Chapter 37

AsalamWalayKum! Hey guys! How have you all been? I'm sorry for the late update, I had exams and I had no inspirations for my next chapter... And I'm sick... I've got a deep voice now... People say they like it better than my normal voice... -_-  Which is an insult but I don't take it personally...

Recently, I had science mocks, which I guess altogether I did well, because I got a C.

Biology- 11/60 = That was very difficult.

Chemistry- 24-60 = In my opinion I did well.

Physics- 23/60 = Still did well.

I'm pretty open about my grades, so... (BTW, DON'T LET MY GRADES PUT YOU DOWN... WHATEVER YOU GOT YOU DID WELL, I'M NOT SHOWING OFF, NOR AM I CONFIDENT WITH MY GRADES I JUST LIKE LETTING IT KNOW TO PEOPLE THAT I'M HAPPY WITH MY GRADE... BUT I CAN DO BETTER!)

And on Monday and Tuesday (Today), I had coursework.

Mondays' paper was out of 20 and I got 19/20. Which again I think I did well... Just waiting for today's paper's results, which was out of 30... InShAllah I did well.

Anyways, back to my book, I've updated, and I have a new cover hopefully you'll like it.

If you notice any mistakes please do let me know. Thank you! xx

"Inhale confidence. Exhale doubt."

Hussain's P.O.V

I conducted myself to Uncle's room, while Afira shadowed behind me. But before migrating into the room we managed to put on false smile. "What's your decision Afira?" Abbu asked us straight away, Afira grinned ear to ear before answering.

"I've taken my time and I've got my answer... And my answer is... I'd like to marry Hussain," everyone got up and clasped Afira and me.

"Afira beta, you don't know how happy we are to hear your decisions!" Afira's Dad exclaimed and hugged her. Afira still had her 'smile' on her face, but I could see how much it hurt her to even smile. I felt partly guilty. How could I do this to her?

You love her buddy, just go with the flow.

I can't. Not by hurting her.

Right, go tell her you have feelings for her and see how she laughs at your face. Remember when you're around her you're insecure, so how you'll be able to tell her that.

"The engagement will be held 2 days later!" Amir Uncle announced, cheerfully. Afira eyes widened, she looked like she was about to cry, my guilt was slowly cutting through me.

I pulled Afira and said, "We've got to stop it."

"No... We can't..." She whispered, she blinked back the tears, put a smile back on her face and tottered to her Father.

"Acha Amir Bhai, we must leave. We've got to do a lot of shopping, InShAllah we'll come and visit tomorrow." We gave our last hugs and left the room.

I drove silently thinking about Afira. I could only feel culpability. Nothing else. How could I be so self-regarding?

This also benefits her.

I've got to stop talking to myself, my evil conscious is taking over me and giving me the wrong thoughts, "Sain beta, your Abbu and I were thinking tomorrow at 10 we'll all go shopping and pick up an outfit you and Afira. We also thought the colour could be peach," Ammi said, I simply nodded.

We got out of the car and stepped into our house. Firstly, we went to our rooms and got fresh then we went downstairs to have a bite. "I have messaged everyone that the theme colour will be peach, all that is left to do is go shopping," Ammi announced in the dining room, I only nodded and leered. I couldn't eat. I forced myself to eat only half of my meal and excused myself. I stuffed my hands in my pockets and walked to the window where I could see the glimmering moon, "I can't believe I stooped that low. What was I thinking?" I asked myself in disbelief. I walked away and lied down on my bed, hoping to get some sleep.

"Sain!" Ammi screamed and entered my bedroom, "Sain, wake up," Ammi shook me, I felt as if she shook my whole soul.

"Haan?" I yawned, I hadn't gotten much sleep last night due to me over thinking.

"Tumhari sagaee hai kal aur tum yahan so rahay ho?" Ammi tutted me.

"Oh, ji Ammi, I'll get up now," I jumped out my bed and ran to get ready, not wanting my Mother to scream at me any further. I got into the bathroom and wore a white shirt, black jeans and a black leather jacket. I took a cereal bar from the kitchen and got into the car... Where my whole family was sitting? "We're all going?" I asked.

"Haan, just drive," Ammi commanded, I obeyed.

We got to mall and instantly Ammi and Zara pulled me to the women's store. "Ammi, I don't want to go in, you guys go in I'll go with Abbu," I pleased, but she gave me the death. "Fine." I muttered. We looked around for mehndi outfits and haldi wear, as Afira's parents will be picking out her engagement outfit and bridal wear.

"Excuse me, do you mind showing me the most elegant and expensive mehndi wear you have," Zara asked the sale man, I looked away in boredom, but then something caught my eye. It was a mustard and pink saree, I imagined Afira wearing.

I tugged Ammi's arm like a little boy, "Ammi! This one!" I pointed towards the saree.

"That?" Ammi examined, I nodded.

"It would look great on Afira and it describes her to: Different." I stated. In a mehndi function you normally wear a green coloured saree but for Aaliyah's mehndi function Afria wore something slightly different. And she stood out too. Why not do the same for our mehndi ceremony?

"We'd like to buy that one please, aur Sain go find some jewelleries to match the saree, Zara you help him please dear." Zara leaded the way to some jewellery stores but none were appealing.

"Is there any other stores, these look like they were found in the garbage," I whispered to Zara, nonetheless Zara rolled her eyes.

"Bhai, you are so picky, anything will look good on Afira, can you just pick something? How about those pink jewellery set, and the pink bangles next to it?" I looked to the set she was pointing and automatically a smiled appeared on my face.

"I didn't know my baby sister has a worthy taste in jewellery," I patted her back in authorisation.

"Really Bhai? I see you don't have much faith in your sister, and I'm not a baby, I'm married and have a 3-year-old daughter!" She paced off to call Ammi.

"In my eyes you will always be my baby sister," I yelled out, she came back to me and gave me a small hug then jogged off to Ammi.

Ammi and Abbu had gone to visit Amir Uncle, we had bought the haldi wear, as well as the mehndi wear. I just hope everything goes well tomorrow...
