the feathers of happiness, VII

There she was, just outside the door.

Dressed in an adorable sundress with the color of the sky,

with a thin jacket and a pair of sandals,

both bearing the shades of leaves in autumn.

Her mother combed her hair with a huge smile on her face,

proud of the art that she helped her daughter make.

"Nao! What do you think?"

Hana's mother proudly remarked.

"...Perfect-"

Words came out of his mouth without him realizing,

which was enough to free him from the trance

that kept him gazing at Hana for quite a while.

He quickly held his mouth and looked away.

"...I'm, I'm sorry."

"Did you hear that, sweetie?

He said it looked perfect!"

Hana held her face to keep herself from smiling too much.

Her mother was proud that her daughter was

slowly regaining herself, bringing tears to her eyes.

"Well, what are you two waiting for?

Go on ahead. Have a good time!"

She watched as Nao shyly stepped in

and took the handles of Hana's wheelchair.

He pushed it towards the street,

slowly disappearing into the horizon.

"Nori—"

she looked up.

"I'm happy.

Our daughter's starting to find her happiness again."
