Chapter 6
Rina
"What are we going to do?" I asked panicking.
Sandra gulped. And I knew exactly what she was thinking as her gaze drifted to the gun in Callie's hand.
"Alright, it looks like we're gonna light this place up!" Sydney said as a wicked grin spread across her face. She walked over to the door and gasped. "Oh my goodness! Can you explode the car engines?" She asked.
"Uh... I just discovered I can control fire today... I'd probably end up slaughtering everybody if I tried to explode a car engine." Sandra said as she stepped slowly away from the door.
"Okay... but still. What other, plan do we have? We can't just get arrested." Sydney spat back.
"What if I kill us instead?" Sandra argued.
"Well, then we died trying." Sydney said as an especially wicked grin spread across her face. "You can't get fire powers and not explode something."
Sandra groaned.
Surprisingly... I agreed. "I think we should try it."
"What?" Sandra asked.
"I mean does anyone have any better ideas?" I argued.
No one replied.
"I'm sorry guys... I really am... but I can't do it." Sandra said looking at the floor.
"Come on Sandra, even Callie used her powers!" Sydney tried again.
Callie glared at her then her gaze softened as she extended her arm with the gun in her hand to Sandra. "We're all here."
Sandra grabbed the gun, and tucked it into the pant-leg of her sweatpants, then looked around the beat-up hallway—from all the chaos we caused—and spoke. "Look what we did." She said gesturing at the hallway. "We can't keep prancing around, acting like we didn't hurt people."
"YOU THINK WE DID THOSE THINGS ON PURPOSE?" Sydney screamed in her sister's face. "No one asked for this Sandra." Sydney's face was furious, while Sandra's was blank. Sandra said nothing as she walked toward the door.
"Well, I hurt people. Maybe, not on purpose... but I did. I can't hide anymore." Sandra walked outside.
Closing the door behind her.
Nea
I watched as Sandra walked outside, giving up. I think I was starting to also. I turned my head to find Rina walking toward the see-through door and watching as Sandra slowly walked forward. I joined Rina.
"We have to go out there. She would go out there if that was us." Rina whispered as she put her hand on the handle.
"Rina..." Sydney said as she looked confused watching her sister. "Don't—
Put your hands up where I can see them! The police officers outside yelled at Sandra.
"No..." Sydney said as a sob slipped free and she fell to her knees crying.
Rina opened the door. I didn't stop her, but joined her.
There were more officers than I thought. I looked around and saw a news reporter van setting up cameras. The world was about to know.
"Put your hands up! And if you have any weapons drop them where I can see them!" The main officer shouted. I glanced at Sandra as she took the gun out from its place and crouched down and slid it on the ground toward the officers.
Callie and Sydney slowly opened the door and walked outside with their hands up. Sydney glanced at Sandra then looked at the ground. Sandra glanced around at us then closed her eyes. Callie sniffed.
"Gather them and put each in a separate car." The leader of the officers told them. The officers followed coming closer.
BOOM!
One of the cars flew upward and exploded. I looked at Sandra, her eyes still closed. Sydney's eyes widened in shock.
The officers ran away from the vehicle and pointed their guns at us. "Don't move!" An officer cried out.
BOOM!
Another car exploded followed by another and another after that. Then, the news van exploded. One by one, Sandra was taking them out. I looked back at her to find her face calm and concentrated. I looked back to find the gun was directly in the middle of all the officers.
She purposely exploded the cars to get them to circle the gun.
The gun rattled on the floor. One officer turned and looked at it. "Um... guys?" The man said as he took a step away from the gun.
"What is it now, officer Jake...?" The lead officer asked while following his gaze to the ground where the gun rattled harder. He turned to us. "Whatever trick this is you better—"
"Ah, ah, ah." Sydney said as she wagged her finger. "No trick." Sydney looked at her sister and smiled. "Just awesomeness." Sandra's lips curved upward.
BOOM!
The gun exploded and everyone—including us—flew back and hit the wall.
We groaned.
"Come on... we have to get out of here before they find us..." Sandra said as she stumbled on to her feet. She leaned a hand on the wall. We watched as officers shouted orders and helped those who got severely injured by the explosion. I got up and helped Sydney of the ground making sure not to touch her hands.
Sydney coughed. "That was awesome!" Sydney exclaimed quietly.
Callie grabbed my arm. "We have to go." She gestured to an officer staring at them. He didn't move from his spot, but he wouldn't stop staring either.
"Yeah. Can you teleport us?" I asked.
"Yeah... where too? She asked.
"My house?" I asked. Everyone nodded. It has to be better than here.
We all clung together. Then, Callie blinked.
