Hans
Hans was never shown an act pure love, therefore he can't properly portray the emotion.
I was the 13th son in the royal family of The Southern Isles. As you can already figure out, there was nothing for me. I was an outcast, to my kingdom, and to my own family. My brothers shunned me, my parents cut me out of their life. I would sit in my room, alone with my thoughts. All I really wanted was to be loved, like my parents and brothers. My only family was the servants, one in particular. Her name was Ellie, she was an older woman, round with curly white hair. She has taken care of me since birth. She was my mother, so to say.
One day, I heard the servants scuttling and murming about how they had to have everything perfect. I asked Ellie what was going on, and she told me that there was going to be a ball. Of course, no one would tell me. I went to my room and just sat infront of my window. I often wondered why Jeremy or Samuel didn't get the same treatment as I did. I mean, they're 11th and 12th in line.
It was the night of the ball and Ellie was helping me get ready.
"Maybe some beautiful maiden will come and whisp you away to a new life."
"I believe it is suppose to be the other way around Mama Ellie."
I replied to her with a soft chuckle. She did a hearty laugh and patted my shoulder and left. I looked at myself in the mirror and with a deep sigh, I entered the ballroom.
It was full of life. Men in an array of suits and women in gowns of all shapes and colours. It was a sight to behold. The chandeliers brightened the room more than they ever have. I went to the table and saw a whole buffet of foods, sandwiches, fudge, punch and so much more. I looked around and for once, I smiled. The laughing, the smells, everything seemed to just lift my spirits. And another thing to add to my happiness, I haven't even seen one of my family members.
It was getting late and I jumped as my stomach growled. I didn't realise that so much time had passed. I went to the table and grabbed a ham and turkey sandwich, basic I know. But, I loved the classic taste. As I finished, I felt a tap on my shoulder. I turned and saw a young lady. I quickly gulped and stood up straight.
"Good evening."
I said as I bowed. She did a small courtesy and asked me.
"May I have this dance?"
I stood astonished, the man is suppose to ask that question. I didn't say no. We waltzed across the dance floor. Her black hair was up in a tight bun and her brown eyes looked at me with a small gleam. Her green dress seemed to sparkle in the light. She also had the sweetest laugh and smile.
I had a feeling she was special. Maybe Mama Ellie was right, maybe she would take to me a new world. I led her to the garden where our fountain stood. The moonlight was hitting it just right and it made it shine and sparkle, as if there were stars captured in the water.
"This foutain is very special to our family."
"Why are you showing me?"
"I think you're special enough to know. It shines with all of these different colours, because each royal has a special colour seal. When a member of the family passes, their seal is put in the fountain, and becomes one of the stars. So that they will always be remembered and be smiled upon."
"That's beautiful. Oh! Do forgive me, I didn't introduce myself!"
She said and doing a small courtesy again
"I am Princess Jenivive, first born from the kingdom Fortrum."
I felt anxiety strike my heart.
"Could we maybe skip formalities?"
"Nonsense."
I sighed and gave a bow.
"Prince Hans, 13th son of the Southern Isles."
I cringed slightly and straightened up slowly. She looked me dead in the eye, and she snorted. She quickly tried to cover it with her mouth.
"That was rude of me. Um, I don't think this could work."
She said backing up slowly.
"Couldn't we try? Please? You're special I can feel it."
"But you aren't."
I slouched, losing my posture as I heared those words.
"I'm sorry."
Those were the last words I heard as the womanand my heart vanished. I turned and looked into the fountain, it rippled as a tear fell.
I went back inside, the ballroom silent. All of the guests had either made a departure for their kingdoms, or retired to their rooms for the night. Behind me, I heard the snickering of my brothers.
"That sucks little brother."
"We saw everything."
"It's kind of pathetic, don't you think?"
"She may have actually liked you."
"But we were right, status matters."
All of their murmmering and taunts, I could mostly ignore, except for one.
"You're nothing special."
"Just you wait. I will find someone who will love me! Someone who will look past my status! Then I will be a king! And then I'll stand proudly with my family, while all of you weep!"
I glared at them all, furious. A hand touched my shoulder and I turned around, revealing my mother. She bent down and lifted my chin with her index and middle fingers.
"Oh, Hans. If only there was someone out there who loved you."
She got up and left. My brothers snickered behind me as I went into my room, slamming the door behind me. There was a knock on my door.
"Leave me alone!!"
I screamed throwing a vase at the door. Soneone cracked the door open.
"May I come in?"
A soft voice asked. Mama Ellie.
"Of course."
I said, barely above a whisper. After what felt like hours of her comforting me, I finally fell into a deep slumber.
Days passed and I still sulked in my bedroom. My hair unkept, my face red and swollen, not very princely. Mama Ellie ran in and snuck something under my bed sheet. I looked at her in confusion.
"Don't ask, just don't tell anyone I showed you."
She gave me a quick kiss on the cheek and left as fast as she arrived. I went to my bed and pulled out an envelope. On the front it said, The Family of the Southern Isles, spelt in a very fancy gold paint. I turned it around, ot was already opened. I pulled the parchment out and read.
Dear Friends,
It has been many moons since the last we have seen your family. As it has been hard for our kingdom to move on since the passing of our beloved King and Queen, you are aware we have closed ourselves off. Our gates have been closed for many years, and we would be overthrilled with your presence, if you would attend our ceremony. We are opening the gates! Not only are we having this glorious occasion, but we are crowning our new queen. This will be the day of Princess Elsa's Coronation. We would love to have you with us as we crown our new queen, and Princess Anna would be overjoyed with your attendance. The ball is in 6 days time located in the main ballroom.
Safe travels to you, and we hope to see you.
The Kingdom of Arrendale
I smile and hold the letter tightly. This is it! This has to be what Mama Ellie was telling me about! This is my shot! This is my chance to be whisked away into a new world! I'll be free of my family, free of my kingdom!
I will be King, one way or another!
