ICE CREAM TOWER

"What'll it be?" asked the ice cream man

As I strolled into his shop.

"Just keep scooping," I answered.

"I'll tell you when to stop."

A scoop of vanilla,

A scoop of toffee,

A scoop of cherry,

A scoop of coffee.

He continued to scoop.

He kept on piling.

I continued to nod.

I kept on smiling.

A scoop of banana,

A scoop of blackberry,

A scoop of licorice,

A scoop of red cherry.

The cone was so tall now,

It touched the ceiling.

I nodded him on—

This was getting appealing.

"This is just the beginning," I said,

As we moved outside the shop.

He looked rather nervous,

But I said, "Don't stop!"

A scoop of lemon,

And birthday cake,

A scoop of chocolate,

Andcoconut flake.

Using ladder on ladder,

He stacked it high.

The cone looked absurd,

Scraping the sky.

Finally, hunger struck—

I couldn't wait anymore.

I quickly yanked it away,

And it splattered on the floor.

I turned to the man.

He had a look that could freeze.

But I said with a smile,

"Another cone, please!"
