Chapter 26

Happy new year! I know I've wished you last time, but what's wrong with wishing you again? I know I haven't updated for long, but here I am with an update! I feel like I'm getting closer to my main plot. Well my first main plot anyways. So please spam me with comments and press the star! Make me smile on new year! Thank you! Love you all!!!

Afira's P.O.V

  It was New Year's Eve. Couple of weeks ago my parents decided to hold a grand dinner party only for our families, (Aaliyah's, Sana's, Aaquil's, Ibrahim's and Hussain's) I thought the idea was a little crony, however I decided not to oppose to the idea, being together as a large family seemed awfully engaging. So here I am in my blue and white salwar kameez, sitting at the dining table, in between my two best friends who have forgiven me for my vile, comical and minor mistake. Unlike the last party I decided to stay away from demons that may have a chance ruining my new year.

We all finished our dinner, which my mother had made, it tasted like it was personally sent from Heaven. My mother definitely has magical hands. We were eating and talking, replaying our best moments and the most embarrassing ones too.

After, we all went to the living room to talk some more, "And that was the story of how my Angel learnt to walk." My dad said, the story was I was sitting down in my garden, where I thought I saw a snake but it actually was a worm. Don't blame me, I had the mind of a 9 month or younger year old, so I didn't have no clue between the differences in worms and snakes. To me they seemed the same. So... There was one next to me, I started screaming, my mom was in the kitchen getting my bottle, I thought the snake was going to eat me so I tried to get up, which I did and ran to my mom, hugging her. And that's how I learnt to walk. After my dad told everyone the story Hussain busted out laughing.

"So little Afira's scared of snakes?" Hussain teased.

"Nope. In fact, I like snakes. I've touched them before. Very friendly." I reported back.

"Actually Hussain, Afira was very brave, unlike you." Hussain's mom narrowed her eyes at Hussain.

"Now there's a story I'd like to hear." I sneered.

"Mom!" Hussain exclaimed as we all laughed at his expression.

"Excuse me. I'll go make tea." I excused myself to go to the kitchen.



 I got into the kitchen and started right away making the tea. "Ya Allah. Only an hour left till new year, nothing stupid has happened yet, please leave it that way. You know how I am with new years'?" I prayed to Allah.

"But when Hussain's around he likes things his way. And perfect isn't the best word to describe it." I turned around and mentally shot myself.

"A-Ah. Dear Hussain. What brings you here? Coffee or tea?" I asked Hussain sweetly.

"I'd like coffee... Still have that crush on me?" Hussain inquired casually.

"Hussain, I'm not like other girls who walk behind you. I like to walk at the front. I had a very minor crush on you because we were little and you seemed nice. But now you're a jackass that I strongly dislike, I hate to say this but stay away from me, I don't want you ruining my new year." I was beyond furious, he thinks every girl will like him, well he sure is wrong.

"You're different that's why I love messing with you." I picked up the knife from the side.



"I swear Hussain, get out of the kitchen right now before I stab you and go jail!" I threatened Hussain, he didn't look scared, but amused. I wasn't really going to stab him, I just wanted to scare him to leave me alone.

"I see after all Afira is no longer scared of knives," before I had a chance to comment back Ammi came into the kitchen in shock.

"Afira! What are you doing with a knife? Why is it pointing towards Hussain?" Mom asked in utter shock.

"Ammi I was just..." I tried thinking of an excuse but Hussain decided to interfere.

"Aunty! Aunty! Thank God you're here! Your daughter was threatening to kill me and then go jail." Hussain said in an innocent like voice.

"Nahi. Mein toh-" Ammi cut me off.

"Afira. Behave and apologise to Hussain beta now." My Mother demanded and I did so too. Hussain left the kitchen with his shoulders high. After my Mother helped me make tea and coffee for everyone. As soon it was ready I took it out and handed it to our guests. I got to Hussain and smirked.

"Here you go Hussain." My eyes lit up with glee as he took a big sip; and continued sipping until he realised something was wrong. He spat out the coffee making a mess on his newly white shirt; his face was full of distaste.

"What's in here?" Hussain asked.


*Flashback*

Mom got the tea and coffee ready, she put all the cups on the tray. Mom turned around to get the biscuit jar. I thought this was my chance to teach Hussain a lesson. I took the coffee jar and put in 3 tea spoons of coffee. I quickly got the pepper powder and added some in it too. This new year he'll never forget. I smiled to myself.

"Afira. Done?" Ammi asked, I nodded.

"Afira, please talk to Hussain with manner." I smiled. We took the trays and got out of the hot kitchen.

*End of Flashback*


"Nothing, only water, milk, sugar and coffee. That's all." I smiled evilly at Hussain.

"Nothing else?" Hussain raised his eyebrows.

"Bilcol nahi. Ammi se pocho." I raised my hands in surrender.

"Afira beta, take him to the washroom and get him a new shirt." I sighed, but followed my Father's instructions.

I handed Hussain one of my dad's new shirt, that he has never wore. "I know you put something in my coffee."

"Your right. I did. More coffee and pepper. How did it taste?" I grinned, I was walking away when he grabbed my upper arm.



"Owww... Hussain you're hurting me." I howled in pain.

"And this won't be the end." He let go of my arm and walked away. Asshole. I rubbed my arm.



"Afira 15 minutes left!" Sana squealed.

"Yup." I said not bothered.

"Let's all go out and explode some fireworks at 12!" Zain exclaimed. We all headed out with a box of fireworks in Aaquil's hands.

"Ok. We all know the safety rules of playing with fireworks, right?" Sana's Dad asked us all, we nodded.

Twelve seconds left till 2016. Eleven. We all starts counting down. "10! 9! 8! 7! 6! 5! 4! 3! 2! 1! Happy new year!" One by one a let our fireworks explode into the air, with joy. The couples hugged each other and wished everyone happy new year. I ran into Sana and Aaliyah and wished them a happy new year. I hugged everyone else, except the boys. Our parents went inside to spend more time together leaving us alone to play with more fireworks.

I was preparing to explode my third fireworks when one next to me exploded, leaving me to spring and yelp. Everyone laughed around me, making me feel small. I looked around and see Hussain was behind this. I felt a rush of anger but held it down. Nothing can ruin my new year, not even him. I smiled at him. "Happy new year princess." Hussain smirked.

"Happy new year Hussain." I gritted my teeth.

And that's how my new year went, getting back at Hussain, arguing with him whenever I got the chance and our parents telling us off.
