Six Months Earlier...

The taxi pulls to a stop in front of Heathrow Airport. I pull my wallet out of my handbag and pay the driver. Stepping out of the car I grab my suitcases from the driver. "Thank you." I take my suitcases from him and start to walk into the airport. I wait in line at the checkout line.

A guy is standing behind me and I feel his breath hit the back of my neck. I turn towards him and say. "Can you not stand too close to me, please? You're breathing on me and it's getting annoying." He ignores me and takes a step closer. More of his breath hits the back on my neck. He whispers in my ear. "You like it when a guy like me is breathing down your neck."

What a tool.

"No, I don't." The line moves forward and I will be the next person at the counter.

I just hope that I don't have to be near this guy any longer.

A woman waves me over and I walk over to the counter. I show her my passport as I check in. I place my bag on the conveyer belt and for it to get weighed.

The woman puts a tag on my bag and I watch it disappear from my view. "Have a good day." She gives me pack the passport and ticket.

I walk away from the check in counter and make my way over to customs. I wait in line as people go through the metal detectors entering the airport.

One of the buzzers goes off and a female is pulled to the side. She's pulled aside by a female customs office. She lifts her arms up as a wand is waved over her body. She is cleared to go through and she grabs her stuff as she heads towards her gate.

I put my bag onto the machine that customs checks the carry-on bags with. I take off my earrings, watch and navel ring. I put them into a small white container. I walk through the metal and it doesn't go off. I wait for my stuff to get checked.

Once my stuff have been cleared, I pick up the bag and jewellery. I make my way over to the restroom where I put my navel ring back in and earrings.

Pulling out my phone I check the time for Los Angeles before I call my brother. The last time I called him he was asleep and wasn't too happy that I called him at 4 in the morning when he was asleep. He chewed my ass out before he told me that he had an important meeting that he had to attend to that day and he hung up on me.

He didn't call me back for two weeks from that mistake. So, after that phone call I added the time for Los Angeles into the world time I have on my I-phone.

Alex should still be awake.

I call him and he answers on the second ring.

Alex: Hello?

Me: Hey, big brother. I'm calling to remind you that I will be home tomorrow.

Alex: How can I forget to pick up my little sister who decided to take ten years off travelling the world and working at some of the best companies the world has to offer?

Me: Don't be jealous big brother. You've done well for yourself too. How is the business going with your best friend?

Alex: It's going great. We're expanding the company to London and Nico wants me to go there for three months to train the locals.

Me: I should have stayed longer in London longer.  That way I would have a job to come home too.

Alex laughs.

Alex: You're not going to have a hard time getting a job. You've worked all over the world and studied online as well. He pauses for a moment before saying. I know of a job, but it's something that I don't want you to do. Knowing you as well as I do you're going to take the job anyway. I'll tell you all about tomorrow when I see you.

A woman's voce comes over the phone. "Alex, who are you talking too?"

I didn't know he had a girlfriend. We've never kept a secret from each other.

Alex: Hang on, Belle. I'll sort the girl out.

"I'm talking to my sister. She's coming home tomorrow and wants to make sure that I'm still picking her up from the airport." He's quiet for a moment and then he says. "I'll join you in bed shortly."

Really, bro. I didn't want to hear that especially with the girl he's dating.

Alex: Belle, I have to go. As you heard I have company and can't keep her waiting.

I cut him off.

Me: Do you have a girlfriend?

Alex: No, I picked the girl up at the local pub I visit frequently.

Me: Okay, I'll let you go.

Alex: It was nice talking to you, Belle. What time do you get in?

Me: Ten, I'll meet you at the arrival terminal.

Alex: Okay, bye.

He hangs up.

I turn my phone off my phone before I make my way over to the terminal where my plane will depart from.

A guy sits next to me and he pulls out an apple laptop out of his. He starts it up and looks around the terminal as he waits for it to boot up.

Pulling out my iPad I start to go through Kindle until I find a book by my favourite author. I click on the book and start reading.

An hour later, the first class passengers are called and I make my way over to the gate. Where there's a whole heap of people waiting to get onto the plane. I give the woman my ticket and I make my way onto the plane.

A stewardess looks at my ticket and she shows me to my seat in first class. As soon as I'm comfortable a steward asks me if I want anything to drink and I ask for a glass of white wine and he pours me some. I thank him before he moves onto the next person in first class.

I watch as more people board the plane and are shown to their seats. I put the drink in the cup holder and pull out my iPad again. I continue to read the story and a smile spreads across my face as the male lead declares his love for the female lead.

The pilot's voice comes over the intercom. "Welcome aboard, Hudson Airways. We'll be taking off shortly, but before we leave we will be showing you a video."

Looking at the screen in front of me I watch the emergency video that planes show every time you board one.

I used to be a stewardess and following these instructions is like second nature to me. I turn my attention away from the video and continue to read my book.

As the demonstration comes to a finish I shut down the iPad and put my seatbelt on. The stewardess's walk down the aisle telling people to put on their seatbelts.
