Afira's P.O.V
I walked out of my room and only met with flashes. Flashes of cameras. I lowered my head and stayed close by Ammi, "Aaliyah fix your saree," Sana hissed.
"I can't, I don't wear sarees, remember?" Aaliyah whispered, tackling her saree. Her saree was absolutely elegant! I mean obviously I was looking stunning but my bridesmaid was looking gorgeous! Sana is wearing a blue and pink saree; Aaliyah was wearing the exact same colour but she has like saree but designed a lehnga. Although, she had a little more decorations on hers, lastly, Tallaha was wearing a simple blue and pink anarkali.
"The pin near your chest, take it off and put it on your shoulders," Sana whispered and then smiled at the camera. I maintained myself from giggling.
"Afsa, bring Afira to the car," Baba orders, Ammi carefully bought me to the car... I took a quick glance at the car in front of me, it was a long black limo, covered with roses. I hung my head low and entered the car, with my Sana and Ammi sitting right beside me. Sana held my hand.
"Don't be nervous, it's your big day!" Sana squealed, I gave her quick nod. Ammi took a look at me, she kissed my forehead and wiped her tears. My heart broke seeing a tear in her eyes, I engulfed her into a hug.
"My daughter is now a big girl, she's getting married today," Baba said from the front, the car started and everyone, including me, started reciting the dua when riding a vehicle, "Bismillah, Alhamdu lillah. Subhanal-ladhi sakhkhara lana hadha wa makunna lahu muqrinin. Wa "inna "ila Rabbina lamunqalibun. Alhamdu lillah, alhamdu lillah, alhamdu lillah, Allahu "Akbar, Allahu "Akbar, Allahu "Akbar, subhanakal-lahumma "inni zalamtu nafsi faghfir li, fa"innahu layaghfirudh-dhunuba "illa "Anta."
During the ride everyone consoled everyone, at times I'd cry and then Aaliyah would scold me. Soon enough we arrived at the hall, everything was blue and pink, with shades of red. My heat beat was so strong that I thought it'll burst out of my chest. I took big deep breaths, but it didn't help. Today's the day. My wedding day. We were the first one's there, it gave us time to sort everything out. Aaliyah seated me in the big pink chair, it was very comfy. I held Aaliyah's hand before she could leave, "Don't leave me," I pleaded.
"I'm coming back, Tallaha! Sit next to Fee! Now!" Aaliyah shouted across the hall. I stared at Aaliyah, "Oh, sorry..." She said sheepishly. My gaze shifts to someone in a blue and gold saree walking into the hall, she looks around and then her gaze falls on to me. It was Marium! She rapidly walked to me and squeezed me into a hug.
"Afira! Mubarak ho!" Marium congratulated me.
"Thank you," I whispered out.
"Sit," I sat down and watched all the guest arrived one by one, meanwhile Marium spoke to me, and I only listened.
The groom's family arrived after an hour, my back was already aching, I was taken into a room where I could stretch and re-do my make-up, so far in that hour I've only cried twice. Is that good or bad? Everyone literally ran when the groom arrived, having their cameras ready in their hand and a can of silly strings spray. Now, I was sitting comfortably in the sofa, next Sana and Aaliyah, people came up to me one by one, asking to take pictures with me or just teasing me. Soon enough the time came, I felt a wave of tears coming, I bit my lips trying to halt myself. Before Molvi Shahib came up to us, in the women section, which was upstairs, Ammi put the blue, soft duppata over my head, Molvi Shahib read out some duas and prayers, everyone listened quietly, a tear escaped my waterline. Seconds later I started crying, soundlessly.
It felt like hours after the Molvi Shahib was finally done, he came to the part we all were holding our breaths for. Where I finally accept Hussain as my husband. "Kya, Afira Siddeka Abullah qubul karte hai?" Molvi Sahib asked. I sat down there, no words coming out of my mouth. Sana squeezed my hand, "Kya ap ko qubul hai?" He asked once again.
"Qubul hai," the words slipped out of my mouth so easily, he asked me the same question twice more and still my answer was the same... 'Qubul hai.' Everyone applauded, then stopped to hear Hussain's answer. Thankfully, his answer was the same, throughout the three times. In seconds the hall was full of praises, only I was crying. Ammi came and hugged me, she had tears of joy and sadness in her eyes. She was happy to see me finally settling down with my life, however, she was letting go of her only daughter.
"Don't cry beti, smile. You finally have someone who will take your hand and keep you happy for the rest of your life. May Allah always keep you happy," Ammi blessed me, I grabbed her into a hug.
"Ammi I don't want to leave."
"I said the same. I'm sure we all did. But look at us now. Look at me down. I have one little lovely daughter. And if it's Allah's will He will do the same for you in a few years' time." Ammi blessed me.
"Fee, habibti, it's time to eat... And..." Sana couldn't finish her words because tears formed in her eyes, "It's tears of joy, silly, seeing you go into someone else's house, who will keep you happy forever." Ammi giggled, both of them helped me up and took me to the long table, where I sat next to Hussain.
"How's my Mrs. Asif doing?" He asked with a smirk playing on his lips. I bowed my head down. "Really? Shy? That's something new." Can he not let me play bride for one day?
"Tuck in," Hussain's Ammi, now my Ammi said to everyone. We read our duas before eating, dear Almighty, please bless us two families, keep us happy and safe. Ameen. I could only eat a little, the nervousness already had me fall. I could not even eat my favourite deserts, kheer.
"Eat more," Hussain said, I shook my head, "Oh come on Mrs. Asif, stop using your head to answer me, use your mouth," he muttered.
Throughout the meal either Hussain was talking to me, calling me 'Mrs. Asif' or someone else would some and create a conversation with me, though I could not give them a proper reply. We had already cut the wedding cake, which was blue. A very unique cake. But beautiful. Eventually, after all the pictures and food, the time came to say farewell. I walked to Ammi and Baba, bidding them goodbye. "Beta, a father is asking his son to take care of his daughter. To give her all the happiness she deserves. To protect her. To always be there for her." Baba begged him.
"Of course Baba, I'll always be there for her, to wipe her tears and smile with her." Hussain ensured Baba.
I went to Sana's parents then Aaliyah's parents, "You were very little when I first carried you, look at you now, married." Khala, Sana's Ammi said, wiping her tears. I smiled, then went to Sameer Bhai.
"Bhai..." I trembled.
"Shh... You are an amazing sister, you're annoying, but loving. I'll always love you and always have your back. Anytime you need me just call me," Sameer Bhai quickly wiped his tears before they had a chance to escape, I clinged on to him and sobbed. I finally let go of him, he walked to Hussain, "you're now my brother, and as a brother I am asking you, my brother to take care of my sister." Bhai pleaded, Hussain nodded and hugged him. I cuddled Tallaha, Sana, Aaliyah than Marium. It was my time to go... My face was a wet, I'm pretty sure my face is covered with mascara stains by now. Everyone took me to the big black limo decorated with flowers, I hugged Ammi and Baba once again, before Zara and Ammi (Hussain's Mom) escorted me inside the car. I sat beside Hussain and Zara, everyone else sat around. The car started... Heading towards my new house. My new life. As my future now awaits.
