MISPLACED HEAD - PART TWO
I was at the beach all alone.
The sun was hot and high,
So I buried myself in the sand
As the hot afternoon passed by.
But much to my dismay,
When I tried myself to unbury,
I couldn't get out—I was stuck,
Though I tried 'til I was weary.
I struggled and fought but couldn't escape,
And only sank in more deep.
Then sand filled up my mouth
So I could no longer speak.
As the day grew long,
I was filled with dread.
No one would find me—
I was just half of a head.
Finally, along came a man,
I knew he'd rescue me,
But as he slowly passed by
All hope began to flee.
"Good day," he said
But I couldn't speak a word.
All I could do was frown,
Looking pitiful and absurd.
As he slowly walked away,
I watched the rising tide.
There wasn't much else to do,
So I closed my eyes and cried.
