Basically there was this man who, in 2010, was told he had less than five years to live because of his obesity. He didn't want to die, so he went to his doctor, who told him that one thing he should Do IS to he out more, socialise. So he went to the shelter, and he said, "I want an obese middle-aged dog." And they brought out Petey. The first time they made eye contact, they both kinda said, "Really?" So he took Petey home. Time skip to a year later. The man has lost over 140 pounds and Petey lost 25. The man used to have type two diabetes and was taking over $1000 worth of medication each month. Now he was completely off medication and his diabetes was gone. The man even finished a full marathon! But then... Petey was diagnosed with cancer in his spleen. Nothing could be done, and Petey died in the man's arms. The man was heart-broken, to say the least. A few months later, the man was seized by a crazy emotion and went back to the shelter. And out came Jake, a beautiful black Labrador with golden eyes. Jake had been checked into the shelter four minutes previously; no picture was up, he wasn't on the website... Man and dog made eye contact, and Jake smiled a doggy grin, as if to say, "Dude, let's get out of here." And get out of there they did.
