Chapter 13

Ms. Harriet

"Dang it. She got away," Sandra said as she kicked the wall. I turned away from them and smirked.

All apart of the plan.

"Girls, you stay here in case she comes back. I have to get some supplies and check a few things. I recommend you transform, so you're prepared for anything." They nodded in agreement, so I ran down the hallway. Once I turned the corner I transformed. I didn't transform into my coaching jumpsuit, but my red and black jump suit. I saw my assistant Kathy coming down the hallway.

"Corilana Harriet, has the plan succeeded?" She asked.

"Phase one of the plan did. Send Luke a message that I'm on my way," I told her as I she pulled out an iPad and swiftly typed the message. "Also... keep an eye on the girls. Make sure they don't leave this building." Kathy nodded and walked into the hallway, giving orders to everyone.

"Watch over the girls," Kathy instructed to the workers in the lab.

I smirked and walked over to a pure white room. White walls and a white tiled floor. There was no furniture. I pressed my hand to the wall reveling a secret door. It opened, so I then walked in.

"Luke... son?" I called as I walked down the steps into the dark room.

"I'm here, mother," Luke said as he stepped out from a dark corner of the room.

I smiled and said, "Good work today. Phase one is complete. Is she here?"

Luke smirked and nodded. Then he said, "Synthia, come on out."

Sydney stepped out from the shadows in a black and red outfit that made her look taller. The look suited her.

"How do you feel?" I asked.

"Surprisingly... good, for someone who's been turned into something so bad," She replied. I noticed her voice sounded... off. It sounded almost as if she was speaking into a fan. I gave an approving nod. She's perfect.

"Alright, now that you are on our side—"

"Forced onto your side. Sorry, please continue," Sydney said looking at the ground.

"As I was saying, now that you are on our side, you must do what we say," I said. Sydney looked up and smiled.

"Aw, you're no fun."

I smirked. Either ways she's changed... she hasn't. "Alright, phase two is to get the other, girls." I looked into Sydney's black and red eyes and said, "You have the power to do that now."

"Fun," She said. She looked concerned.

"What's wrong, Synthia?" I asked. I turned to Luke. He was silently listening to the conversation.

"It's just... when you say girls... you mean my friends?" She asked slowly pacing the room.

"That is correct. Also, you all will be even better friends when you all have Dark Light in common. Won't you Synthia?" I asked.

She froze staring at the ground. She glanced at Luke and me, then back at the floor and whispered, "Of course."

I smirked and said, "Good. Here is what we need to do..."

Callie

"I wonder where Ms. Harriet went," I murmured. We were sitting on the floor in our superhero outfits. We were waiting for something to happen, but nothing did.

"I bet if Sydney was here, she would find a way to entertain us somehow," Sandra said as she bounced a ball of fire back and forth on her hand. Her eyes following the flame. I put a hand on her shoulder.

"We'll get her back... I still don't even know what happened. She randomly ran down the hallway. She was calling your name... did you call something that I didn't here or something?" I asked.

"No, I was resting in my room. I heard a banging noise in the hallway, but then it went away so I figured it was just one of you that dropped something and the power went out and then my door was stuck, so I thought maybe Sydney was playing a prank and then this happened," Sandra replied as she put the flame away and put her hands on her head.

"Well, what we do know is that Luke did something Sydney. And it had something to do with us not seeing our reflection or shadow and... whatever you and Sydney saw in the mirror..." Nea said, "What was that by the way?"

Rina shuddered, "It was a guy in the mirror with red and black eyes... now that I think about it, I think it was Luke."

"That makes sense! Sydney had red and black eyes—" Nea started,

"But why would Luke do this? What if someone did this to him. Like... some sort of virus maybe?" Rina cut in.

Out of nowhere a light flickered. I looked up at the ceiling light and said, "Um... girls?" They stopped talking and turned to me.

"What is it?" Sandra asked. She made a flame hover over her palm.

"Didn't the lights go out when this entire incident happened?" I asked as the light flickered again. We all exchanged looks for a second then stood up into fighting stances. "I'll go find Ms. Harriet."

Nea grabbed my sleeve and said, "You can't! Sydney left looking for someone and then came back poisoned."

I huffed. What about Ms. Harriet?  "What if Ms. Harriet gets poisoned—"

"You should listen to your friends, Calpernia," A voice said. A girl voice.

The lights went out.

"I can't use my lightning to turn the lights back on. Luke will just absorb it," Rina said as she made a small beam of lightning wrap around her arm. "This will have to do."

"Will it?" We heard the girl's voice from behind us. We all turned around to find...

"Sydney?" I whispered.

"Synthia, actually," She said as made rock mold over her fists.

"Take my hand we have to get out of here!" I yelled everyone crowded together as Sydney... Synthia... Ran toward us from the doorway. I immediately blinked us into the hallway. "Go, go, go!" I shouted.

Sydney turned around and came after us. She was a fast runner. I blinked again and we were back in the room we were originally in.

"Where's Sandra?" Rina yelled. We squinted in the darkness looking around. We heard a scream.

Dang it!

I teleported back to the hallway leaving Rina and Nea in the medic room. I saw Sydney choking Sandra while staring into her eyes.

"Eep!" I shrieked as I teleported behind Sydney and pulled her away. I then tossed Sydney away and quickly grabbed Sandra's hand and teleported back to the medic room. "Sandra are you okay?" I asked one I teleported back. Her usual blue eyes were red, and the white part of her eye was tinted black. I slapped Sandra's face back and forth and chanted, "Don't give in, don't give in!"

She blinked multiple times her eyes returning to their normal color, "That was kinda painful..." She said. Her necklace was fading back to its original gold color also.

"We were so worried! Why didn't you say you were going to leave?" Rina shouted.

"Because it would've taken to long. Sandra would've been poisoned," I said.

"It doesn't matter. You're all gonna be poisoned by the end of the day so..." Sydney said as she appeared at the doorway again. She swung her fists at me and Sandra. I teleported us a millimeter away. Her fist barely brushed my face. I then shoved Sydney into the wall. Her hand collided with it, turning the wall to stone. She growled and grabbed my wrist.

I slowly started turning into stone.

"Sydney, stop!" Rina screamed as she tried shoving Sydney away. It didn't work. I felt the rock slowly travel up my neck.

"I'll do what you want!" I shouted. Sydney froze. The rock stopped spreading.

"What did you say?" Sydney or Synthia, asked.

"I'll do what you want... just... don't turn me into stone. Please," I repeated.

Sydney smirked. The rock rolled off of my arm, "Stare into my eyes and soon you will see... no more fate, only destiny."

I stood in front of her with my eyes closed. Then, I opened them. I didn't look at her eyes though. I looked at her necklace. I snatched the necklace and teleported across the room.

Sydney de-transformed. She stumbled on the ground. The sudden change of transformation made her weak.

"What do we do now?" Rina asked.

"Maybe... maybe electrocuting her with your good lightning will help?" I asked. Rina nodded and walked over to Sydney. She put both of her hands over Sydney's eyes and sent a shock of lightning through them. I closed my eyes and looked away. If this goes wrong... we could've just killed Sydney.

Rina flew back, her back colliding with the wall. Sydney rubbed her eyes. She looked at me, her eyes fading... are those her normal blue eyes?

"Sydney! Is that—"

"No, it's not," Another voice came out of nowhere. It was Luke. At least... the person we think is Luke. He ran over to Sydney and stared into her eyes. Sydney blinked over and over trying to fight it.

Rina shot a bolt of lightning at Luke, but the lightning just turned red and shot back at her. She dodged it and ran toward him. He kicked her back and then turned to me, "Give the necklace back."

"Callie, run!" Sydney screamed. Its her. She's back. But then Luke turned to me his eyes glowing vividly.

So... I teleported and ran down the hallway.
