MESSY

What do you mean my room is messy?

Everything is exactly in its place.

The cleaning rags you gave me

Are still stored neatly in their case.

My dirty socks go in that corner

So I know not to put them on.

The clean socks go in the other—

So I know they're safe to don.

The rotten apple I didn't finish

Lies under my desk on the floor.

That's where I keep the bad food

To remind me not to eat it anymore.

Wet towels are draped on my chair

To track how often I shower.

When I'm done with snacks, I stack my plates

On top of my trusty dish tower.

My toys are scattered perfectly

Where I like to sit and play.

I don't need a spot for dirty underwear—

I don't change them every day.

The clean shirts? They're in that pile.

The stained ones? Behind the door.

I like to keep garbage out of sight

So I shove it inside of that drawer.

I keep my books and homework

Tucked underneath my bed—

So if I have trouble sleeping

I can read and write instead.

So as you can clearly see,

My room is not a mess!

It's a shining example, a perfectly organized,

System of success.
