Chapter 5- It all started with five guys...
Flash-forward to 72 hours later and the house was a mess. There was food falling from the ceiling, all the toilet paper was missing, and a furious dad was glaring down at us.
Needless to say, the prank war was officially over. At least we went out with a bang. Dad wasn't too happy about that though, and we were forced to clean up immediately.
After the war was over, and peace was initiated, life pretty much went back to normal and Aiden dyed his hair back to his light brown. The next week involved going to work, arguing with Aiden, hanging out with Lexi, Lexi breaking up with her boyfriend, swimming, eating too much, getting into Pilates - then giving up, and more arguing with Aiden.
Summers are great, aren't they?
Today was a Saturday, and we had no work, which meant "breakfast" was eaten around 1 pm. At the table, Aiden and I were settling who would get the last piece of toast with a match of rock paper scissors, when my dad cleared his throat. We stopped and gave him our attention.
"I have to go on a business trip tomorrow; my company's trying to work with another company in China. I'll be back in 5 days, and I leave tonight. I trust you guys, just don't get yourself or anyone else killed, okay?"
Aiden nodded.
"No promises," I mumbled looking worried. Alone with Aiden? What the hell was he thinking?
"Awesome! You'll be fine Ari, don't look too annoyed!" Dad exclaimed.
*******
Ding Dong Ding Dong Ding Dong
"Who the hell is at the door?" Aiden screamed from his room. It had been one night after Dad had left, and everything was pretty quiet and normal.
"It's probably Lexi; I told her she should come over!" I yelled back. I started running to the door.
"I'M COMING STOP RINGING THE DOORBELL!" I called finally reaching the door. I was taken aback by the scene. It was Lexi alright, but she also had five guys behind her and they were carrying a keg. When I said to bring "five guys" I meant food from the restaurant chain. Not this.
"Lexi, what the hell?" I groaned.
"Oh come on, Ari! Your dad's not home, we're old enough, let's party!" she exclaimed coming in with her "friends". Not to mention her reasoning made no sense. Legally we were not "old enough".
"Oh, I told people from school as well, they should be here soon!" she said excited.
"I hate you," I mumbled.
"You love me, without me your life would be hella boring," she said and started skipping towards the guys who were hanging out in the living room, but I held her back.
"Where did you find them, anyways?" I hissed at her. She gave me a guilty smile.
"Never mind, I don't want to know," I said walking away to the kitchen. I tried to like parties; I really did. I just didn't enjoy hanging out with people I didn't care about- especially if they were drunk.
I grabbed myself a glass of water, knowing the kitchen would be packed soon.
"Why are there five random guys in our living room?"
I jumped and almost spilled my water. I turned and came face to face with Aiden.
"Jesus Christ, you scared the crap out of me. Why are you being sneaky?"
"I'm not?" he replied, judging me as always.
"Lexi thought it'd be a good idea to throw a party, and as a result, I'm a bit on edge."
"Sweet, a party," he said.
"No. No. Not sweet. Plus, they brought a keg. I hate drunk people," I groaned. Aiden's smile seemed to have dropped as well and he looked thoughtful.
"What's wrong?" I questioned. He seemed to snap back into reality and smiled again. I had to admit his smile usually softened me up. It was quite annoying to be honest.
"Nothing, nothing," he said and walked out into the living room.
"I'm not going to care; I'm going to try to enjoy myself," I stated. The doorbell rang again and I heard them open the door.
"Yo! Mark brought the weed!" one of the guys yelled and the others cheered.
It was going to be a long night.

"Am I tipping over?" Sam, a friend from school, said with a look of horror on his face. His eyes were bulging, red, and paranoid. He was standing still with his arms extended, trying to keep his balance I presume.
"You're fine; you're not moving," I tried to console him.
"Then is it the room?"
"The room is still as well," I said trying not to giggle. How could people put themselves through this on purpose? He started laughing and I laughed along with him. Then, I walked away. That dude needed to ease off the weed.
"Hey, Ari." I turned around and froze.
"What, what are you doing here?" I asked confused.
"Staying at Sam's house for a while. I've missed everyone," he said smiling. I forgot how great his smile was. I smiled back and gave him a friendly hug.
"How have you been Max?"
"Good, good. Texas is not as great as California, but it has its charms," he said. I laughed.
"If that consoles you. Everyone knows California is better," I said joking around. His smile changed. It got more... sad?
"It really is," he said quietly staring at me. He inched a little closer. He had no right to do this.
"I've got to check on Lexi," I said quickly walking away. I had said my goodbyes. That jerk ruined it with his jerk nerve coming to my house. Did I mention that was a jerk move?
Finally I found Lex in the midst of all these people. She was attempting her own cover of a One Direction song while dancing on my couch. I decided to talk to her later and headed for the keg. I really didn't need to see Max tonight.

"Hey! Hey, A!" I said and giggled.
"Ari, you okay?" Aiden asked as I stumbled into him.
"Why wouldn't I be okay? I'm quite peachy!" I exclaimed throwing my hand up, knocking down a vase.
"Whoops," I whispered and giggled.
"Okay, let's step outside, yeah?"
"Shhh," I slurred putting a finger on his lips.
"What-"
"Don't speak, handsome."
"Okay, let's go," he said. I shook my head, but I was moving. Flying!
"Weeeeeeee!" I cheered as Aiden carried me outside to my backyard. When did he throw me over his shoulder? The thought made me giggle some more.
He plopped me down on the grass. I laid down and looked up to the sky.
"Pretty," I sighed. He sat down next to me. Criss cross apple sauce!
"I thought you didn't drink?" he inquired.
"I am compleletelay sober," I argued.
"If that were true you would've said the word "completely" right."
"I did."
"No you- you know what, not important. Are you okay?"
"Why wouldn't I be? By the way, I ran into Max tonight," I said and giggled.
"Who's Max? Did he hurt you?" Aiden asked. I looked up at him and put my hand against his cheek. He looked really worried.
"Pretty, pretty, boy," I said slapping his cheek.
"Ow, you're acting like my grandma," he mumbled rubbing his cheek.
"Don't worry, Max was a perfect gentleman!" I said and scoffed.
The sky at night, despite all the smog and lack of stars, was beautiful.
"Oh shit, you're crying. I thought you were a fun drunk. This mood swing is freaking me out, A."
"A, I feel so stupid," I collapsed on his lap, sobbing.
"You're allowed to feel stupid. You don't have to be in control all the time."
"Why are you so nice to me?" I mumbled.
"Because I'm amazing, and you're the jerk of this friendship. You've hated me since you laid eyes on me."
"First of all, that was too self righteous for me to pay attention to," was what I meant to say, but it came out as a slur and a yawn. I was getting pretty comfortable on his lap.
"I take back the nice," I mumbled. He chuckled.
"Friends, huh?" I whispered.
"Duh," he replied patting my head.
********
I woke up the next morning with a headache. Who wakes up with a headache? I opened my eyes and immediately regretted it, because the room felt too bright. Someone was knocking on my door, but it felt like a knocking on my head.
"You're knocking too loud," I groaned.
"Wakey, wakey, princess!" Aiden said walking in with a tray. I quickly covered my ears with my hands and glared at him.
"Don't glare. I brought you breakfast and painkillers!" he continued yelling and gave me the tray. I threw my pillow at him. He laughed walking out of my room.
"Thanks for managing to be a dick when doing something sweet!" I yelled at him and winced.I guess it was time for that painkiller or ten of them.
I freshened up and after a while I was starting to feel a little better. Unfortunately, I remembered everything from the night before. I was a little embarrassed.
I walked out into the living room, and it was cleaned. Wow, Aiden was acting so nice lately. I really should thank him for real. The TV was on. He must be on the couch. I looked over, and shrieked.
"A, I'm sorry, we didn't hear you walk out of your room!" he said in panic, while the girl under him smiled at me. I closed my eyes with my hands.
