New Home

Loki

I feel alone. I am miles away from my family and I am entering one of not my own. Separated from everyone I ever knew and loved and it's all my fault.

I have been tossed around from home to home like a hacky-sack, not staying in one place no longer than six months and no shorter then one. It's been weighing down on me.

My new home is in the city of Knoxville in the southern state of Tennsssee. The family that are fostering me are the Odinsons, who already have two kids, so I won't expect to much attention from them.

The family consists of the father, Odin, the mother Frigga, and the children, Hela and Thor. I find it kinda funny that all of us have names from Norse mythology.

From what I understand is that Hela will be going to college next year, and Thor will be going into his last year next year, leaving me the youngest in the house, like it was before I broke up my family.

I grabbed the two bags I had and walked off the plane. I was previously with a conservative couple in Salem, Oregon who abused me until they thought they did their good Christian jobs and sent me back just to get sent to a hole other state.

The reason why I have been jumping from house to house in foster care is because... I'm gay. It's what started me being in the foster system in the first place.

And now I am walking into the general public area of the airport. As I walk out I see a homely and kind woman walking towards me. She looked to be in her mid to late 40s.

"Loki, right?" She asked, her voice held obvious excitement and welcome.

"Yeah." I say quietly.

"Well as you probably know, I'm Frigga." She said with a smile. "Odin and the kids are at home finishing up your room. Are those all you're clothes?"

She was looking at the duffle bag and the backpack that I had. The duffle had clothes, and the backpack had clothes in it as well as my phone and it's charger. The first people I went to were a kind elderly couple that gave me the Phone as a birthday present, but they sadly passed away not long after that.

"Yes." I answer her.

"If you want to, we can get you some more." She offered, to which I only nodded.

We find her car and I load my stuff in the back before sitting in the passengers seat. I disassociate for the entire drive and was only brought back by a gentle shake on my shoulder courtesy of Frigga.

"We're home." She softly spoke with a small smile.

Home. No foster parent of mine called their house a home. They would always say we're here then leave it at that. Not even the elderly couple that fostered me called their house a home when I arrived. He felt a sense of welcome here.

I followed Frigga inside with my stuff in hand. She led me upstairs to a room that was booming with laughter from two males and a female. Frigga lightly knocked on the door, causing the laughter to stop. I heard light footsteps coming towards the bedroom door. The door was opened by a girl with sharp features, with black hair and green eyes just like me.

"Loki I presume." The girl said with a smile. Hela. "I'm Hela. Thor and our dad Odin are inside your room with me. It's pretty easy to guess who is who.

I walk into my new room for god knows how long, and it was amazing. It was the biggest he has had yet. It looked like they took their guest bedroom, bathroom and all, and painted it in blacks, greens, and golds. It had a shelf of books and a queen sized bed.

I felt the family of fours eyes on me as I explored the expanse of my room, taking in every minute detail. He turned to them, all of them as some form of expectancy. I smile at them.

"Thank you." I tell them. "This is the most welcome I have felt in a long time."

The next thing that happens surprises me. Frigga comes over and hugs me. I haven't had may hugs in my life, so to say the least, I am severely touched starved. I flinched a little, but accepted the hug, enjoying the comforting feeling. She held me for a good minute, the other three leaving the room in that time, then she pulled back smiling at me. She had a heartwarming smile.

"We will do our best to make you feel welcome here." She promised. "They told us to wait until we know you are comfortable here to actually adopt you, but be welcome to call this place home and us your family."

"Okay." I say with a smile.

I felt safe here, I felt at home.

"Mom?" I hear Hela ask from outside my new room. "Two things."

"Go ahead."

"One, Thor is getting a tutor for math, and two, can Mobius come over for dinner?" Hela asked with hope on her face.

"I am happy that Thor is finally getting the help he needs, but I'm unsure about your friend coming over." Frigga remarked as I silently watch the exchange between the women of the house. "Have you finished your homework?"

"Yes, all of it, you can check if you want to." Hela states, proud of her work.

"Why do you want him over so much? Is there something you aren't telling me?" Frigga asked in a joking manner.

"For the last time mom, he is gay." Hela let out with a frustrated sigh.

Frigga chuckled and I had a smile on my face at the affect a mother had on her child. With the mention of the friend being gay, maybe I had hope of actually finding a home.

"He can come over." Frigga agreed, putting a smile on Hela's face. "He's a good kid, I bet he would like you Loki."

------

At around dinner time, there was a knock at the door. No one was paying attention to the door, so I decided to answer the door myself. I open the door to an attractive grey haired boy.

"Hi." I force out of my mouth to avoid an awkward situation.

"Hi." He responded. "I'm Mobius, a friend of Hela's."

"I'm Loki, the kid their fostering." I answered, letting Mobius in the house.

"How old are you Loki?" He asked, making conversation.

"I turn sixteen in December, how about you?" I respond politely.

"I turn eighteen in January." Mobius says. "Well, I'm gonna hang with Hela until dinner. Hope you feel safe here."

Mobius gave me a playful wink before going to Hela's room, leaving me to be alone again. I won't lie and say that I'm not attracted to Mobius. He is two years older than me, but.... maybe the crush will dissipate when he graduates and goes to college. Why did I call it a crush? I just think that Mobius is conventionally attractive, that's all.... that's all.
