Part 6

Question: Favorite Ichor trilogy character? (Not including Sophie or Daniel)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After the evening in the garden, I didn't see Daniel for another few days. Mainly, because I didn't really want to. Saffron and Jamila had taken me to Olympian Industries for the day, so I wouldn't have my normal lessons in the afternoon.
After we got back and I hurriedly dressed in a more suitable evening dress, I lied on my bed and thought for a while. I'd been doing this over the course of several days, and each time I wished Styx were here to guide me. I fingered my two daggers. I could simply stab Saffron right now and make her go down to the underworld. No, I couldn't do that. Styx had been clear. I was to simply turn all the other gods to Styx's side. Styx had told me that the first oracle in centuries has been living on Olympus for a while now.
I didn't know who the Oracle was. Maybe I could ask Apollo if he knew tomorrow.
Someone knocked at my door. I opened it and there stood Jamila. Before I could say hello, she shoved a sealed envelope at me.
"What-" I started to say, but she grinned in excitement.
"Just read it, Soph!" she said, then left.
I sat down and opened the envelope.
It was an invitation of some sort. There was a workers' day off in three days, and a party at Dionysus'. Of course. From the small glimpse I'd gotten before, all the parties were at the party god's house.
On the back, in neat print, was written; Please come, Sophie. -Daniel
Every molecule of mine screamed to go, but I held back. I wasn't sure if I could handle seeing him again. Also, socializing with the mortals that were on the Olympians' side probably was not good for me carrying out my mission. I sighed. I wouldn't go.
Even as I reached my verdict, a single tear slid down my face and onto the paper.
You have no good reason to go! my brain shouted. Stop thinking about it!
There was another knock at my door.
Saffron cake into my room. She sat down at the foot of my bed.
"Are you going?" she asked.
"No," I responded.
She shrugged, not asking any questions, which I appreciated.
"Okay. Dionysus just asked me to see who was and wasn't going."
"Alright," I muttered.
Saffron left, and I fell asleep soon after, not even going down for dinner.
