunately for them, she heard what had been said.

Yelena walked back towards Onyankopon with her hands placed stiffly at her sides, her fists clenched.

He face palmed and looked up at her with a confused and shocked expression.

"What happened?! I thought you were going to go over there and make conversation with her!" He said, making the blonde roll her eyes.

"I panicked and got cold feet!" She whisper shouted.

Onyankopon let out a dramatic sigh "since when do you of all people, the same woman who has never hesitated to shoot someone in the head if they so much as looked at you in a weird way, ever get cold feet?!"

She shrugged, running her hand over the bottom half of her face before letting out a soft whine.

"I can't do this, I can't tell her. I saw the way she and the others looked at me, and it wasn't good. If she already doesn't trust me, what the hell is going to make her ever want to date me? This whole thing was doomed from the start." Yelena sat down at the edge of the pier, her long legs hanging off and above the sea water.

Onyankopon placed a hand on her shoulder "it could still work out."

She shrugged his hand off "you're way too optimistic and it shows. If you think she'll like me, then you're just stupid."

He sat next to her "well, good thing I'm not stupid then."

Yelena side-eyed him, before looking out at the horizon, where the sun was starting to set.

"What did you have in mind this time?"

~~~
Yelena's whole body seemed to be buzzing with nervousness as she held a single rose in her hand. She was waiting on the shoreline of the beach, where she had asked you to meet her via an anonymous note.
She heard footsteps in the sand, and turned, watching as shock overtook your features.
"You're the one that asked me here?" You said.
The blonde hesitantly nodded.
You sighed and crossed your arms. "what do you want?"
Yelena looked down at the rose in her hand, then back up at you before sighing and dropping her arms to her side.
"I'm not one to drag things out for too long, so I'm gonna keep this mildly simple. I like you, alot. I only just realized, and I can't get you out of my head. It's fine if you don't-".
Yelena's sentence was interrupted by your laughter, making her freeze.
"What's so funny?" She asked.
You doubled over, holding your stomach as you took in deep inhales of air to calm yourself.
You let out one final laugh before looking up at the tall woman.
"Are you fucking kidding me? That's what you called me out here for?! That's so stupid!"
Yelena's lips parted as she felt a light stinging in her eyes "what do you mean?".
"You actually thought I'd return your stupid feelings?! You're fucking weird! Not only that, you stare at me like a damn vulture! No wonder you're so fucking mental! I'd be the crazy one to ever love you!" You felt tears prick at the corners of your eyes as you laughed.
It was almost as if her whole world was shattering. Her throat was closing up, and it burned. Everything fucking burned.
Yelena closed her fist around the rose, the thorns breaking the skin of her palm and fingers. Her breathing became erratic.
You let out one last laugh then looked at her and scowled, turning to leave.
"Don't ever waste my time again. Oh, better yet, don't ever talk to me again."
And with that, you left.
Yelena felt her legs give out on her as she fell to the sandy ground. The rose, along with her own blood, falling down her hands.
She didn't know when it started, but she felt the warm liquid falling down her cheeks as she held back a choked sob.
Letting out her frustration, Yelena began tearing the rose apart. Each petal falling to the ground as a sick reminder of her foolishness.
If only she didn't let herself fall so far. But, at this point, the hole was already dug deep.
