Willingly Kind
"Hey there. Are you Eri?"
The girl nodded, but didn't move further. Izuku sat down in the doorway, resting his back against the frame.
"My name is Void. I'm here to take you away from Chisaki."
Eri blinked slowly.
"Are you a hero?" She asked timidly.
Izuku laughed softly.
"No, I'm not. I'm just another bad guy like Chisaki, but I decided to do something good today."
Eri's eyes flickered to the doorway and outside her room.
"Chisaki will hurt you. He hurts lots of people." She said, fear clear in her small voice.
Izuku shook his head with a smile.
"You don't need to worry about him anymore. He won't be hurting anyone else ever again."
Eri clutched her thin blanket tighter.
"How do you know?" She asked.
Izuku lifted his hand slowly.
"My quirk is special. It lets me take other people's quirks for myself. I have Chisaki's quirk now. He can't hurt you with it anymore. He can't hurt anyone with it anymore."
Eri was silent for a long while.
"Mr Void?" She said quietly.
Izuku smiled.
"What is it Eri?" He asked kindly.
The little girl looked down at the blanket clutched in her small hands.
"Could you.. take my quirk?"
Izuku paused.
"I.. could. But why do you want me to take it?"
Eri sniffed.
"M-my quirk hurts people.. it makes them disappear.. I don't want to hurt people anymore.."
Izuku hummed.
"Well then, if I were take your quirk, would you want a different one instead?" He asked.
Eri's eyes went wide.
"You can give people quirks too?" She asked.
Izuku laughed.
"I guess I never explained my quirk properly.. yes, I can give quirks. I can give you super strength, or flight, you could control the weather, or turn things to liquid just by touching them!"
Eri thought about it for a moment.
"I want to be able to help people.." she said timidly.
Izuku chuckled quietly. He knew just what to do.
"Alright then Eri. Come here for a moment." He said, holding out his hand.
The little silver haired girl hopped off the bed, obviously eager to be rid of her 'curse'. She stood expectantly before Izuku, staring at his scarred hand.
"I need to touch your head. Is that okay Eri?" He asked carefully.
The girl nodded, closing her eyes as Izuku's hand patted her hair gently. The greenette smiled slyly to himself, tugging gently on Eri's quirk, then letting it settle back into place.
Izuku smiled at Eri.
"Alright, that should do it. Your quirk is a healing type, meaning you can make people better just by touching them! Do you want to try it?"
Eri nodded, a small smile on her face. Izuku turned his index finger into a scaly claw, scratching his left arm just enough to bleed. Eri seemed worried, but listened to Izuku's instructions.
"So, your body should be full of energy! You need to imagine pushing a tiny amount of that energy into me through your hands. Once my cut is healed, you just need to imagine pulling that energy away from me, and back inside yourself. Like taking a deep breath and holding it in. Can you do that Eri?" He asked.
Eri nodded determinedly, lifting her hands up to look at them. Unnoticed by the little girl, her small horn had started to glow with a golden light. A few seconds later, her hands glowed with the same energy.
"Remember Eri, just a tiny amount of energy. If you don't use enough the first time it's ok, you can just add a little more next time!" Izuku encouraged.
Eri nodded, reaching out her right hand and touching Izuku's arm near the cut with one finger. The small wound healed instantly, and Eri pulled her hand back, a cute look of intense concentration on her face as the golden glow receded. Eri blinked, looking at Izuku proudly.
"I did it! I used my new quirk!" She exclaimed, a bright smile on her face.
"Eri. That wasn't a new quirk." Izuku said kindly.
The girl froze, looking up at Izuku in complete confusion.
"But.. I healed you? My real quirk only hurts people!" She said.
Izuku shook his head, a small smile on his face.
"No, it doesn't Eri. Your quirk is beautiful. It's one of the kindest quirks I've ever seen. It's called Rewind. You can turn back time on any living thing, which can be used in many ways, like healing injuries, or how Chisaki used it, to hurt people. But.. you could say the same about any quirk."
Eri stared down at her hands.
"My quirk... isn't evil?" She asked.
Izuku placed his hand on her head again, softly petting her hair.
"Your quirk is very kind Eri. Your quirk is kind because you are kind. The only reason bad things happened was because Chisaki was a bad, bad man. Now that you know how to control it, your quirk is the kindest of all of them. You can help so many people with it Eri."
Izuku sat there, in that desolate room for quite a while, holding the scarred little girl as she cried into his shoulder. He smiled sadly, knowing he would have to leave her soon.
"Eri." He said softly.
The tiny girl sniffed, wiping away the last of her tears.
"Yes Mr Void?" She asked.
"I need to take you somewhere else. Somewhere you'll be safe. Chisaki won't be after you.. but other bad people might."
Eri thought for a moment.
"Can I.. come with you?" She asked shyly.
Izuku shook his head, agony stabbing through his heart.
"I'm sorry Eri, but it's not safe for you with me. My Dad is a bad man, even worse than Chisaki."
That made Eri sad again, but Izuku smiled.
"But, I'll be leaving you with some really really kind people! Almost as kind as you are!" He exclaimed, cuddling the girl.
Eri giggled, pretending to push him off. Izuku chuckled, only squeezing her tighter.
"I promise to come and visit whenever I can.. if the heroes let me.." he said.
"Why won't they let you Mr Void?" Eri asked innocently.
Izuku gave her a small smile.
"I told you earlier Eri, I'm a bad person. The heroes are very good people who are supposed to catch bad people like me, and stop us from hurting the good people." He explained.
"I.. don't want to be taken away from you.." the child said.
Izuku stood up, holding Eri on his hip.
"You won't. I'll definitely see you again Eri, it might just take a while. Now, I'm going to hide my face again. Nobody else knows what I look like, so you can't tell them, okay? It's a big secret!" Izuku said.
Eri gasped, nodding her head vigorously.
"If you see me again with my face out, pretend you don't know me unless I say it's okay, okay? I'm sorry to ask so much of you.."
Eri smiled.
"If it keeps Mr Void safe, I'll do it! Even if he's a bad person to others, he's my hero!" She exclaimed.
Izuku squeezed the girl, turning on the Void quirk.
"Alright. Let's go."
Izuku opened a portal and stepped through. It was a prototype combination quirk modelled on Kurogiri's Warp Gate. It used a lot more quirks than the bartender's did however.
Void looked around once the wispy portal dissipated. He was in the middle of some model city training ground. Class 1A had surrounded him, with Aizawa stood directly infront of him. Void tutted.
"Still needs some adjustments. I'm way off course from where I intended to be.."
Aizawa growled.
"Let the girl go. You were with the League of Villains at the USJ, however briefly. What do you want?" He asked, his hair floating, and his scarf twitching around his shoulders.
Void chuckled.
"I'm here to see Principal Nezu. Important Supervillain business, you wouldn't understand Eraserhead. I know you're listening Mr Chimera, please come down here as fast as you can. And don't even bother sending All Might. All for One and One for All, or something like that anyway. You understand?"
Aizawa stepped forwards, his scarf at the ready. Class 1A didn't move, but they each got their quirks prepared. Ochako looked pretty cu- shut up brain! I'm a villain right now!
"I'll say it again Villain, let the girl go." The teacher growled.
Eri frowned at the man.
"You leave Mr Void alone! He said you were nice people, but you aren't being very nice to him!" She said.
Both the pro hero and heroes in training froze.
"What..?" Aizawa eventually said.
Void sighed, facepalming as best he could.
"Eri, I've already explained, I'm a bad person, they're the good guys. It's their job to stop me doing bad things, like kidnapping little girls and holding them hostage."
Eri looked confused.
"But you didn't kidnap me..? And.. what's a hos-tage?"
"No I didn't, but they think I did. And a hostage is someone being threatened by a bad guy to stop the heroes coming after them."
Eri turned to class 1A.
"Mr Void didn't kidnap me, he saved me, don't worry! And I'm not a hos-tage either, Mr Void is very nice!" She explained, talking like a grown-up would to a confused child.
Nezu chose that moment to appear, being followed by an angry skinny blonde man. Void smiled.
"Ah, just the men I was waiting for. I must say heroes, the next generation is trained so very well! I was surrounded the moment I exited the portal, not that it would have made a difference against me, but still!"
Nezu stood wide eyed. All Might (the skinny man) was still angry looking, but not nearly as much as before.
"And who might you be?" Nezu asked politely.
Void set Eri down on thin air, holding her with Telekinesis and bending over in a deep sweeping bow.
"My name is Void, it's a pleasure to make your acquaintance Nezu, Mr Yagi. My Father has told me much about you both."
All Might's frown deepened at the word 'Father', while Nezu's eyes widened further.
"You are.. his son?" The principal asked.
Void nodded.
"I wish nobody here any ill will. I apologize for the theatrics, it appears Father has been rubbing off on me. Bastard."
All Might coughed.
"What is it you want, offspring of the devil?"
Void held Eri in his arms once more, letting her snuggle into his side.
"I want you to look after Eri for me." He said simply, brushing a strand of hair behind the smiling girl's ear.
That threw everyone for a loop.
"W-what?" All Might spluttered.
Aizawa and Nezu kept their silence, while class 1A murmured amongst themselves.
"Loathe as I am to part with her.. she would not be safe with me. Unless you want the king of the underworld at your door, keep her existence a secret from everyone but those present. Don't even think about today until my father is brought to justice. If he or Shigaraki ever knew I was here..." Void shuddered.
Nezu nodded, stepping forwards.
"We can look after miss Eri for you Void. There is no safer place for a child than UA, I can assure you of that." He said.
"P-principal Nezu! To trust his child so easily-!" All Might spluttered.
"Now now Toshinori." Nezu said. "No matter where they come from, it is our duty as both teachers and heroes to help any child in need. Void is also the best advantage we could have against him, should he be willing to help..?"
Void snorted. It sounded weird through the quirk.
"I was planning on helping you take him and the league down anyway." He said.
"Why, so that you can take over?" All Might scoffed.
"Oh no, I fully intend to go to Tartarus for the rest of my days. Like I told Eri, and like you all believe, I am a bad person. I've hurt people. I've also done much worse than just hurt them. I've taken certain.. things from them too, just like my father has. I cannot be redeemed, no matter how much I try to atone now."
Void knelt down and set Eri onto the tarmac. The girl held his shirt in a vice grip.
"I have to go Eri.." he said.
Eri sniffed.
"I don't want you to go.." she whispered.
Izuku leaned forwards, wrapping the tiny girl up in a big hug.
"I don't want to go either. But it's for your own good Eri. Like I said before, I'll definitely see you again. I promise."
The villain turned to the heroes, and class 1A.
"When we meet again, treat me as you would any other villain. Don't act as though we've met, and don't try to reason with me, unless it's unrelated to Eri and my visit here. You cannot compromise my goal. Not now."
Void turned back to Eri and stood up again, reaching through the quirk's nothingness to wipe away the stray tears.
"Goodbye."
He stepped through a portal, waving to the silver haired child as it closed.
