Chapter 6

We searched near and far for Nawe, the whole village, the Pine forest, the old witch's home, the lake, everywhere we could think of. Well technically, there were two places left, the battlefield... and Dark Village. We didn't have much of a choice.

We had Mani's help searching the battlefield, her being a ninja was extremely helpful in the search, only problem, Nawe couldn't be found on the battlefield. None of us wanted to go into Dark Village, but we were determined to find Nawe, we would take the risk to find him.

The three of us stood in the forest near Dark Village. "So, what's our plan?" Mani asked.

"No clue," I replied.

"Well that's helpful," Saundarya said as she crossed her arms and rolled her eyes.

"We, uh... Go in there, act natural, grab Nawe and get out of there," Mani suggested.

"Fine with me," I shrugged.

"Alright, then it's decided, let's go." Saundarya nodded and led us over to the front gates.

The gates of Dark Village stood open and everything was silent except for the chirping of birds in the distance, our feet on the cobblestone and the sound of our breath. It was almost like it was night time inside the village, everything was black, the houses, the windows, even the streetlights seemed to be dark. Dark Village made me feel like a heavy, dark grey cloud of gloominess floated above my head.

"I don't like this place," I whispered. The others nodded in agreement.

I really despised the feeling Dark Village gave me. And I honestly never thought that some place could be so dark.

The whole village seemed to be deserted, there was no one on the streets and every window had closed curtains. "This place is creepy..." Saundarya whispered.

While we passed by an alley way, I could hear quiet mumbling. I was unable to make out what they were saying, I stopped in my tracks and looked at the speaker. It appeared to be a winged woman, dressed in dark clothing. There was another dark figure by her feet, it seemed to be male and unconscious.

Saundarya and Mani noticed that I had stopped, they walked back and looked down the alleyway. "Hey! Who are you?!" Saundarya called.

Mani and I told Saundarya to quiet down, but the woman had already taken off to the sky, leaving a trail of dark feathers. We watched her leave and we walked over to the remaining figure. "Hello? Sir, are you alright?" I asked as I reached his side.

I kneeled down beside him and put his head on my lap. I brushed his hair away from his face, it appeared to be Nawe. He slowly opened his eyes and looked at me drowsily. "Mom?" He started to gag and I flipped him onto his side. He cleared his throat. "W-why'd you make me eat those funny bugs..."

My eyes widened, he's been drugged. "Nawe, Nawe, can you hear me?" I asked him.

"G-go away!" He sat up.

"Ok..." I stood up and joined the girls as we started to leave.

"No! You stay!" Nawe pointed at me.

"Who? M-me?" I asked, just to make sure.

He nodded, "Yes, you other people, get out of hearing range."

Saundarya put her hands up in surrender and started to walk away. "Fine then, come on Mani."

Nawe turned to me. "You gave me yucky bugs?" He asked, in a slightly childish tone.

I shook my head. "No, it was that lady with the black wings."

"Oh yeah! She was pretty." He smiled as he thought back.

"Ok then..."

"But not as pretty as you. You're not just pretty, you're beautiful," his tone completely changed to something more... Seductive may be the word I'm looking for.

"Thanks," I said while blushing and smiling. "But you don't actually mean it, you aren't fully conscious and you won't remember this," I mumbled to myself.

"I do know what's going on, I will remember. I may have been drugged but I can feel myself slowly slipping back to reality."

I sighed with relief. "Ok, so you're better now, we can go back. You're not talking about bugs anymore." He raised and eyebrow but shook his head.

I held my hand out to Nawe to pull him up, but instead he pulled my down onto his lap. "Stay here a little longer," he purred.

My face turned a light pink and I didn't move. "Nawe..." I said softly.

He smiled and blushed softly. "When I said you were beautiful, I really meant it." He snaked his arm around my waist, causing me blush even more. I was embarrassed but at the same time I felt safe.

"So do you know how you got over here?" I asked.

He shook his head slowly. "Not really I don't remember much between leaving home and seeing you guys..."

"Oh... Ok then... I see..." I was starting to feel a little awkward.

"Khass..." He whispered my name into my ear, his hot breath on my neck gave me goosebumps.

"Yes?" I asked quietly.

He gently placed his hand on my cheek, turning my face to look right at him. In an instant, his soft lips were on mine and my eyes were closed.

After a few seconds my eyes were open again and I was looking into Nawe's sparkling, violet ones.

My face flushed. "W-what'd you do that for?..."

He smirked. "Why not? You want me to do it again?"

If it was even possible, my face grew even darker. "I-I-I... M-maybe not..." I said quietly.

Nawe frowned slightly. "Ok..." He looked around at the falling snow that had just started. "We should probably be getting back."

I nodded. "B-but first... Give me a good reason to why you kissed me..."

"Because I like you and you're cute."

He likes me... And thinks I'm cute?! I thought to myself and started blushing. While I was lost in thought, Nawe stood up with me in his arms.

"N-Nawe!" He chuckled and put me down in front of him.

"Your friends might be worried," Nawe said as he started walking back to the girls. I nodded and rejoined them.

"You guys took a while, what happened?" Saundarya asked, standing with her arms crossed.

"Oh, nothing. I just waited until Nawe recovered," I answered, blushing softly as I thought about what happened between us.

She raised an eyebrow. "You sure?"

"Yes, I'm sure."

"You don't seem sure."

"I am."

"Ok."

I found a black feather in the snow, left behind by the dark angel. I picked it up and studied it, the end of the feather appeared to be purple. It looked very beautiful and would make a nice decoration, so I stuck it in my hair.

As it settled into my hair, a sudden gust of wind swept the feather away. I covered my face to try and shield myself from the wind. A dark purple mist surrounded me and I had to squint to see. My friends appeared to be frozen, their images were fading by the second.

Two dark, angelic figures appeared from the mist. The two moved in sync, they brought their hands above their heads, facing their palms to each other. A large blue orb formed between their hands as they chanted.

I was frozen in place, unable to do anything about the situation. The one angel took the orb in their own hands and hurled it at me, the impact was painless. Immediately, the chanting stopped and everything returned to normal.

My three friends looked back. "I'll get your feather back," Nawe offered.

I breathed heavily and my heart pounded loudly in my chest. "No, it's fine."
