A spider met an octopus

Beside the shining sea.

The octopus said, "Hey there, friend,

You look a lot like me!

"A nice, round head, eight little arms—

We're clearly quite the pair.

But you can walk on land,

While I'm stuck under there."

The spider grinned and answered back,

"Come join me on the sand!

The waves will wait—just take a step,

To see if you can stand."

Together, then, they strolled along,

Beneath the starry band—

The octopus and the spider

Walking hand in hand.
