I'm not quite sure

"What do you think?" Boniface asked him.
"I'm not quite sure." Cedric admitted as he stroked his stubbly chin, pensive.
"Did you find something unusual?" Boniface questioned as he looked at the corner of his eye.
"Not yet, but something doesn't add up." Cedric surmised.
"Do you think it wasn't an accident?" He prodded.
"I can't tell yet, but I have reasons to doubt it." Cedric said as he started to hear a small beep.
"Maybe we could..." Boniface was about to suggest something before Cedric raised his gloved hand to shush him.
"What's that?" Cedric asked.
"What's what?" Bonifaced asked him while Cedric heard mild ticking noises.
"There, behind the couch." Cedric pointed to the source of the ticking at the piece of furniture. They went behind the couch of the lobby and found a bomb.
"Is that what I think it is?" Bonifaced raised his voice in shock.
"Stop everyone! Nobody leaves the building!" Cedric gave a command, Boniface followed his instructions and alerted the guards to block the entrance and exits. Nobody was leaving until the culprit was found.

When Cedric revealed the bomb that was attached to the couch, the people panicked. Only some of the individuals remained calm. Either they were saving face to not show fear or they were indifferent, or borderline suicidal.

"What kind of psycho takes pleasure in this?" Shouted one frustrated teen in the background. Staring and murmuring followed. Cedric had to look out for any strange behavior, which was difficult to do since there were nearly 80 people in the lobby.

He spotted a woman texting something, a security guard confiscated it to find out that she was texting to her boyfriend. Six other individuals were recording this as if it was some kind of viral video.

Cedric pinched his temple, "is this generation so glued to their devices that they can't live without it?" He thought.

A hooded teenage girl had a wireless headphone on, using a bluetooth that the sound she ellicited were "aha" and "nah".

"You!" Cedric pointed at the shady teen with the black hoodie. He gestured for her to come. She pointed at herself, giving a silent question until he confirmed it with a nod.

Boniface pulled down the black hood of her hoodie, revealing bleach blonde hair, gaudy with green strands and thin streaks. She walked up to the two men, one with a stubbly white man wearing a beige trench coat while a bald man with tawny skin brought her to Cedric.

"What's your name, kid?" Cedric asked her in his gruff, instigating tone.

"Cass." She replied, her tone indifferent, clipped.

"Listen up Cass, you know what a bomb is and what it does. Judging by the spy equipment that you're wearing." Cedric removed her shades which was embedded with a small camera invisible to the naked eye. "You already know who's the one behind this." He said as the camera recorded his stubbled chin and firm jawline. "You have one minute to deactivated the bomb." He concluded as he folded the ears of the sunglasses and hung it within the pocket of his trench coat as the camera recorded Cassidy sideways.

"You expect me to deactivate this?! Are you crazy?!" Cassidy yelled in outrage.

"Is either that or confess that you're working for a terrorist organization. And you better be quick, time is ticking." Cedric rolled the sleeve of his trench coat to reveal a watch as the seconds tick.

Cassidy's eyes scanned as her forehead was sweating bullets.

"Fine! But I promise nothing! If this blows up in everyone's faces, it's your fault!" Cassidy went to check on the bomb.

Cedric looked at the seconds tick by while Cassidy took out a switch blade knife from her boot.

"Are they insane?! The bomb is gonna go off!" The same frustrated teenager shouted. One of the security guards gestured to the captive suspects to remain calm. Cassidy's eyes darted to the green wire, blue wire and red wire.

Murmurs came out of the quarter of the bystanders at the lobby, ranging from "they're keeping us hostage", "they're forcing a teenager to disarm a bomb", "we'll die at this rate," and "are they insane?!"

"This is Mike Ayson, the eye-socket on U-tube, recording on a lobby at the Winchester Industries. As you can see here, two men are pressuring a teenage girl to disarm an explosive located behind the couch. If I don't make it out of this one, just wanna let you all know that I love you guys." A blogger is recording this live, posing as an amateur reporter, showing his face at the camera as he pointed the camera of his smartphone to zoom in. His sobs were heard behind the camera before a guard confiscated his smartphone.

She cut the green wire that was connected to the explosive, but the timer was still ticking.

Shit! She thought.

"If you think you're so smart, why don't you disarm the bomb!" One of the hostages shouted.

"Looks like we have another volunteer!" Cedric shouted before the guy who protested retracted his statement.

Boniface had the wireless ear plugs in his hands and felt a small vibration coming from it. He lifted the small device close to his ear and heard an automated voice.

22

"How careless! That's very unprofessional of you, Cedric." Boniface heard. "You might have found the right suspect, but your hunch is far off. Cass here, has no experience disarming explosives, she is nothing more than a distraction."

18

"Cedric, you have to hear this!" Boniface hollered as he brought the wireless ear plug to him.

16

"You followed the wrong trail that it led you on a wild goose chase." The automated voice said as Cass cut off the blue wire.

12

"My droids implanted the explosives and only I have the switch. The wires are only mere decoration." Cedric's eyes bulged when Cass cut all of the wires but the timer was still ticking. "With a push of a button, I can deactivate the bomb or reduce the building to rubble, your choice."

A dark gloved hand held a remote as the individual watched through the camera, smirking.

"What do you want?!" Cedric demanded.

7

"What do I want? Simple."

6

"I want you..."

5

"...to die."

The automated voice laughed.

"Everybody out!" Cedric shouted. The people ran out of the building in a panic. Jostling amd shoving as they scattered like lost cattle.

3

Cassidy and Boniface ran as fast as they could.

As they ran out of the door, Boniface looked back and saw that Cedric stayed behind.

"CEEEEEDRRRIIIIIIIIIIC!"

The mastermind pressed the button.

BOOM!

The explosive went off.

Smoke billowed and dispersed in the concrete walls of the building, escaping the cracked glass doors. Cedric laid on the floor eagle-style as he coughed, his beige trench coat now covered in grey gun powder and debris his gloves charred and singed, his stubbly chin itchy and flakey. The lens of the spy glasses cracked, the whirring alarm of an ambulance can be heard.

The mastermind laughed like a hyena in the comfort of his den. Stating that he had him "like a little bitch". The only light that could be seen was from his laptop.

To summarize the whole ordeal: Cedric was sent to the hospital, Cassidy was placed in a witness protection program, and Boniface took charge of the investigation in Cedric's steed. Whoever did this will not get away with it.

"Take note Hellwood, that's how you write a good story." Commented the eye-socket, the U-tuber who was trolled on the internet for mispronouncing his username to I suck it!

End.
