Crazy Grandma
Grace looked around the room and thought it looked desolate. There was one bed next to a covered window and a dresser. The dresser was pushed against the wall next to a small closet. The room was dark and had a sickening feeling rolling off it. Grace signed "Just for one night Grace, you can do it". She went to the bed and sat on it. It felt like a stone covered with sheets but she repeated the sentence again and dealt with it.
After a bit of thinking, Grace decided to go to Arnold's room and have a talk about Grandma. She knocked before poking her head in, stating her presence in the room. "Arnold, doesn't Grandma seem off to you?" there was hit of curiosity in her voice.
He looked up at her with a puzzled face. "What do you mean?" he asked confused as ever.
She thought for a moment before replying "Well... mom said Grandma had an anti-social life".
"So" Arnold said shrugging his shoulders and getting even more confused than before.
"So that means she doesn't really talk to people and didn't you notice when she sniffed us?" Grace thought back to when she was wondering if she was going crazy or not.
"I just though she wanted to know if we stunk and needed a bath" Arnold shrugged again but knew his sister was right yet he tried not to admit it.
"Well yeah, but it...." he cut her off.
"Can we talk about this latter because I feel like I'm about to die of hunger". He put on a scene of him dying.
She signed. "Okay, let's go get washed up then" disappointed laced in her voice. Arnold cheered and ran out the door. Grace laughed a little before getting up and following him.
While walking down the hallway to the bathroom Grace notice a room at the end of the hall. She saw something in it and her curiosity got the best of her. When she got close enough she saw something that looked like the bones of a man. She was utterly confused but she shook her head and continued her way to the bathroom.
Arnold came running out and made his way downstairs to get first dibs on the food. She shook her head and went in. When she came out she looked down at the hallway again to see the door closed shut this time. She thought she was going crazy and just wanted to get out that house.
"GRACE!" she snapping back to reality and rushed down the stairs to where Arnold was standing.
"What" she said annoyed.
He pointed his finger at something and said "Look and you'll figure out what". He also had annoyance laced in his voice.
Her eyes followed his finger to what he was pointing at. It was an empty table with nothing on it. "So what" she said, even more annoyed than before.
He looked at her, shaking his head in disappointment and horror. "Grandma said dinner would be done in 30 minutes but that was like 40 minutes ago".
She rolled her eyes before giving out a sign. "Okay, I'll go see what the holdup is, while you get seated".
"Thank you" Arnold said sounding as board as ever. He just wanted food on his plate and in his mouth already.
She made her way into the kitchen to find Grandma just sitting in a rocking chair sharpening a butcher knife. "Gr- Gr-Grandma?" she stuttered in a scared shaky voice. Grandma looked up at her with a devil look in her eye but stayed quiet.
Grace took that as a sign to continue "What are you doing with that butcher knife and why is their nothing on the stove or in the oven?" The grandmother only looked back down at the knife and continued sharpening. "Ok" I'll go tell Arnold it might take a few more minutes". Grace said while backing up slowly before turning around and bolting out the door.
She made her way back to the dining room and sat down with a blank look on her face. Arnold looked up to seeing this and getting curious on what caused it. "Are you ok?" he said with worry in his voice.
"Grandma's crazy" Grace said in the lowest of whispers that Arnold missed it.
