"I want to be the reason behind your ankle because surely you are the reason behind mine."
Afira's P.O.V
I ran into the nearest bathroom and took a look at my face covered in tomato sauce. I shirked in horror again. "I look horrible!" Now I remember why most of the time why Hussain and I never got along. That clumsy asshole always did something wrong, that would ruin my day. One reason why I won't ever marry him: His clumsiness gets the best of him. Now I have to get all this tomato sauce off my face and clothes. I pushed the soap button lots of times to get enough soap that will get rid of the smell as well as the marks. No-one was in the bathroom at the moment, probably eating. Done. I took a look at myself from the mirror and let out a satisfied sigh. My makeup has run off, though I still look good without makeup, however, a girl has to be always prepared for the worst, that's why back up makeup is needed. I sprayed some perfume on myself, applied some pink lip gloss; and walked out of the bathroom in satisfaction. I went to look for Aaliyah.
"Hey, where were you?" Aaliyah asked curiously.
"Don't ask. What's happening now?" I tried to change the subject.
"There's twenty minutes left till this function ends then we can all go home. Sana and I are going to the room; you're coming with us and telling us where you disappeared to for one hour." Aaliyah pointed her index finger at me while she spoke. Aaliyah Ahmed does not let anything go.
"Fee! There you are! Where were you? Never mind. Marium left ten minutes ago, she couldn't find you anywhere so she asked me to give you her salams." Sana was breathless, but before I could give an answer to what Sana just had said Aaliyah grabbed our hands and leisurely took us upstairs to her temporary room. Aaliyah shut the door and asked us to take a seat, I don't know about Sana but I was paralysed with fear, who could trust Aaliyah?
"Now Afira Siddeka Abdullah you are going to explain where you were for one hour?" Aaliyah cleared her throat.
"Yeah, where were you?" Sana added on.
"I was eating with Hussain." I tried to ignore their gazes.
"May we know why you were eating with you Hussain, the one man on earth you hate?" I decided to answer Aaliyah's question and get this over and done with.
I explained the whole story to my friends, as I was explaining the silence lay on my skin like poison. Finally Sana responded to what I had said, "Oh. I see. Very... Interesting."
"I find yours and Hussain's relationship very unique... Once there's love the next there's hatred. What do you feel towards him? Love or hate?" Aaliyah inquired.
"Hate obviously, but remembering our childhood together seems very adorable." I said in deep thoughts.
"He was your first crush after all." Sana said out of the blue, my eyeballs nearly ripped out of my sockets.
"Oh yes. I remember," Said Aaliyah.
"Can we forget that, please?" I begged.
"Why? It was adorable!" Sana grinned.
"I was young at that time; I didn't even know what crush even meant." I defended myself.
"I know you didn't but you were head to toes over him, and you were even ready to marry him!" Sana laughed from the memory.
"He was nice at that time. And I don't like him now!" I folded my arms across my chest.
"Of-course not. You still like him, just as you liked him when you were young." Aaliyah said sarcastically.
"Oh yeah? Sana use to like Santa Clause, she even wanted to marry him, I suppose you don't like him at the moment do you? And Aaliyah, you like Willy Wonka because he made delectable chocolate, you thought if you married him you can get a lifetime of free chocolate." Sana and Aaliyah were both speechless, I snarled. Suddenly we heard a gasp.
"My wife wanted to marry Santa Clause?" Aaquil asked in shock, making Sana turn bright red.
"And my fiancée wanted to marry Willy Wonka because of chocolate? You've got to be joking." Ibrahim face palmed himself, while Aaliyah lowered her gaze and bit her lips.
"I- I- Didn't mean to say that out loud." I stuttered.
"And you had a crush on me." Hussain smirked behind Aaquil and Ibrahim.
"Use to. Use to have a crush on you. When I was young, when I had no clue whatsoever what the word 'crush' even meant. But now that I know what he means I am ashamed of myself for having a crush on you. I could've done better." I spat.
"Afira, keep telling yourself that. You can never find anyone better than me." I rolled my eyes.
"Sana, let's go home, then we'll have a little conversation about Santa Claus." Aaquil raised his eyebrows, while Sana gulped. I held back my laugh.
"And dear fiancée, when we get married I'll surely think about buying a chocolate factory, alright? But I came here to escort you downstairs, shall we go?" Aaliyah gave a small nod.
"Uh Aaliyah, I'll call you later." Aaliyah shot me death glares before leaving.
"Wait a go Afira. You really killed yourself this time." I mumbled to myself.
"Oh Afira, how was the tomato sauce?" I ignored Hussain and walked out of the room.
"I'll be sure to send some valentines cards next Valentine's day to my dear friend Afira who claims to 'use to have a crush on me'." Hussain called out, I stormed downstairs in anger. This is one of those days where I feel like digging a hole and staying in there. Poor Sana and Aaliyah, but I still can't help but laugh at them.
