Hyungwon

The next day of school, the boys and I came early so we gathered in a circle around the area of my new seat.

As soon as I sat on my new chair, I saw that Daeum's seat was still empty. I kept a straight face but internally I was impatiently wanting her to appear now.

"I don't like my new seat, Sara is so--"

"Yah Jooheon stop complaining, Sara is my close friend just bear with her." Wonho cut Jooheon off.

"I want to be together with you hyungs~" I.M whined.

"How's your new seat for you Minhyuk-ah, Hyungwon?" Shownu hyung asked us.

"We're fine"
"I'm fine with it."

We both answered and looked at each other realizing we were sharing the same thoughts.

"Oh... all of us here don't like it but you two are okay?" Wonho said.

"Who's sitting between you two?" Kihyun asked.

"Lee Daeum." I.M answered for us.

"Oho! That girl and you're fine with that?!" Wonho teased us.

"Come on, Daeum is not that bad." Minhyuk defended and I immediately fixed my gaze at him.

"Why? Because you like her?" Kihyun bullied Minhyuk.

"Ah--- I--- Yah!!!" Minhyuk started to stutter.

I suddenly started to feel threatened for I don't know why. I suddenly lost energy because of this. I didn't find it funny.

"You like her, Minhyuk?" I suddenly asked.

Because I asked the question directly, we fixed our attentions to him and cornered him so he could speak up the truth.

"Aish... Yes. Maybe I do feel something for her." He revealed in defeat.

We were all shut silent.

"Oh man." Shownu commented out of nowhere which cracked them all up laughing.

Sigh.

Hyung found someone he likes seriously now. Now that I know, we're like brothers so I must make way for him right?

"Will you guys help me with Daeum?" Minhyuk asked each one of us.

"Hyungwon-ah." He suddenly raised his eyebrow on me.

".... Yeah... Yeah sure." I said it even though I wasn't sure if I meant it.

"Come here bro." He raised his hand and we gave each other a high five.

<Ring>

The first bell started to ring now so we all dispersed into our own seats.

"Sigh..." I sighed out loud.

Suddenly, the sight of Daeum outside our classroom rushing to class caught my attention.

Finally she's here.

I eyed her until she got here to her seat beside me.

"Annyeong Daeum-ah." Minhyuk smiled to her.

"Oh... hi Minhyuk!" She put down her bag and sat down panting.

Today I woke up late and when I woke up, my freaking cheek was hurting.

Hyungwon was right. I should've put ice on my face well ㅠㅠ

A large bruise has formed so I took up so much time in putting a great layer of makeup on my face to cover it all up.

"Shit! I'm running late!!" I panicked so I quickly ate my breakfast and called the driver while my face was still stuffed with food.

"Ppalli jebal!" I begged my driver ahjussi.

"Aishh this kid. It's your fault." He got irritated.

As soon as we got to school I slammed the car door and ran my way into the classroom.

"Yes. Yes. Yes." I was cheering up myself as I was almost there when the bell rang.

I got in the classroom sweaty and panting as I dropped my things immediately.

"Annyeong Daeum-ah." Minhyuk greeted me.

"Oh... hi Minhyuk!" I replied as I sat down.

"Why are you so sweaty." Minhyuk handed me his handkerchief.

"No it's fine." I refused but he suddenly started wiping off my sweat on his own.

"There." He smiled keeping his handkerchief with my sweat back again.

"Hey--"

"Don't worry it's fine." He said.

"Huh? Okay then..." I let him be.

Later on, our first period teacher which was English came in the classroom.

"We will have your first performance task and it is a pair work." She announced.

"Your partner is your seatmate. Column 1 and 2, 3 and 4, and so on."

I look beside me and I thought Minhyuk was my partner but I realized he was column 2. I then turned my head and found Hyungwon who was also looking at me so when I looked at him, our eyes met.

"Your first performance task or project is a mini poem book. With what we have learned about literature, you will take that to make your own small poem book consisting of 4-6 poems of any topic. You can meet up to make it anytime and anywhere it will be alright." Our teacher announced.

"When do you want to make it?"

Hyungwon and I started discussing our pair work.

"Umm.. anytime is fine." I answer.

"I think working on it here in school wouldn't be that productive. Would you mind going to my house someday?" He offered.

"Y-your house? F-for the project only okay?" I grew defensive for no reason.

"Yes of course." He rolled his eyes and smiled.

Woah, his smile is cute.

"I-Is that... makeup?" He frowned seeing the obvious layer of makeup I put on my skin.

I immediately turned my head to the side so he would stop looking at my face. Why does he care so much about my face? Ughhhh

"You have a bruise do you?" He asked.

"Shhhhh... the teacher is discussing." I whispered to him to shift topics.

"That's what happens when you don't listen to me. Look at you, you don't look as pleasing having that makeup on." He snorted.

Okay, I'm seriously so embarassed already. He should stop pointing these things out. I really wanted to slap his face for not minding his own business. Why? What's wrong with me being ugly when I have makeup on. Pshhh!

"Stop frowning like that." He suddenly spoke again but I only rolled my eyes at him and so I heard him laugh.

"Hey let's go." Sara was waiting for me.

Monsta X already went ahead of us because I took so much time in looking for my wallet.

I swear, i couldn't find it anywhere and was getting so impatient too.

"Where is my wallet. Huhu I can't find it! Where did I put it?" I searched all my things.

Oh shoot yeah.

Because I was in so much hurry earlier this morning, I probably forgot to take my money which ahjumma usually has prepared.

"Eotteokhae~"

"Huh? You said something?" Sara asked.

"Ani ani, let's just go." I said with a sad face.

"Finally!" Sara dragged me and skipped.

Sara went and bought food while I was left in the table with Monsta X whom were eating well.

"I'm back! Let's eat." Sara happily said as she sat down beside Wonho as usual.

I looked at all of them with a bitter face. I was the only one not eating and they didn't bother to give me some food :(

"Ya, where's your food?" Sara called me.

I looked at her with widened eyes as I was ashamed. I instead motioned her to come closer so I can whisper.

"Just say why." She was being direct.

"Nooo, just come lean towards me!" I insisted.

"Aishh.. go." She lazily leaned towards me.

"I don't have money. I forgot my own wallet today." I whispered into her ear.

"You forgot you're wallet?! Oh too bad then you can't eat today." She said out loud and others heard.

Gosh her mouth! Why does she have to be loud? What's the point of me whispering.

"You don't have your money? But why?" Minhyuk asked me.

"I was almost late earlier so I forgot to grab my wallet because I was rushing." I explained.

"Ohh... here. Let's share food, you want?" He offered.

"Mwo? I-I dont wanna cut you short on food." I refused.

"But you're gonna starve, I can't let that happen as well." He reasoned.

What's with this guy. He's too nice and sweet to me. I feel bad.

"No, I'm fine." I said even though it was obvious I wasn't.

"Daeum-ah." Hyungwon called me.

"What." I looked at him with a straight expression.

I still haven't forgiven him. He's such an annoying cold pest.

He then took out his own wallet.

"I have extra money here. Come, Ill treat you." He warmly smiled.

"........"

"Just take his offer so you can eat too." I.M told me.

I looked at Hyungwon again and he was giving me a faint smile and he nodded his head to motion me to go with him.

"Okay..." I said.

"Let's go." We both stood up.

He was nice and considerate right now. I guess I could use this as him making up for upsetting me earlier.

Hyungwon already paid for my meal so I made my order as I waited for my food to come.

Hyungwon then went and stood beside me counting his change and keeping them in his wallet.

"What's with the attitude earlier?" He asked while looking at me crossing his arms.

"Mwo."

"Why are you being mean? Did I perhaps upset you?" He read straight into my mind.

"... Yes. You upset me. You're too impulsive. I think it was better when you leave people alone and dont try to care at all." I said.

"Is...that so..?" I heard the hurt in his voice.

Shoot. I must have said something wrong that he'll take seriously deep down.

"Mianhae... Um.. I'm also sorry for calling you ugly with makeup earlier and for being impulsive. I guess I don't know well. I thought you were going to buy my kind of humor... Sorry for offending you."

He smiled and scratched the back of his head but he was blushing pink and his eyes were watery. I must've embarassed him.

"Here's your food."

"Ne.. kamsahamnida." I thanked as I took it.

We both then went back to our table to continue eating but everyone already left. Sara and the rest have finished their food leaving me and Hyungwon to eat.

We both sat down facing each other and I could see Hyungwon lowering his head down as he ate fast.

"Ya, why are you stuffing yourself take it easy." I laughed to lighten up the mood.

I knew he wasn't okay.

"Huh? Oh hahaha.." He looked up to me and I saw his slighty teary eyes.

Hyungwon must've taken in my words well. There's something really more to him that's just being covered by a cold facade.

I think if he does trust me with his true emotions and self, I should be there to understand and comfort him.

Sigh, just apologize you.

"Hyungwon-ah, I'm sorry." I called him.

"Sorry?" He squinted.

"You were just joking but I got mad at you. And you were right! Silly me. That's why I have this bruise right now. I regret not listening to you so much when I woke up."

"Oh... hahahaha.." He cutely laughed.

Finally the mood was lighter. I smiled proudly as I heard his laugh. It felt heartwarming.

"Thank you for not making me starve. I owe you. Thank you for the food. Ill enjoy it well." I smiled at him.

"Yes. Eat well." He smiled back to me.

I looked around me and saw nasty stares and looks of disbelief but, I don't care. That's what happens when you judge Hyungwon.

He's more to what people think.
