"In Any Given Moments We Have Two options: To Step Forward Into Growth Or To Step Back Into Safety."
Afira's P.O.V
We were running faster than Usain Bolt. At this moment I could no longer hear my heart beating, which made me question if it was even there? To make things even more frustrating, the pops ups would bounce onto our face at annoying moments.
"Hussain, do you think the others a-are alright?" I asked, struggling to speak and run at the same time.
"Yes. I'm sure the others are fine. But what's really important is that we quickly find a room to hide in."
We came across a room with a bed and a dressing table. Nothing else. Great.
"Afira hide under the bed." He didn't need to tell me twice, I practically ran under the bed. Hussain searched for a place to hide but then decided to hide behind the bed.
Suddenly we heard footsteps. "Come out come out wherever you are. Oh, come on. We already killed all the staffs. Even the stupid clown. And that boy, he thought he was smart. So you're no longer safe. And remember, you can hide but you can't run." It was Joe. Fûcking twat. He thinks killing people is just a stupid game. Hussain and I thought the coast was clear, we got up then we both immediately saw Joe was near the dressing table checking behind it to see if we were hiding there. We quickly went back to hiding, slowly the footsteps got closer to the bed. I slapped my mouth and held onto it tight as my eyes began to water automatically. Unintentionally, Joe was treading on my finger. I wanted to bounce up and beat him black and blue. But I had to remain quiet or else we'll be caught. A minute later Joe left. Thank Allah. I immediately leapt up and blew on my purple fingers.
"Flipping bastard. Asshole. Loser. He stepped on my fingers." Hussain looked at me with a shocked expression but didn't dare to say anything. "He's wearing boots too." Hussain walked towards me, took my hands and started blowing on it too. I was a bit confused, and I think he was too. It was a little unexpected.
"I'm good now. Let's go find the others and get out of here." I snatched my hand out of his grip and lowered my gaze. Hussain agreed and led the way.
We roamed around the place to find the others. Just then we heard a gunshot and a girl screaming. My eyes expanded and I stood there still as a statue. I was petrified to move a muscle. People were dying. Blood was just naturally poring out. We're going to die. That's all that was coming to my mind. all around. We're going to die. Hussain grabbed my hand and we ran into the nearest room. The room had more furniture than the last room we were in. I took a look around trying to find a place to hide and I was in for a shock. A young boy in his teens was lying on the chair with his neck slit. I covered my eyes and prayed for Allah to help us and for the innocent boy. Hussain hadn't seen the boy yet because he was facing the other direction.
"Hus- Hussain... Dea- Dead... Bo- Boy." I said grabbing Hussain's attention and pointing towards the lifeless boy.
"Fúck," Hussain whispered.
"Afira don't look. Face me."
"It's okay. I'm okay." I breathed in and out, calming myself.
"Everything is going to be fine. We're going to make it out of here. With the others." I don't believe him. But I smiled and nodded. Suddenly we heard footsteps. It was Eddie. And he saw us. And this is why I didn't believe Hussain.
"Well. Well. Ready to die?" He asked us, rhetorically. Hussain pulled me behind him.
"Acting protective, eh? Don't worry. Both of you are going to die anyway. But who's going first?" Eddie asked us.
"Let's get the strong one of the way, it'll make things easier." Eddie pointed his gun towards Hussain. He had a gun too? I heard him pull the trigger as he narrowed his green eyes directly at Hussain.
"Afira run. Go Afira." Hussain ordered me.
"Shut up. I'm sticking by you."I sneakily scrambled and searched through my bag to find something useful. Dove body spray. Spray it in his eyes, I instructed myself.
"Say goodbye to your wife." Eddie snarled. Wife? Never mind. Eddie was about to shoot Hussain when I sprayed the body spray in his eyes.
"You bitçh!" Eddie cried while rubbing his eyes. Bitçh? The word does describe me perfectly: Beautiful Individual That Causes Hell, but I didn't want to hear it from his filthy mouth. Out of anger, I kicked Eddie in the knee.
We both ran, nonetheless we could still hear Eddie crying in pain. It was his own fault. And he definitely deserved it.
"First, where did you get the body spray from and second, I love you so much wife, thank you for saving me back there!" Hussain said winking. I gave him an uncanny face.
"Yuck. A girl has to prepare, you know... Hubby?" I said winking. Someone accidentally bumped into me.
"Sana!" I said hugging her. I saw Sana's hand bleeding and her eyes were red, I looked at Aaquil who was hugging Hussain, he had a bump on his forehead.
"What happened to you guys?" I asked.
"Amy came from nowhere and attacked me, Sana came and saved my life, and due to this she cut her hand," Aaquil explained.
"It looks like the ladies are doing the saving today," I said with a grin.
"What, you saved Hussain?" Sana asked me and I nodded, proudly.
We told them how I saved Hussain's butt, and they were amazed at me being so prepared. I am Afira after all. We entered a room... And found Ibrahim, Zain, Aaliyah and Tallaha hiding inside a closet. How on Earth did they all manage to fit in there?
"Guys!" I ran up to Aaliyah and Tallaha and hugged them.
"Sana di... I'm terrified. L-Let's go out of here. Please?" Tallaha begged.
"We're going to get out of here. We just need to find a place to hide for the time being and then find that one way to escape." Sana said hugging Tallaha.
"Meanwhile, let's get into this closet, we all can fit in here by the looks of it." Ibrahim gestured towards the closet they were hiding in before. We all go into the closet, it wasn't big but it was big enough to fit all of us in.
Five minutes passed by. No one spoke.
Then ten. No one still spoke.
Fifteen. Still quiet.
Twenty-five minutes. No one was moving. It seemed like we all were dead.
Someone's stomach rumbled, interrupting the silence. "I'm really hungry. I can't hold it any longer." Aaliyah said. Food. Snacks. I have food. I packed it early. I searched my bag for food.
"Who's hungry?" I asked, everyone quietly replied by saying 'me.' I got out all the snacks I packed. Everyone was staring at me.
"What? I packed it early, I mean, you don't know when you might be hungry, right?" I asked, everyone continued to stare at me, which was really freaking me out.
"You know what Afira? I love you even more!" Hussain said with a grin.
"Yuck! Keep the love to yourself, buddy." I said, throwing him a bottle of water.
"Thank you for being so prepared Afira. This is teaching me a lesson. Always be prepared." Sana said.
"You're a genius!" Zain said giving me a side hug.
"Anyways what do you have?" Aaliyah asked me.
"I have... lots of chocolate, two packets of crisps, water for all of us, a packet of biscuits and three apples. " I said taking a deep breath. They all stared at me. Again.
"And that all fitted in your bag?" Aaquil asked me, I nodded with a lopsided smile.
"What would you guys like...? Obviously, everyone gets a bar of chocolate and a water bottle. But who would like an apple? Sorry. I only got 3 apples. If I knew we will be in this kind of position then I would've bought my whole fridge with me." I rambled apolitically.
"At least you got something. All I have is gum." Sana said.
"I want an apple, please," Zain asked politely. I passed him an apple.
"I'd like one too," Ibrahim said, I too passed him an apple.
"Who wants the last apple?" I asked.
"Sain, do you want it?" Aaquil asked Hussain.
"Nah. You can have it," Hussain replied. I handed the last apple towards Aaquil. I then passed everyone water bottles and a milk chocolate bar. We all shared the Oreo biscuits and shared the bags of sensation crisps.
"Alhamdulillah, thank you Afira," Aaquil said. I gave me him a thumb up. Everyone said thanked me.
"Say, Afira what else do you have in your bag?" Hussain asked me out of curiosity.
"None of your business." I snapped at him. We all carefully got out of the closet and walked together in a group in a mission to find a way out of this hell.
We were all huddled together, like penguins in the cold. Unexpectedly, there was a howl for help. The voice sounded feminine. I stood closer to Hussain, feeling safe.
"Please. Please, don't do this!" She yelled, whilst someone let out an evil, merciless and inhuman laugh.
"Guys, she's screaming for help," I said restlessly. She needs helps, now. I didn't wait for their answers, I ran. I listened carefully to where the screams were coming from.
The screams were growing louder, making me more restless, but it also indicated that I was getting closer to the women. I was about to step into the room until someone harshly yanked my wrist and covered my mouth.
