Chapter 18
The hosts all went to their separate rooms, and Himiko, Kimi, and Rin all split up, Himiko taking Kyoya's and Tamaki's rooms, Kimi taking Hikaru and Karou's room, along with Haruhi's, and Rin took Mori's and Honey's room, along with patrolling around the halls.
Standing guard between Tamaki's and Kyoya's rooms, Himiko heard the close of a laptop and a rustle of covers, signifying that Kyoya was finally going to sleep, and she was left standing in dark silence.
After a while of silence, Himiko got bored, and decided to do some snooping. She snuck into Kyoya's room easily, making sure not to wake him up. She noticed his black notebook was open on his dresser and she snuck over, finally getting to know what was in it. She had to be honest with herself, she was hoping for fan-fiction of the hosts.
But when she walked up to it, she was slightly dissapointed when she saw it wasn't fan-fiction, but read what was on the page anyways.
Similarities and differences between Sayuri Setsushi and Himiko Sukini.
The words were etched on the paper in screatchy, yet neat handwriting, Himiko felt a small bit of panic run through her, and she kept reading.
Similarities: Facial structure, "Signiture" close eyed smile, Rin, voice, laughter,
Differences: Black hair, Blue eyes, personality (Has said no bad jokes), tone of voice,
Conclusion: there is a high chance Sayuri could be Himiko. need more evidence.
Himiko took a step back, shadows covering her eyes. She closed the book quietly and headed out of the room, not waking Kyoya up.
She stood in the hall and leaned against the door, she should of known he would do something like this. Pushing herself off the door, she took a deep breath, "They can't find out." She said quietly to herself, looking down the dark hallway with a thoughtful look on her face.
Time seemed to pass as fast as a slug, and Himiko found herself laying on the floor and staring up at nothing in particular. Getting board of that, she stood up and walked along the hallway, gazing out the window at the starry night sky.
"Aren't you supposed to be doing your job?" A voice asked.
Himiko looked towards it, her eyes Meeting Rin's.
"There's nothing to do." Himiko whined, with a fake pout planted on her face.
"There's scouting for assassins." Rin stated.
"What are the chances of assassins coming for a second time? This is really just to make sure the hosts feel safe."
"And to protect Mr. Ootori, you know, what we were hired for?"
Himiko grunted, "I know. But can't a girl agore the sky for once?"
Rin opened his mouth to say something, then he realized that Himiko just said and sighed. "You didn't."
"Oh yes I did." Himiko mused happily.
"There wasn't anything to warrant that."
"Do I need anything?"
"Ye-"
"Nope!" Another voice exclaimed, and the two looked over to see Kimi walking up to them, also abandoning her post. "I think we should goreify her wonderful joke!"
"No, no we should not! And why aren't you doing your job?"
"No assassin would send someone the night after an attack. People will be on guard, they'll wait until it's safe." She yawned. "Besides. It was boaring."
Rin sighed. "I'm apparently the only person who takes this job seriously." Rin muttered, mostly to himself.
"Hey! We're taking it seriously!" Himiko and Kimi exclaimed at the same time, glancing at each other and devolving into giggles.
"Man. You two are children." Rin sighed.
"But you love us anyways~" Himiko teased.
Rin muttered something, a tint of red on his cheeks.
"What's that? I didn't ear you." Himiko asked, leaning closer to Rin.
"You didn't."
"Oh, I totally did."
Rin flicked her in the forehead, making Himiko take a step back. "Hey, no need to flick me off!" She started to laugh again.
"Come on Himiko, you need to stop with the puns." Rin groaned.
Himiko leaned close to his ear, "Never." She whispered. "I could never leaf puns behind!"
Her and Kimi kept on laughing together, while Rin just watched them with a tired face. "Why don't you two quiet down before you wake up one of the hosts."
"But Rin, that's not fun!" Kimi said.
"Actually... We should be careful, if any of the hosts saw me like this." She looked out the window. "Kyoya is already on to me."
"What? You mean he suspects who you really are?" Kimi asked.
Himiko nodded. "His black notebook. Earlier I peeked inside to the page it was open to. It was similarities between Sayuri and Himiko. He said he needed more evidence to come to a conclusion. But... I feel like he's really close to finding out."
"Then why don't you tell him." Rin asked, causing Himiko to look at him with wide eyes.
"What? Are you crazy-" Himiko started, only to feel Rin place a finger on her mouth, shushing her.
"You're only doing to to avoid anything awkward, and having to explain things. But, you probably could, very easily, explain everything. They already know you're an assassin. Just tell them about the test."
Himiko looked at him. "But... They'll feel like I lied to them." She whispered.
Rin looked her in her eyes. "Somethign tells me you're not worried about the hosts finding out, but you're worried about others."
Himiko looked at the ground, "My friends. The ones I made in the past year and a half. I... I can't stand the thought that they might hate me. They saw me stab myself, they saw me so close to death." She could feel her eyes watering, "I can't stand to see their expressions when they find out I lied to them. They could hate me forever."
Rin pulled Himiko into a hug, "Or, they could be relived that you're not dead, if they were true friends, they wouldn't hate you for being alive, Himiko." He said quietly. "That's a fact."
