Author's Note

Welcome to my short story compilation for the Tales of Sea Treasures contest!
These were originally written with exact word count requirements (shown in the synopses below).

Now that the contest is finished I've decided to go back and add a bit here and there.

[Round One - Sailor Rank]
I'm so excited to have gotten past the first round with my short story "Sands is Time."
Prompt 1:
In exactly 200 words describe what you find in a treasure chest on a deserted island.
Description:
As a child Dawn's Father, hoping to use her growing powers for his own, stole not only Dawn's source of power, but her ability to love.  She walked the earth, ruthless and spellbound, until she was set free by one who had the power to love her back.  Can Dawn find her Father's most precious and powerful treasure, and survive what guards it?

[Round Two - Master Gunner Rank]
"The Beagle" is my submission for the second round of the contest.
Prompt 2:
In exactly 500 words describe your ship, what it looks like, its name and its crew.
Description:
This is a tale of three boys who set off on their ship for a summer of adventure, and met with tragedy.

[Round Three - Boatswain Rank]
"Golden Treasure" is my submission for the third round of the contest.
Prompt 3:
In exactly 1000 words tell us of your goal, the treasures you seek.  Why do you seek them? Is is a magic artifact, a cursed object, or something else?
Description:
He watched in horror as his treasure was consumed by his own creation.  He's been driving himself to the brink of madness to get her back, but will he ever be able to re-create that fateful night?

[Round Four - Quartermaster Rank]
"Sea Witch" is my submission for the fourth round of  the contest:
Prompt 4:
In exactly 3000 words tell us of magnificent battles with pirate lords or sea monsters and your adventures. Tell us the name you're known by in the Seven Seas and why.
Description:
Each story is one side of a double-sided coin.  Is evil ever truly objective, or just a bad case of revisionist history?  Sometimes the road to hell is paved with good intentions, and sometimes you're carried there in a carriage pulled by sea-horses and driven by the slimmest sleezeball to ever be called King.

Diamond Water
My (better) entry for the Planet or Plastic contest. Since it has to do with the sea and is a for a contest I thought I would add it here. (500 words)
Description:
You are what you drink.  Diamond Water has something sinister lurking inside, and it may cost Diana her life.
