My entire being ignites when I looked upon you today. The way you lay on the picnic blanket, beaming up at the sign to add warmth your already beautiful self.
You spoke to me with words so hushed that I often mistook it for the soft breeze on the grass. The way you held the strawberry between your teeth as you laughed softly, broke and rebuilt me. The way your lips were tantalisingly close to my own, close enough that I could remove that small piece of fruit from your teeth & replace it with my lips.
I adore your dark hair, the way it looks almost blue in the light, as if you carried night with you wherever you went.

My darling, you make me feel as though this country never were at war. That actually, God had never created a world, only his paradise. I want to touch you, and have you hold me, the enemy can't hurt me when you're here. No one can. We're untouchable. The feel of your lips against my own seals the deal that perhaps we are in our own world, that everything else were a dream & it's just us.

You spilt beer down your lip, and you laughed, apologising for ruining the blanket but I didn't care because you looked beautifully careless. The way the heat gave your beautiful locks a slight curl, and eyes so blue I thought they were mirrors to the sky.

I'm trying to fall asleep my darling, yet my head only fills with you, how I long for you, how I long to be fully yours. Marriage isn't ours yet, but I can dream. Dream of the day that I get to make you breakfast, that we spend the evenings together reading or listening to the wireless, that we can be as one.

My darling it were the crying that brought us back to earth. Your fury, your anger that were what reminded me of the world we live in. That what we want will never be ours. Perhaps it's what only I want but why would I want anything else. You're the sun, the sky, the stars, you are everything that make this world real and you are the most beautiful person I have ever lay my eyes on.
