Chapter 16:: Forever
Author's POV:
5 minutes passed by... no one said a word neither did any of you pull away. You missed him so much, even in his arms, you were missing him so bad. How much did he miss you all along then? He never forgot a single thing, how much did he have to wait all along?
Your heart broke with every thought as you kept crying in his arms. He raised his head, realizing how badly you were crying.
"R-Rosecheeks..." You cried even harder hearing him, a sob escaping your eyes. You raised your head, staring at him through your blurry eyes. He wiped your tears and placed a kiss on your forehead. You closed your eyes, opening them again.
"Don't cry anymore..." He said, softly. You gulped before staring at him. Your heart was aching so bad, you were breaking apart right now.
"Hey, it's okay. I'm here." He said.
"I.. I remember it all. I'm s-so sorry for not believing y-you! I... I... m-miss you." You said, crying. He wiped your tears again and said, "We wouldn't be here if you didn't believe me, love."
You loved hearing him. His voice felt so familiar. His embrace felt so safe. He felt so safe.
His hands dropped to your waist, holding them firmly as you clutched on his cloth, staring at him.
"I..."
"Shh..." He stopped you, pulling you closer to him. His hand caressed your back as you rested your head on his chest again. Could you really pull away after 800 years of being apart?
"Are you okay?" He asked. You shook your head saying, "I'm s-sorry..."
"I know." He spoke. You just lay your head on his chest. His cold body felt warm, safe.
"I know that too." He said. You shook your head saying, "S-Stop reading my mind."
"It speaks to me.."
You chuckled while crying and pulled away, cupping his cheeks. You took a good look at his face, wiping his tears with your thumb. You missed him so much.
"You're tired..."
"I miss you."
"I know."
You both stared at each other. You couldn't help but notice how different he looked. All this time, he was around you. All these months. Yet, you were noticing only now how much he had changed. You were memorizing his face. You already had once, during the French ball but now, you couldn't help but notice even better.
You didn't realize it at first but a gasp escaped your lips as you were lifted up in the air. He was carrying you in a bridal style.
"T-Tae..."
"Shh... you're tired. You'll fall if you keep crying like that."
He was right. You were holding him for support. You were tired indeed. You put your hands around his neck, your rest resting on his chest. You didn't talk, just held his neck firmly as he walked out of the huge chamber.
Walking through the corridors, you saw a few people greeting you both immediately. They didn't seem weirded out. They just bowed quickly. You stared at them awkwardly as his deep voice spoke, "You're their Queen. Don't be scared."
"We're in Hades..." You spoke, looking at him. He nodded and smiled at you. You couldn't help but smile back, your eyes burned again.
He entered the same room where you had dashed out from.
"Leave us alone." He said in a stern tone as the guard bowed, closing the door and leaving. Taehyung placed you on the bed and sat beside you. You sat up, staring at him who smiled at you.
He caressed your hands as you sat there, looking at his hands and then at him. Those eyes held the deepest love stories that you could've ever imagined.
He was about to get up but you held his hand saying, "Where are you going?"
"I'll be back... just some time." You hesitated but let go of him. You didn't want him to go far from you, not right now.
He walked out of the room as you sat there. Soon, a guy came in with trays of food.
"Enjoy the food, Your Highness."
"Am I really a Queen here?"
"You are.." The guy spoke, smiling. You gulped and stared at them who put all the trays on the table near the bed.
"If you need anything, please feel free to call me. I'm a worker here. My name's Jacob." You nodded and looked down. He left as you gulped.
You were in Hades right now. It felt strange.
—On the other hand
"Her Highness is back!" The minister cried out in joy. Taehyung who was sitting on the grand throne said, "Not yet. I don't know her decision yet."
"She's back. We all saw you carrying her to the bedroom... is she not agreeing?" The minister asked, concerned.
"I haven't asked her anything yet. She's tired now. For now, just make sure Albert's men are all killed off. No second chances anymore. And... compensate for every soldier who died in the battle. That's all." Taehyung got up and said, "And... treat yourselves well tonight. No work."
Everyone was happy in the room as Taehyung softly smiled, getting out of the royal chamber.
He entered the bedroom to see you sitting there, eating a piece of guava.
"What are you wondering?" He asked, sitting beside you.
"Is this guava... from Hades?"
"Yes, it is."
You just ate the guava, looking down. He opened his arms for you as you stared at him for a minute before gulping as you rested your head on his chest. He hugged you and smiled, placing a kiss on your forehead.
"We... feel different."
"800 years is a long time, my love..."
"Did you wait for me all along?"
"I did..."
"My mark isn't there... why?"
"Because... you aren't destined to the throne anymore. It's your choice if you want to, as I said already."
"Right... I forgot."
"It's okay." He caressed your hair as you looked up at him, not saying anything.
"Why couldn't Albert see my mark back then?" You asked. He took in a breath before saying, "Well... sometimes, the mark is not visible when danger arrives. And Albert was a danger to you so."
"Right... it doesn't make sense."
"Nothing ever did. But it's still here..."
"Why do you still... wait for me? I ran away at that time."
"You ran away to save me. I knew that you were thinking of returning... with help. But it failed."
"But I still..." Your eyes brimmed with tears. You were hurt. He shook his head, placing a kiss on your nose.
"What happened to my family afterwards?"
"They... mourned. I watched them grow old... your cousins' children got married... their children got married... and it continued. I watched them all along. Some were nice people, some were not." You listened to his calm voice.
"Did you miss me a lot?"
"More than anything."
"I'm sorry... I came back late."
"As long as you came."
You couldn't help but pull him closer, placing a soft kiss on his lips as he smiled, kissing you back. His lips were so soft, so familiar. A gush of emotions filled your stomach up. Your body was feeling the exact same electric shock and those millions of butterflies dancing in your stomach. Just like the first time his lips came into contact with yours.
You cupped his cheeks, pulling him closer, deepening the kiss as his gentle hold on you stayed firm, like always.
Pulling away, you gasped for air as he chuckled saying, "You can't win with me. I don't need to breathe."
"It wasn't a competition!" You said back, panting. You dropped your head on his chest as he said, "I'm happy right now... I feel really happy."
"Me too..." You said, smiling. The warmth engulfed both of you.
But you felt him sigh. Looking at him, you frowned slightly asking, "What's wrong?" He shook his head, smiling.
"I still feel like I can sense when you're lying."
"You can.." He smiled, patting your head. He did that again. That one thing which defined your entire relationship, that one action which made you feel like the only person in the world besides him.
"I love it."
"I know."
"Tell me...? What's wrong?"
He felt the words stuck in his throat. He sighed and said, "The throne of the Queen..."
Right, he told you about it before. You stared at him innocently as he spoke, "It's your choice. Don't rush, take your time."
"Will I lose you if I don't take the throne?" You asked. He just pressed his lips before saying, "Not really... you just... might never come back to me again once you grow old and-"
He was teary. You were teary too.
"You don't have to think about it right now, love. Rest..."
"I want to be with you..."
"It's not a few years, it's forever... forever." He repeated, wondering deeply.
"Forever." You said. He sighed and said, "Let's talk about it later, hm? Rest now."
You nodded. He had told you about this before. Being the Queen, you'd have to watch civilizations grow over time. But could you? With him by your side, could you really watch all your loved ones grow old and pass away while the only ones left would be you and him. Your love for him was unconditional, it was worth dying for. But, did you need time as he said? You didn't know.
All you knew right now was that you needed him, with you. And he needed you, with him. And you'd be there for him, without a doubt.
Some time passed by and you were lying on the bed. He sat down there, stroking your hair.
"Sleep with me. I don't want to sleep here alone." You said. He smiled and nodded, laying beside you. You were in his arms again as he said, "I've dreamt of this night for centuries..."
"I'm late."
"At least you're here."
"This royal suit looks good on you." You said. He chuckled, finding your remarks out of context. You frowned and asked, "What's so funny?"
"You."
You smiled. But there was a question lingering in you. One which you wanted to ask him eagerly. You took a deep breath and asked, "What happened to Albert?"
