part 2
The next morning Caesar was let into the house by my mother so he could sneak into my room to wake me up. He pulled onto my blanket, “Hey man wake up.” He whispered. When I didn’t respond he spoke a little louder but I only groaned. I heard his footsteps disappear into the hallway and moments later come back. Then my eyes shot open and jumped up as soon as I felt a cold liquid pour onto my face.
“Dude what the-” I chucked my now soaking wet pillow at him, “Now my beds all wet and I have change my sheets and-”
“Then just sleep over at my house. My parents are out of town.” He sat and spun around in my desk chair. “We can watch movies or something. Plus I got something to tell ya but not right now. Go get ready for school.” I grimaced and growled as I shuffled over to my closet. Taking off the white undershirt I usually wore to bed I grabbed the first shirt I laid my eyes on and changed into it. As I was changing into jeans Caesar swerved around in my chair and left out of the room, “I’m gonna go and tell your mom that you’re sleeping over today.”
I grabbed my backpack and threw my sweater over my shoulder. Caesar waited for me by the door, “bye mom!” my mom hurried over as well as she could in her heels.
“Here a waffle so you have something for breakfast.”
I thanked my mother and put the waffle in my mouth and handed my bag to Caesar so I could put on my sweater. After I grabbed my backpack and headed out the door. I took the waffle out of my mouth, “You know what my mom told me yesterday?”
“Hmm?”
“That she can’t wait till I bring a girl home. Isn’t that ridiculous?”
“Well she’s your mother. She wants to see you happy and have grandchildren in the future.”
I snickered, “Remember though? I don’t have a soul.”
He laughed, “oh yeah right.”
Suddenly there was an uncomfortable atmosphere so I bit into my waffle. When we got closer to my school none other than Angel Maura, my lovely school tormentor, was waiting for me at the gate. He began sauntering over to Caesar and I.
“Hey fag! Where’d you go yesterday? I was looking for you! Gotta thank ya for not hurting my eye too much. Much appreciated.” He said with a fake grin on his face and with poison dripping off his tongue. As soon as he noticed Caesar he slowly backed away and into the gates.
“Why does he keep calling you that?” You could tell Caesar was annoyed, “you going to be okay?”
I shrugged and looked over at Caesar, “Yeah I’ll be fine. If he bothers me again I’ll actually jab his eyes harder next time. I mean he’s probably just a closeted gay anyway.”
Caesar snickered and ruffled my hair and walked in the direction of his school. The rest of the day I ignored Angel and turned in my essay early. My teacher wasn’t too surprised since I always turned in my work early before the actual due date. When I went to go sit down Angel slapped my arm as he sat down in the desk next to mine, “Aye, so was that your sugar daddy or older brother?” I plugged in my ear buds and played music continuing to ignore him. It was none of his business to know who Caesar was to me if he really didn’t care. The brunette pulled one of earbuds out, “Hey I asked you a question.” I stared at him blankly and grabbed back my earbud. The teacher noticed how much Angel was bothering me and told him to go and sit in the back if he wasn’t going to do his work. That’s how the rest of the day went on until the end of the day.
That day Caesar picked me up from school and we walked together back to his house and we picked up something to eat on the way. “So what was it you needed to tell me?” I asked as I bit into a chicken tender.
Caesar took off his shirt, a habit of his whenever he got home, and sat down to eat, “About my job.”
“Your ‘something like that’ job?”
“Yeah.”
“Okay so what is it?”
“I’m an information broker.”
What was that? I had never heard of the term before and squinted my brows together, “A what?”
“An information broker. It’s a dangerous job and I want you to know that if anything ever happens to me I want you to know-” I cut him off.
“What kind of danger?”
“The kind that comes with gathering information for gangsters, businessmen, and other powerful people.” He sighed.
Suddenly a big shiver went down my back, “So like death?”
“Yes, death. What’s with all the questions?”
That made me excited. Could becoming an information broker be what I was looking for to make my life more exciting? Could this be the thing that brings me out of my pool of dullness and gray? I just couldn’t resist saying, “Teach me. How to become an information broker.”
Caesar laughed hysterically upon hearing my request, “Oh! I knew you psychotic! But really...you don’t want a job like this.” his laughter ceased when he saw how the expression on my face hadn’t changed and knew I was serious. A look of sorrow filled his eyes and stood up from his spot on the bed cupping my chin. My breath hitched and I wanted to try backing up but an idea rang in my head so I stood my ground. His eyes met mine, “Look. It’s too dangerous and I don’t want you to get hurt or worse” his index finger began stroking down my face, “If something happened to you I don’t know what I would do with myself.”
“I can take care of myself. You know that.” I stated bluntly and then moved his hand away. He was acting extremely off and too affectionate.
Caesar growled and punched the wall next to my face sending shivers down my back. He ran a hand through his raven locks, “I know it’s just- Diego I...see you as more than just a friend.” He paused for a mild second and continued, “I love you.” I wasn’t too surprised since he did flirt with me often whenever he got the chance. The idea in my head ringing louder than ever before.
Grabbing him closer by his belt loops and leaning in and looking his dead in the eye I smirked, “Then how about I let you do whatever you want to me and you can teach me how to get started as an information broker.” Caesar looked at me stunned, “Isn’t your job as my upperclassman to help me out?” I let one of my hands wander from his belt loop to run up his abdomen and trace around his hip bone. For someone who slept in all day he was well toned.
Caesar seemed like he was hesitating on his decision. I could understand why. We had known each other for so long and I trusted him with my body and being especially if it was going to get me what I wanted. I wanted excitement and adrenaline. I wanted all of that rushing through my veins. Being an information broker and facing all of the danger Caesar did was going to get me that. In a quiet voice he asked, “Are you sure?” I nodded in response, “I can’t believe you.” Then he kissed me and I took that as him accepting my offer. Though I could tell he was only pitying me for being so desperate but I could do the same for him. However I didn’t because he was my best friend and we were both equal.
I woke up the next morning sore and riddled with bite marks. I stretched and looked over at Caesar who was asleep soundly. I rubbed his back and slid myself off the bed and pulled on my jeans. When I put on my shirt I looked in the mirror and saw how a bite mark was peeking out from my collar. I hoped I could just tell my parents that it was just Caesar fooling around and nothing more if they ever happened to notice it. When I walked over to get my sweater from across the room a soreness in my hips struck me like lightning does a metal rod and then I fell.
Instantly Caesar jolted awake and his eyes landed on me making him smirk, “You know you’re going to deal with that every once in while. Are you sure you wanna continue on with your deal? I mean...” he rubbed the back of his head in thought, “We can always just pretend none of this happened and move on.” I knew he was trying to get me to back out but I was never one who liked to back down easily.
“Yes. I’m completely sure.”I sat up and hissed at every shift I made my body do. The thought of giving up and doing what I did for nothing made me angry.
Caesar got up pulling the blanket over him and pulled on a pair of shorts. “Let’s go make breakfast.” He yawned as passed by me and ruffled my hair, “Then maybe I’ll explain later how I get my information for my clients.” My heart pounded and I smiled. He rolled his eyes but I knew secretly he was really enjoying my childlike excitement.
After breakfast he showed me how to search someone up on the internet and what keywords I should use. The goal when using the internet as a source is to find as much personal information you can. Such as address, phone number and any social media they may be linked to the person. Like this you can find out their favorite hangouts where you can watch and observe them in public and see which people hang out with them. Friends and acquaintances are important because you can more information from them but you have to extremely careful and make sure you at least give them something in return for the information so they can keep their mouth shut. I was learning so much about collecting information. It was almost like people themselves were essays and their information were my notes.
He said he would save lesson two for tomorrow and although I wanted him to continue on I understood that I was just a student and that the rest would continue soon. Gently I grabbed his chin and kissed his jaw, “Thank you my king.”
“Whatever you little psychopath.” He groaned playfully and rolled his eyes. His behavior was almost as if to say ‘the things I do for love’. This would be my life now. Trading myself to my only friend for the sake of finding a source of excitement.
I began to think about what else I could do with my new information. I could get back at the people who mistreated me for all those years. The people who showed me that I was different and made me an outcast. Make them suffer and squirm until they know who they messed with. My first target- Angel Maura. The neanderthal that annoyed me since year 1 of middle school.
