Tribe names are much different than a Clan cats' and do not follow the same pattern. They are always named after what their mother first sees (e.g. Brook Where Small Fish Swim). Unlike Clan names, a Tribe cats' name can be shortened to the first word in their name. If a cat was named Sheer Path Beside Waterfall, they would be shortened to Sheer.

Their religious belief is The Tribe of Endless Hunting which is like StarClan. Like StarClan, they send warnings and tell the Healer who should be the next Stoneteller. They share messages through omens rather than dreams. Once a Tribe cat dies, they go to the Tribe of Endless Hunting, not StarClan.

In the Cave of Pointed Stones, the Healer contacts their ancestors every moon, which is known as the Telling. Tribe cats do not have Gatherings like the Clans do. Tribes do not have a code to obey unlike the Clans.

Tribe cats have their own special way of hunting. Prey-Hunters find some prey (i.e. a mouse), sit in a hiding place, and wait until they see an eagle (or other bird of prey) attack the prey. They then jump onto and kill the eagle, thus delivering two pieces of prey for the Tribe. This strategy can also be dangerous as a cat could easily lose grip and have to fall from a long distance and die. They are not used to a Clans' way of hunting as they only learn what their ancestors have learnt.

The Tribe lives on the mountains past Highstones, and is much closer to the lake territories. They have a custom of "sharing prey," where they take a bite of their prey, and then give it to another Tribe cat. Their territory is also dangerous as a cat could easily slip or rocks could give way, making them plummet to their death.

Tribes don't have border patrols like the Clans do as there are hardly any trespassing cats. Their prey normally consists of birds (e.g. Eagles, buzzards) which are dangerous and could easily carry a cat away.

A Tribe's insults are completely different from a Clans':

Beetle-brain - Friendly insult; similar to mouse-brain.

Caught-prey - A dead prey animal caught for the purpose of consumption; similar to fresh-kill.

Time of Freed Water- The season of spring, known to the forest Clans as newleaf.

Time of Frozen Water - The season of winter, known to the forest Clans as leaf-bare.

Giving of close comfort - Act of cats grooming each other; similar to sharing tongues.
