Chapter 3: Interview With Prince Leonhard

It only took the princes a second to process on what just happened. "Were you listening to me?!" Prince Leonhard yelled at the two Wittgensteins. "I assure you, we were. You do not wish to accept me as your Royal Tutor nor my assistant." Heine said in a civil manner. "'Stupid insects. Screw you and go die' was it?" Lucienne asked to see if her annotation of the prince's speech was correct. "I didn't go that far." Prince Leonhard said in a nervous voice. Heine suddenly took out his teaching rod and pointed at the princes. "It is time for a lesson." Heine said in a firm voice making the entire room (Except Lucienne) gasped at the man's words. "We will not run. Fulfilling our duties as the Royal Tutor and Assistant is our only concern." Heine said in a firm manner. "Your Highnesses' moods change nothing. It is not our job to win you over." Lucienne said with the same expression as her father sharp, and determined. "You refuse to leave, come what may?" Prince Leonhard asked the two with a glare but they didn't answer his question. "Too bad, If we boycott your lessons, Father will have to listen to us. The four of us will join forces and drive both of you out of the positions of Royal Tutor and Assistant!" Prince Leonhard said as he declared war upon the Wittgensteins.

Then suddenly Prince Licht just remembered something. "Uh-oh! Is it time? Sorry, Leo, there's a guest waiting in my room. "Huh?" Prince Leonhard questions his younger brother's actions. "Little Professor, Cute Assistant, if you want to interview me, come by after my guest leaves. This is our special time, so don't interrupt. Tschüss!" Prince Licht said as he left the room. While Heine and Lucienne just looked at the youngest prince in their chibi forms. "Licht...That little idiot." Prince Leonhard gritted as his hand was clenched into a fist. "Another woman, I'm sure. How indecent for a royal." Prince Bruno said as if he was having a headache. "W-Well, I was never counting on his help. My Dear brother Bruno, let's drive out these cocky commoners together!" Prince Leonhard said with a look of admiration for his oldest brother. But Prince Bruno walked passed him and had his attention to the Tutor and Assistant. "I do not have time to deal with you." Prince Bruno said to the Wittgensteins. "Yeah!" Prince Leonhard cheered. "Nevertheless, you are a Royal Tutor and Assistant sent by Father. I suppose I can humor one interview. Come to my room when the clock strikes noon. If either of you are even a second late, you can forget about the interview." Prince Bruno command as he left the room. "Understood." The two Wittgensteins said with a bow to the prince. "N-No way. Bruno?" Prince Leonhard said with the look of betrayal on his features.

Then Prince Kai came up towards the two Wittgensteins glaring down at them from his height. "Get...lo...get...lo..." Prince Kai muttered with a glare. "Kai...?" Prince Leonhard whispers in concern. "Get...lo..." Prince Kai mutters again with his frightening glare. Lucienne pouts at the prince trying to understand what he said to them. 'Get lost?' Lucienne and her Father thought miraculously once again. The two bowed at the Glaring Prince as he also left the room as well.

"Abandoned by all of your brothers?" Heine said in his impassiveness again. "You poor thing, Prince Leonhard." Lucienne teased with a smirk on her pale pink lips. Prince Leonhard blush profoundly at the redhead girl's teasing expression he turns his back towards the two Wittgensteins "Shut up! Don't call me poor." Prince Leonhard yells at Lucienne as his shoulders started to shake. "Do not despair. Join us for an interview." Heine said in his chibi form. "You are not alone." Lucienne comforts in her own chibi form. "I told you, I don't want to! I don't need a stupid Royal Tutor or their annoying assistant, period!" Prince Leonhard yelled in embarrassment. "Yes, yes. Understood." Lucienne said as she and her Father grabbed one of the Prince's arms. "Let us relocate to Your Highness's room." Heine said as they started to drag the youngest Prince out of the room. "Noooooo!!!!!"Prince Leonhard cried out as they walked out of the room.

♚♚♚♚♚♚♚♚♚♚♚♚♚♚

The fourth prince, Leonhard. Age fifteen years old. His reputation as the most beautiful boy on the western continent and even earned him the name of 'The White Lily of Granzreich'. He never boasts of his appearance and is humble and kind to all.

'Or so Father's research would lead us to believe.' Lucienne thought as she stared at the immature Prince in front of her.

"What are you looking at? Do you have something to say to me?" Prince Leonhard yelled giving the Father and Daughter a disgusted look. 'The real thing is a terribly Everest-Proud Prince.' Heine said in his mind while staring at the Prince. "Don't get the wrong idea. I let you two into my room, but I don't accept any of you." Prince Leonhard said with a glare. "I can assure you, Prince Leonhard, we are very well aware." Lucienne said to the Prince as he blushes when he heard the girl say his name. 'She looks cute...' The Prince thought as he shakes his head in embarrassment.' I can't help but feel irritated now...' Heine thought as he watches the two teens like a hawk. 'No matter the purpose of this interview is to learn more about the Prince's temperament. The other goal is to measure his academic with a competency test. I doubt he will obediently take the test...' Heine thought as he looked at the two teens who seemed to behave in a civil manner with each other. 'Perhaps Lucienne could ask him after a brief chat.' Heine thought before Prince Leonhard notices the older Wittgenstein was staring at him. Prince Leonhard glares at the Father and then scoffs at him.

There was a brief moment of silence before anyone could speak.

"Your Highness. You have found us unpleasant since you first saw us, yes?" Heine asked the Prince. "Obviously! I told you. I hate teachers and their assistants." Prince Leonhard said with a distant look on his face. 'Something must have happened that made him despise teachers and assistants...' Lucienne thought as she remembers a time when she was a child and was with a horrible teacher. "Your Highness we've done nothing to you, yet you reject us so strongly. Is there a reason for this--" Lucienne was cut off with Prince Leonhard slamming his hand on the table. "Silence! For me, the very fact that you two are a tutor and an assistant makes both of you despicable. Teachers...Ooh, assistants..." Prince Leonhard said before he gave them a narrow look and pointed at them accusingly. "I hate them as much as I hate carrots and bell peppers!"Prince Leonhard shouted acting just like a child. 'We've suddenly been added to a vegetable food group....' The two Wittgensteins thought as they stared at the prince.

The two Wittgensteins stared at the Prince in their while wearing a Green Bell pepper hat and a Carrot hat. "Your Highness, do you dislike carrots and bell peppers?" Lucienne asked in a monotonous tone. Prince Leonhard gasped as he quickly covered his face to hind the blush dusted upon his cheeks. "S-So what if I do?" Prince Leonhard said bashfully. "There's no need to be bashful Your Highness, everyone has something that they don't like." Lucienne reassured with a smile. The Prince looked at the girl with a glim in his eyes the moment seemed to last a lifetime until Heine interrupted such a tender moment. "Your Highness is surprisingly childish." Heine said with a sharp tongue making the Prince glare at him now. "How dare you! I'm fifteen! I'm a magnificent adult!" Prince Leonhard shouted as a child would after being ridiculed. "I can't spoil my appetite for dinner, so every evening I hold back from eating Sacher torte, my favorite. How do you like that? Very adult, yes?" Prince Leonhard asked with pride. "That is magnificent." Heine said to the Prince. 'For a child.' Heine comments in his mind.

Prince Leonhard then laid his head down on the table with his puppy dog eyes. "Sacher torte...Sacher torte...I want some..." Prince Leonhard mutters as his stomach growls as if to show how much he wants his favorite treat. "Somehow this reminds me of how the twins are when they want their Black forest cake." Lucienne whispers to her father low enough so that the Prince could not hear. "I seem to recall someone acting like this when Apple Strudel is involved." Heine said as he gave his daughter a look. Lucienne quickly turns her head away to avoid her father's stern gaze. "You love Sacher torte that much, do you? But why do you dislike teachers and their assistants that much?" Lucienne asked while changing the subject. The question seemed to snap Prince Leonhard out of his trance and merely scoffed at the girl. "That's none of your business." Prince Leonhard said. "Unless we understand, we cannot do better. As the Royal tutor and Assistant, we would like to build trust with--"

"Teacher or their assistants can't be trusted!" Prince Leonhard shouted cutting off Heine as the wind blew from the opened window. "No educator has ever truly paid attention to me. They're always too busy paying attention to Father's mood." Prince Leonhard said quietly, but the Father and daughter heard every word. 'Aha. He's burdened by complex emotions that come with his princely station.' Heine thought while Lucienne was giving the Prince an anxious look on her face. "And most of all...I hate studying. Teacher's and their assistants force me to study. Therefore, they're my enemy." Prince Leonhard said blankly.' Or it's not complex emotions, after all.' Heine deadpanned in his mind while his daughter used all her energy to not facepalm. "Well, what kind of lessons have you had with previous educators?" Lucienne asked with a dull look on her face. "I've been running from them." Prince Leonhard said with the same look as Lucienne. 'That is too blunt.' The Wittgensteins thought together. "Sometimes at a full-speed sprint. Other times on horseback. It gave me skill and stamina. These are the trophies my physical prowess won for me." Prince Leonhard said proudly as he showed the two Wittgensteins a case for of his trophies piled inside. 'Athletics are the only thing in his head.' The Wittgensteins said in their minds. "Hmph, so? Terrified by my talents?" Prince Leonhard smirked. "You could say so, in more than one way Your Highness." Lucienne said before she received a pinch from her father telling her to stop. 'To think he hates studying to this extent...If I ask him to take my test, will he run outright?' Heine asked in his head before he looked at Prince Leonhard again. "Your Highness, occasionally you must feel like in the mood to study..." As soon as that last word left from Heine's lips Prince Leonhard looked about ready to run. "Or not." Heine said making the Prince relax and sit down again as he and his daughter were in their chibi forms.

Lucienne wanted to test something with the second youngest Prince. "Studying..." Prince Leonhard shot up once again once Lucienne said that word. "Is something you hate, indeed." Lucienne said making the Prince relax on to the couch. Prince Leonhard was staring at the two Wittgensteins with watchful eyes almost ready to run. "What?" Prince Leonhard asked the two chibi Wittgensteins who only stares at him. "Oh, nothing...To tell the truth, I have a pop quiz--" Once the words pop quiz left Heine's mouth Prince Leonhard bolted to the door only to be stopped by Lucienne with her arms sticking out. "You can keep up with my sprint? Not bad even for a woman." Prince Leonhard said to Lucienne. "Please, Your Highness take Father's test." Lucienne said with pleading eyes making the Prince blush beat red at the girl. "Don't worry, it only covers basic problems in language and mathematics." Heine said as he walks up behind the Prince. The Prince turns away from Lucienne and started to sway his arms around like a child. "No way, no how! I can't believe you were hiding a test. I knew Teachers and Assistants couldn't be trusted. Out of my way!" Prince Leonhard shouted. 'No need to throw a tantrum.' Lucienne thought as she stares at the Prince. "Damn it, you leave me no choice." Prince Leonhard said to the Wittgensteins before he ran towards the open window, but not while bumping his desk and making a white book fall on to the floor in the process. "You dropped something, Prince Leonhard." Lucienne said as she picked up the white book. Prince Leonhard looked at his right to see what the red-haired girl was holding he gasped before sprinting back towards the girl. Heine quickly took the book from his daughter's hand and pulled it way from Prince Leonhard's reach. "Hey, Give it here!" Prince Leonhard yelled. "Step, Step, Step, Step, Step" Heine quickly backed away from the Prince. Then Heine rolled under the couch so the Prince couldn't get to him.

From under the couch Heine was laying down while examining the book. 'A dairy?' Heine asked before opening the book.

'Today's regret...When the maid brought my melange, I couldn't say 'thank you' again. I'm hopeless. A lost cause. I don't deserve to live.'

Heine only stared at the pages in disbelief 'An intensely negative diary.' Heine thought as he continued to read.

'Today's regret I ruined the book Bruno lent me. I want to die.

'This is a reflective diary, then?' Heine thought to himself before his daughter called him out. "Father, are you alright in there?" Lucienne asked as she went to her knees to see where her father was. "Come out here, you coward!" Prince Leonhard demanded as he also got on his knees. "Prince Leonhard." Heine said as he out of the couch in his chibi form. "You keep a reflective diary?" Heine asked with an impassive look on his face. The Prince blushed as he became flustered at the question alone. "No, that's...Right, that's my brother's diary! My baby brother Licht have left it in my room." Prince Leonhard said with a panic look on his face. "I see. Lucienne will you return this to Prince Licht?" Heine asked as he passed the book to his daughter. "Yes, father.." Lucienne was about to leave the room before she felt a hand on her shoulder. She turned around to see Prince Leonhard trembling and covering his red face with his hand. "Give it back..." Prince Leonhard said meekly. "Will you take your test?" Lucienne asked the Prince. "I already told your Father I won't! What makes you so sure you'll change my mind?" Prince Leonhard yelled at the red-haired girl.

Not even a second later Lucienne was standing by the open window with the book open in her hands as Heine was holding the Prince. "Today's regret I picked the bell peppers out of my dinner. Oh, how awful I am." Lucienne read as loud as she can out the open window for everyone to hear. "Stop it!" Prince Leonhard pleaded as he tried to get out of Heine's grasp. Lucienne only turned to look at him impassively before she returned to the Prince's punishment. "Today's regret I ran away from my lessons like a complete moron. Oh, why me." Lucienne continues. "Yeah fine! I'll take your stupid test! I promise not to run away! So cut it out, you sadistic woman!" Prince Leonhard yelled more like pleaded to Lucienne.

♚♚♚♚♚♚♚♚♚♚♚♚♚♚

Prince Leonhard sobbed as he takes the test Heine gave to him. "I'm not made of time, you know. Why should I take this stupid test?" Prince Leonhard complains as he continues to cry. Heine smacked his teacher's pointer on the palm of his hand to make Prince Leonhard quite and it worked. Prince Leonhard continues to work until he looked up to Heine again with a serious look on his face. "As a prince, I order you to tell me the answer to number one." Prince Leonhard demanded. "If we told you the answers, it wouldn't be a test, now would it?" Lucienne said with a deadpan. Prince Leonhard looks at the girl with a blush of embarrassment on his cheeks. "I hate your guts!" Prince Leonhard whined as he scribbled away on the test.

About half an hour later Prince Leonhard was still taking the test. Lucienne decided to look at the diary everyone was getting so worked up about. Once she read through the book she looks back at Prince Leonhard who was hard at work 'Once he begins, he tackles it seriously, at least. I hope I'll be able to tear down his walls so he can be a worthy Prince.' Lucienne thought as she continues to read the book.

'I'm not good at socializing. I tend to run away from my lessons and things I dislike, but I want to fix that part of me bit by bit. I want to become a magnificent person like Bruno one day.'

'One wouldn't think that the Everest-Proud Prince to have a sensitive side. Maybe he's just shy and lonely, deep down. Looking for someone to help and guild him. Just using his pride to hide all of his insecurities.' Lucienne thought as she looked at the Prince with caring eyes. "Here, happy now?" Prince Leonhard said as he handed the test to Heine. "Thank you, I have indeed received your answer sheet. We will see you in the reception hall at four o' clock." Heine said. "As if I'd go!" Prince Leonhard shouted at Heine. "His Majesty the King instructed us to give equal attention to all four of Your Highnesses. I will only begin my lessons if we are able to gather you all together." Heine said in a serious tone. "I don't a royal tutor or your assistant, got it? Get out!" Prince Leonhard yelled at the two Wittgensteins. "Is that so..." The two Wittgensteins said together before they left the room. Prince Leonhard only stares at the doors in shock "Huh? They actually left? Huh?" Prince Leonhard muttered in shock.' I mean, I didn't want them to stick around, but it ticks me off that they left so quickly...and that girl....Gah! She's making a fool of me! If that's how it's going to be maybe I'll complain to father, Lucienne!' Prince Leonhard yells in his mind as he ruffles his hair in irritation. Until Prince Leonhard calms down and sits on the couch then he picks up his diary and looks at it. He remembers how Lucienne was reading it in a thoughtful manner. No smile, no laughter just a pure calm manner 'I thought if anyone ever read my diary, they'd laugh at me...Annoying sadist woman thinks she can read my private thoughts. Good riddance!' Prince Leonhard thought with a scoff. Suddenly he heard a knock on his door' So they came back? Well, it's already too late. I guess I can humor them this once.' Prince Leonhard thought with a smirk. Prince Leonhard first fixed his blond hair before giving permission to whoever was at the door. "Pardon me." A high pitched voice said making the Prince look up to see that it was one of the maids instead of the Wittgensteins. "Here is what Your Highness requested." The maid said holding up a tray in her hands. "Huh? I didn't ask for anything." Prince Leonhard said in confusion. "Huh? But...I was instructed to serve this to Your Highness." The maid said as she placed the tray on the table. The maid gave the Prince a bow before she left the room. The Prince looked at the tray to see that it was his favorite sweet treat Sacher torte. Prince Leonhard notice there was a note next to the treat. The Prince picked up the note and started to read from it "Thank you for your hard work. If you continue your hard work I'll gladly make you Sacher torte myself-Lucienne" The Prince didn't understand but when he saw it was Lucienne's name written on the note his heart started to pound in his chest.

Prince Leonhard looked back at the Sacher torte "I-I guess I don't have to tell Father. But I won't put up with them again." The Prince said quietly to himself before he took a bite out of the chocolate treat. "Sacher torte is so yummy..."

♚♚♚♚♚♚♚♚♚♚♚♚♚♚

"You shouldn't have baby him, Lucienne." Heine scolded his daughter. "But Father he finished the test without any trouble. He deserved it. Never mind that the next Prince is..."

♚♚♚♚♚♚♚♚♚♚♚♚♚♚

In another room, Prince Bruno closed a book in his hands and looked at the doors with a cold gaze. "Heine and Lucienne Wittgenstein. You two have nothing to teach me." Prince Bruno said in a sharp voice.
