BUBBLE GUM MOON
I wanted to set the world record
For blowing the largest bubble.
I bought a hundred packs of gum,
Then went back to make it double.
I chewed and chewed the whole day long.
I chewed through the endless night.
Fifty hours straight, I worked
To get the texture just right.
Then I began to blow—
I blew and blew and blew.
My cheeks were sore, but still I puffed
As the bubble grew and grew.
It grew so tall,
It grew so wide,
It climbed straight up
The mountainside.
People flocked from miles around.
They came in droves and crowds.
A cheer was heard throughout the land
As my bubble reached the clouds.
Still, I blew with all my might,
Until I was blue in the face.
The bubble grew and grew and grew,
Until it reached outer space.
At last,
I let it go.
We watched it rise
From far below.
It left the Earth behind
And NASA soon reported
That a giant bubble moon
Had settled into orbit.
So if tonight you step outside,
And lift a sleepy eye,
You'll see my bubblegum moon
Gliding across the sky.
