Chapter 16 ━━ Nonstop Tears

If she's not mistaken, Lorna cried for the last hour not because Stefan left her here alone with this monster, just because she lost the person who loves-loved her truly.

Kai is sitting cross-legged across from her, watching her with an unreadable expression, like a blind man looking at the world from his eyes for the first time.

Suddenly, he leans forward making her push herself backwards. But since her back is already hitting the wall, she can't go anywhere. She's stuck between Kai and the wall.

He wipes the non stop tears falling down her face as he cares about her. 

Don't fall for his traps, Lorna. He's trying to make you fall for him once again. Remember the things he did to you?

"You're unique and I like that." He says, softly as he caresses her cheek. Then he moves his hand to her shoulder and rubs her arm gently. 

"Please don't hurt me." She begins to sob.

He sighs. "I won't." 

"With intention." He adds.

And with that, all her injuries start to heal. She looks at him in surprise, making him give her a smile.

He looks at the ropes laying on the floor a few feet away from them and spells on it making it magically drag towards them.

He takes the ropes and begins to tie her up. "Just to make sure that you won't run away." 

Lorna flinches as the vervain burns her skin.

As he finishes, he kisses her forehead.

Why did Kai suddenly flip into his caring mode? He must be just faking it. Just ignore him for god's sake, Lorna.

Kai walks around the corner as he takes a drink of soda. 

She starts to hear whispers. She tries to ignore it, but when she sees Kai looking at the door, it makes sense. Someone's here.

"I'll be back." Kai says and walks out of the room leaving her alone. She looks at her skin which is still sizzling from the vervain, but then the ropes disappear.

She confusedly looks around to see nothing, but then Damon places his hand on her, making her see him and Jo.

"Hey." Damon says.

"How are you here right now?" She asks him.

"Jo's invisibility spell. If you can see us, that means you joined the party." Damon replies.

Jo looks like she's about to faint. "Come on, we need to get out of here."

"My ring, it's gone. Kai melted it into nothing along with the engagement ring." Lorna sighs. 

Damon grabs her hand and looks for her rings. "What?"

"I hate to cut this reunion short, but meter's running on this spell." Jo says.

"Why can't you use your magic woos?" Damon suggests it to her.

"I can't use my powers when Kai's around. He can control them." She responds. 

"What?" Jo asks as she stops at her track.

"Yeah. It's confusing." The blonde says meekly.

"Too much of confusion." Damon butts in. 

"You're her." Jo says suddenly and Damon raises an eyebrow.

"She who?"

"You're that girl. The girl who only can stop him." Jo says.

"Stop Kai? Me?" The blonde asks confusedly. 

"Let's talk about this later. Let's get out of this hell first." Damon says.

"Well, there's the tunnels under the school." Lorna suggests.

"Good call. Boiler room. Stat. Come on." Damon says as they stand and head for the door.

Damon turns to Jo, whose back is now to him. "You good?"

"I'm good." Jo says.

Damon, Lorna and Jo are walking quickly down the hall toward the boiler room, where the latter is coughing, weak.

Lorna stops and looks back at Jo, whose nose is still bleeding. "You okay?"

"Yeah. Three people is just a lot more to cloak than two." Jo reaches Damon and collapses into his arms.

"Woah. Why is your nose bleeding?" Damon asks.

"I have a guess. Magic's hard." 

They look at Kai who is standing at the end of the hall, smirking. 

"Isn't it, Jo?"

Jo wipes the blood from her nose, crying. "I'm so sorry."

"Don't sweat it. I want him to see me, while I kick his ass. Now, get out of here, okay?" Damon says to Jo, making her stagger through a door into the next hallway.

Damon rolls his shoulders and grins at Kai, clearly eager to fight him. He then looks around like he's searching for something. "Where's Lor?" 

"I'm right here." Lorna raises an eyebrow.

"Oh, are we not cloaking people anymore? I thought that's what this was." Kai sarcastically says.

Damon speeds over to Kai, but Kai disappears and reappears behind Damon, down the hall. 

Kai appears behind the blonde and whistles, Damon turns and Kai waves at him, grinning.

Damon speeds over, breaks the handle of a mop and throws it at the blonde spearing her through the abdomen making her gasp and look at the stake gone through her abdomen. What the hell, Damon?! 

"That's gotta hurt. I am definitely getting the hang of this. Cloaking spells, illusions. You know, it's all the same wheelhouse." Kai says, making her realise he just did an illusion spell to fool Damon.

Kai Parker lied to her again. He said that he's not going to hurt her anymore. But he eventually did. 

She staggers and leans against a locker and slides down to the floor weakly. Jo appears from the door and helps her. 

Kai uses his magic to hurt Damon's head and turns to Jo who's helping the blonde to get the stake out of her abdomen as she yells in pain.

"Now that I've got the kinks worked out, we can actually do this. Is there an upcoming celestial event that interests you? I'm partial to-" Suddenly an arrow shoots through Kai's shoulder. "Ugh!"

Lorna sees Jeremy standing at the end of the door with his crossbow and Kai falls to his knees. Alaric runs over and injects Kai with something, knocking him out. 

Damon moves to the blonde with a guilty look and pulls out the stake out of her abdomen making her gasp in pain. But then she starts to heal, making everything go back to normal.

"Sorry, Lor-" He starts to apologise, making her smile and stop him.

"I know. I know, Damon." 

He smiles back.

The group is currently at Alaric's house and Kai is tied up and gagged, unconscious on the couch. He's looking so calm like he doesn't know the meaning of evil. 

Lorna explains to Damon, Elena, Jo and Alaric how she broke Stefan's heart and Elena assures her that Stefan will forgive her when his anger comes down. But the thing is, she doesn't feel remorse about Stefan breaking up with her. It's true that she loved Stefan with all her heart. But after she got trapped in the Prison World, everything changed. It's true that she still loves Stefan but as a friend.

Damon, Elena and Lorna are sitting at a table as the latter tries to get the blood out of her shirt. 

"Sure you're okay having a Pentobarbital-ed houseguest?" Jo asks Alaric.

Alaric smiles. "I am. If it buys us enough time to get you back into fighting shape."

"I can help you clean that if you want. One part Amonia, two parts meat tenderizer." Jo says to the blonde.

"You invented a stain remover?" She asks her.

"I'm not afraid of a little blood." Jo says, making the blonde shrug, smile and follow her out of the room.

Then they arrive in the bathroom and Jo starts to clean the bloodstains.

"I can't believe that you're his twin sister. You two are totally opposite to each other." Lorna says. "He's totally cruel and evil while you're totally sweet and nice."

Jo smiles. "No one believes that we're twins." 

"He must have looked cute in his childhood." The blonde says. Correction. It just came out of her mouth without her control. Just great.

"He was." Jo nods, smiling knowingly. Not good. Damn, Lorna. Shut your mouth at least once. "You love him. Don't you?" 

"Ah? Stefan and I broke up." Lorna answers. 

Jo smiles and shakes her head. "I'm talking about Kai."

Lorna freezes. Does she love him? Yes, she does. So she decides to lie through her tongue. "I used to. I hate him now. I just want vengeance on him."

"I don't believe that." Jo says.

"Why?" Lorna asks her.

"The legends of our Gemini coven says that creatures like Kai, siphons can only be stopped by one person. That's his or her fated love."

"Fated love? What the hell is that?" Lorna asks her.

"That's someone like werewolf mates." Jo says. "You two are bonded to each other by fate."

"Like Jacob imprinted on Bella's daughter in Twilight?" The blonde asks.

"Yeah. Something similar to that." Jo chuckles before her expression turns all serious. "Kai's deeply in love with you even though he doesn't show that. He's trying to throw the feelings away as you do. But you two will never be able to do that even though you two try your hardest."

"He loves me?" Lorna asks her hopefully and she nods with a smile. "Are you going to kill him? In the merge?"

Jo let out a deep sigh. "Maybe, yes. He's hungry for power. But you can change him. Only you can change his mind and try to take him to the correct track."

"All done." Jo says making the blonde realise that Jo has completely removed the stain out of her outfit.

"Thank you." Lorna says and Jo smiles in response.
