A Time Traveler's Textbook Mistake
Prolouge
Professor Cynthia Brooks screwed in the final part for her Hourglass Temporarily-Teleported Time Traveling Machine. Suddenly the machine started to glow. That meant it was ready. Professor Brooks had calculated and recalculated everything twelve times. She was confident that the machine would work. In less than 24 hours, she would be the first person to travel through time.
The machine itself was a temporarily-teleported one. That meant, after 24 hours of arriving at its set destination, it would teleport itself back to the present. That meant that if anyone who belonged to a different time period stole the machine, they would be sent back to the present, so that the machine would be stuck there. Then the Professor's assistant could use the backup teleporter to rescue the Professor from where she was trapped.
And it was because the Professor forgot this that she was almost trapped in a very dangerous future...forever. With nobody to rescue her...
Indeed, forgetting how your invention was made is a textbook mistake among inventors, but this time, this little mistake nearly left the Professor trapped, with no way of rescue...
