Chapter 42

Salam! Ok... Happy LATE Bengali New Year to everyone! Ok... I'm late, I know. But... I've updated... My everyday excuse... It's been a stressful week, everyday of my life is stressful. Waking up. Getting dress. Going school. Seeing peoples' faces. Too much! But one way to relieve all that stress is to write. Write my story. For all of you. I know I updated late but that's only because I was trying to make it really good...

Anyways, above is what Afira is wearing for the day. I love her outfit! It's so unique... I mean everyone wears red, but not blue... When my Mum was getting married she wore blue... Just saying... :P

Also, I've uploaded the song above and below! Enjoy!

PRETEND ALL THE JEWELLERY ARE BLUE!

"No relation is all sunshine, but two people can share one umbrella and survive the storm together."

Afira's P.O.V

The haldi procedural had started. Everyone from my family had already arrived, Aaliyah came with Tallaha and Sana, wearing a yellow and white lehnga, which honestly suited her really well, on the other hand Tallaha was wearing a yellow and red suit, lastly, Sana came in wearing a wonderful bright yellow saree. Nobody has yet applied haldi on me.

Hussain's Ammi and Zara came in with some gifts and blessed me, Zara looked stunning, as always. Bu today she looked incredible wearing a yellow and black saree.

"Afira?" Sana called out.

I looked up to her. "Haan?"

"I just wanted to tell you something," I nodded and she carried on. "You know, at the start of your engagement I noticed you were looking a bit excited, but at the end you look a little... Hurt?" I looked down, at the end of the engagement was when Hussain told me everything was just a show.

"It nothing like-" However without hearing my side Sana carried on speaking.

"On your mehndi you looked a little... Worried, but at the end you looked more relived. Aaliyah noticed this too." I smiled at her, although they didn't know what exactly was happening in my life at that moment in time they could still sense tension. No matter how many times I told them everything was fine, they knew it wasn't.

"I... It... Hu-" Aaliyah came over and put her hands over my mouth.

"Haan. Haan. It's fine. As long as everything is fine then you don't need to tell us, if you don't want to, of-course." Aaliyah told me. I smiled and pulled them into a group hug.

"Aww. Our baby is getting married!" Aaliyah squeaked, I giggled.

"Careful with my baby," Sana pointed to her stomach, we giggled.

"Everybody, should we start the ceremony?" Ammi asked in Hindi, I could hear echoes of people saying 'yes.' Ammi got the haldi and applied it on my facei, other people followed her actions. Aaliyah got up and turned on the music, but played it on a low volume.

Banno Re Banno Meri, Chali Susraalo Ko

Ankhiyon Mein Paani De Gayi, Duaa Mein

Meethi Gud Dhaani Le Gayi...

Haaye...

Banno Re Banno Meri, Chali Susraalo Ko

Ankhiyon Mein Paani De Gayi, Duaa Mein

Meethi Gud Dhaani Le Gayi...

Sameer Bhai came to front and dunk his hand inside the haldi and wiped it all over face, I shivered at his cold touch, "Bhai!" I squealed, he chuckled and hugged me.

"I'm going to miss you Fee, your leaving me," he looked down, "with Tallaha," he bit his lips, I shook my head.

"Be nice," I ordered.

"See... I'm going to miss you complaining and ordering me around."

"Whatever Bhai, now she can go order her dear pati dev," Tallaha came behind Sameer Bhai.

"Of-course, how I feel sorry for Hussain," Aaliyah taunted.

Re Kabira... Maan Ja...

Re Fakira... Yun Na Ja...

Aaja Tujhko Pukaarein Teri Parchhaiyaan

Re Kabira... Maan Ja...

Re Fakira... Yun Na Ja...

Kaisa Tu Hai Nirmohi, Kaisa Harjaaiya...

"Guys, leave Fee alone," Sana shooed everyone and then smeared haldi over my arm, Aaliyah did the same next.

Re Kabira...

Re Kabira...

Re Fakira...

Re Fakira...

Re Fakira...

"Sana, your stomach," I motioned Sana to her stomach.

"I know, it's not big, but it's big. I mean for two months, it's quite big," Sana said, very confusingly.

"Yes, well... truthfully I have a feeling that you're not having a baby," Sana gave me a horrified expression, "... But babies..." I added immediately, Sana gawked at me in fear.

"... Fee..." Sana groaned, with a nervous gaze.

"But I don't have my machines with me and you're not pregnant between 10-13 weeks, so really I can' confirm anything," I explained to her, she nodded.

Re Kabira...

Re Kabira...

Re Kabira...

Re Kabira...

The song had ended and everyone in the room had applied haldi on me, "Aaliyah beti, can you help Afira out? Get her ready for her wedding, please," Ammi asked Aaliyah.

"Ji Khala," Aaliyah said, Aaliyah leaded me to my room so I could take a quick bath.

"Hurry up; don't take 2 hours in there," Aaliyah instructed.

"So when do I think about life?" I grumbled.

"When you're married," Aaliyah replied back sarcastically.

I came out of the bathroom, tightly holding onto my bath rope, while my hair was wrapped in a hair turbun. "Finally, you're out, you made it in just an hour. Well done Fee babe," Aaliyah blew a kiss. Abruptly, my phone vibrated, I picked up and miming Aaliyah a 'sorry.'

"Hello," I called out.

"AsalamWalayKum Afira," a familiar voice greeted me.

"No way! Marium! WalayKumAsalam! How have you been? How have you remembered me all of a sudden? Do you know how many times I've called you and texted you?" I erupted her with questions.

"Take a breath! My phone wasn't working, I'm sorry, but now I've checked all of the 28 messages and saw 19 phone calls," I gave out a nervy titter, who knew I texted and called her so many times? "It's ok. And I called you to tell you that I'm very, very, very sorry I couldn't attend to any of our functions but I promise I'll be present at your wedding." Marium vowed.

"Good, I'll be waiting for you,"

"By the way, who is the lucky man," Marium asked, I could sense the smirk that's playing on her lips.

"Hussain," I said, not above a whisper.

"Woah. Woah. Woah. Hussain Asif? Are you joking? I always knew you guys had something. But when did hatred turn into love? This is like those typical stories? What's next? Someone stopping your wedding?" I laughed at Marium's thoughts. Aaliyah came over and tapped me on my shoulders, signalling to hurry up, I nodded.

"Sorry Marium, I've got to get ready, you know how Aaliyah is with getting ready? But I'll meet you in a couple of hours,"

"Of-course, give Aaliyah and your family my Salam," I agreed then hung up.

"Now, are you ready to get ready?" Aaliyah asked, I shook my head.

"Where's Ammi and Sana?" I asked.

"Their coming with other supplies you'll need," Aaliyah told me. "Ok, take your bridal wear, go into the bathroom and quickly wear it, Khala will come up and fix it into place for you," Aaliyah initiated, "I'll just grab all the cosmetic box."

"Where's the make-up artists?" I asked, confused.

"Right next to you," she said, indicating herself.

"Oh." I rushed into the bathroom ready to put on my bridal wear. It was a blue, soft velvet lehnga, the duppata had a bit of red and pink. It looked splendid! I wore it carefully, scared to ruin it. Even though it felt very weighty, it felt comfortable... For the time being, anyway. I came out awkwardly, not knowing how I looked.

"MashAllah you look marvellous!" Aaliyah complimented while finding everything. Right that moment Ammi and Sana entered my room.

"We have to hurry up we've got only 2 hours," Sana hurried.

"Yes, I'm doing Afira's make-up, Sana you do her hair and Khala do you mind fitting up her lehnga?" Ammi nodded and instantly started fitting my legnga, adding lots of pins to secure everything into place.

"Vaise, tis lehnga was specifically chosen by Hussain," Mom said it 'randomly,' while doing my lehnga.

"Ammi!" I groaned, making her chuckle.

"Oh please, when you get married you'll be asking your hubsnad what to wear each day!" Sana commented.

"Acha? But I'm not you? Aaquil aaj mein kya phenoo" I mimicked, Sana blushed. It was true! She does do that!

"I'm done, Sana get started on her hair, I'll go change," Mum ordered, I sat down in front of the dressing table ready for Sana to do my hair.

"Close your eyes!" Sana told me.

"Why?" I frowned.

"You see your hair you have to be surprised." She explained. I did what she told me and closed my eyes.

At least an hour later Sana was done doing my hair, she had allowed me to open my eyes. I fluttered my eyes open and stared at myself in the mirror, I was amazed! I looked incredible! "Ta Da." Sana said, proud of her doings.

"You're amazing!" I told Sana.

"Thanks, I'll go change." Sana exited the room and entered another room, to change.

"Alright my turn, and because of you guys I only have 30 minutes to do her make-up!" Aaliyah complained.

"Just do it." Sana snapped from afar. Aaliyah got going, I sat in my uncomfortable seat, trying to stay as calm as possible. My wedding is going to start in less than an hour! After 10 minutes I was getting very fidgety...

"Stay still!" Aaliyah barked,

"Jeez, chill, my ass is hurting for sitting here for 2 hours," I said in defence.

"I'm nearly done," she applied eye shadow and eye liner, the cold liquid collided with my skin, tickling me.

After another 20 minutes Aaliyah was done, I got up and stretched, "don't stretch, you might ruin your clothes," Sana said, I heaved a sigh. I looked at myself in the mirror, and honestly I couldn't recognize myself. I looked splendid! Aaliyah ran to the nearest bathroom to quickly change, meanwhile everyone else was already changed. Sana came and placed all the jewellery, from necklace to earing, toarmband to anklets, to nose rings to tikka. I felt like a princess. No a queen. Ammi arose to me, kissed my forehead, supervisory her waterworks and put the duppata over my head, as a veil.

1827 words! Damn. How did you like it. It wasn't much. But just showed love from her friends and elder brother... Something I wished I had... I have two younger brothers, yet I wish I had an elder one. To protect me. To guide me. To fight for me. Yet with me. And love me. Everyone who has a brother, love them. Because someone in the world AKA ME wishes to have one! (I'm the eldest= Stress).

Anyway, until another time... Goodbye!
