So here we go with another update.

She kept on eating, when she was about to put the last bite in her mouth, she heard someone's coughing and turned her head towards the direction only to find Neil leaning against the door with his arms folded against his chest and a goofy smile adoring his face.

He came towards her and she bit her tongue as realisation dawned upon her. Neil smiled looking at her antics and took his seat beside her. Avni smiled nervously and forward the plate towards him.

Avni - I was feeling hungry so I ate it without you. ( pouts ) You can have this last bite.

Neil chuckles and forward the spoon towards her mouth, she opened her mouth for speaking something but Neil made her eat the last bite and she frowns at his action.

Avni - I am sorry.

Neil - Why are you sorry ? You are eating for two people infact I am sorry for being late.

Avni - I waited for you but.....

Neil - Shhh !! ( keeping his finger on her lips )

His eyes landed on the small chunks of food lingering beside her lips, he removed the small particles softly and cupped her face gently.

Neil - Don't be so formal with me Ananya, you have all the rights over me and you can ask for anything that you want. I will happily oblige your every demand.

Avni's cheeks heated up when he said that she have all the rights on him and a red hue coloured her cheeks making her look more cute. She smiled a bit and bowed her head down as she don't want him to notice her blush but it was too late, Neil have already seen her blushing profusely and smiled a bit at her shyness as he is witnessing this hidden side of her for the first time. He wanted to tease  her but at the same time he want to make her comfortable enough so that she can share everything with him so he dropped his plan and diverted the topic for reducing awkwardness between them.

Neil - So, how's everything ? I mean, you are comfortable at home right ?

Though he know very well that his family will make her feel good in every way possible still he wanted to make sure that she's able to adjust with her new life.

Avni - I got my perfect family Neil. ( smiles slightly ). Everyone is so caring and loving, they have accepted me whole-heartedly.

Neil - I already told you that everything will be fine but you and your tensions. ( huffs )

Avni giggles making him smile.

Avni - I am like this only and now you have to bare me. ( pokes her tongue out )

Neil - As you wish wifey. ( dramatically )

Avni - You will be hungry Neil.

Neil - I will order something.

Avni - No, let's go outside.

Neil - Give me five minutes, I have to instruct something to my colleagues and then we will go out. Okay ?

Avni nods and Neil left from there.

Avni - Am I doing right by hiding my past ? Neil deserves to know everything but what if he breaks our relation after knowing my truth. I want perfect family for my child, something that his mother never got but what if.....

Her thoughts were broken as cabin's door flung open, Avni stood up from her seat and was shocked after seeing the person standing at the doorstep.

Avni - Riya. ( shocked )

Riya - Ananya what are you doing here ? ( shocked )

She came forward and stood infront of Avni, her gaze landed on her nuptial chain and it was enough for planting a seed of suspicion in Riya's mind.

Riya - What are you doing here ? ( suspiciously ) I have been calling you since so many days but you aren't responding to my calls and here you are sitting in Neil's cabin. When you got married and with whom ?

Avni - That's non of your business. ( sternly )

Riya - We both are friends Ananya. ( sarcastically )

Avni - Go away Riya. I am not binded to give you any justification.

Riya - I want answers Ananya cos you are standing in the cabin of my fiancee.

Avni - Ex-fiancee Riya. Neil have broken all his ties with you and your family.

Riya - And how you know about all this ? Wait don't tell me that you married Neil. ( knitting her brows )

Before Avni can speak anything, Neil interrupted their conversation.

Neil - She is my legally wedded wife and now it's upto you how you are going to accept this reality Riya.

Both the girls looked into his direction  and found him standing at the doorstep of his cabin. He walked inside and stood beside Avni. He wrapped his arm around her shoulder and pulled her closer to him as if trying to indicate Riya, never mess with his wife or else she will face her husband who is very protective towards his wife.

Riya's eyes widened and her mouth flung open. She indeed received the biggest shock of her life. Here, she wanted to make things fine between them but now she is feeling as if she's the most helpless girl in this world as Neil is already married that too with Ananya.

Riya - How can you Ananya ? You know very well, how much I love Neil. Still you married him. ( shouted ) How can you marry her Neil ? 

Neil - Correction Riya, you don't love me. You love my money.

Riya - Neil I know whatever happened was wrong but.....

Neil - Leave.

Riya - What the hell you did Ananya for hypnotizing Neil ? Did you seduced him or ...

Neil - She can never stoop this low Riya. You know why, cos she isn't Riya Mehta, she is Ananya Neil Khanna. ( sternly )

Riya - I won't leave you Ananya. ( yelled at her )

Avni flinches at her tone, she was scared not for herself as she never cared about herself but her baby was in danger. Dayavanti will eventually come to know about her baby and will try to harm him. She wasn't bothered about Riya's words but she was trembling in fear as Dayavanti can kill her precious soul for fulfilling her revenge and if she get to know about her true identity then she will try to harm her by using her baby as a bait. She can bare anything but the fear of losing her baby was venomous and it was blocking her positive senses, her brain was filled with negativity, her entire childhood was coming infront of her eyes. How Dayavanti killed her mother, how she snatched her brother and how she killed her without any mercy. All these years, she hid her real face from the entire world and disguised herself as a glorified soul who is filled with love and mercy. Only she knows that dark hidden self of Dayavanti and now she don't want her baby to face this brutal woman who is devil in disguise.

She started shivering in Neil's arms, her eyes were filled with tears, her lips were quivering as if trying to form some words, her brain was provoking her to think about  Dayavanti, her evil laughter, disgusting words everything was playing in her head. The sound of that bullet shot which marked the end of Avni Ayesha and gave new identity to that broken hearted child in form of Ananya Verma was still audible to her. Her hand automatically landed over the left side of her chest as if trying to protect herself from the devil who took away her innocence and childhood.

Neil observed Avni's struggle and panicked at her vulnerability. He at once glared at Riya who was shooting daggers at Avni while blabbering some rubbish things.

Neil - Get out Riya. ( yelled at top of his voice )

Riya froze at her position as if trying to digest the fact that Neil yelled at her for the first time.

Neil - DD.

DD entered inside Neil's cabin as soon as he heard his callings.

Neil - Take her away before I loose my temper. ( sternly )

Riya - Neil I....

Neil - Go away Riya or else I will make you regret your decision of bragging into my cabin without my permission  and insulting my wife. ( sternly )

DD walked her out and turned back to see a terrified Avni. He looked at Neil with worried expressions. Neil blinked his eyes as if indicating him that he will take care of her. DD left his cabin giving some privacy to avneil.

Neil made her sit on the chair and made her drink some water, her eyes were still glassy, her breath was enraged and her hands were shivering.

Neil kneeled down infront of her and gripped her cold hands into his warm ones rubbing them softly for calming her. This was for the second time he witnessed her vulnerable form, it was more painful for him to see her in this condition. He cursed Riya in his mind for making her go through this mess, few minutes before she was so happy and now she was sitting her with blank expressions.

Neil cupped her face and made her face him, she was on the verge of crying, he kissed her eyes so that her frustrating emotions can recede from her orbs unfettering her from the intense inner turmoil which is not less than a burden for her.

Avni kneeled down infront of him for matching his level while tears were freely flowing down from her eyes. She threw her arms around his torso pulling him into a tight hug. Neil was shocked at her sudden action but he wrapped his arms around her for giving her some comfort and warmth that her heart is yearning at this moment. Were Riya's words so severe that she lost her fierceness at this moment ? This question was roaming in his mind but he was much sensible to analyse the situation properly. Riya's words aren't responsible for her condition but some confined emotions and wounds that are scribbled deep inside her heart are responsible for her situation. He knows very well that she is a bold woman and never gives much importance to maniacs like Riya, if she is going through emotional breakdown then her final nerve of tolerance has been pressed brutally.

He whispered sweet nothings in her ears while rubbing her back for pacifying her broken heart. Avni cried bitterly while clutching his shirt into tight fists as if trying to embrace herself within his protective cocoon. After sometime, she broke the hug and faced Neil.

Avni - Riya .....will .... tell.... ( hiccuping ) about our ... marriage to ... Mehta family.... Neil they will harm ...... our ... our ( sobs ) baby..... I don't...care about ..... ( sobs ) myself but..... I can't loose .... my baby .... ( crying )

Neil cupped her face and joined his forehead with hers.

Neil - No one will harm you both. Do you really think I will let anyone maltreat you ? No Ananya, they have to face me before they lay their hands over you or our baby. I won't allow anyone to play with my life. It's my promise to my wife.

Avni - You...you...you.... ( sniffs ) don't know about them.... they are very evil Neil... they are very bad....

Neil - Nothing will happen, just believe me and us. We won't let anything happen to our baby.

He again embrace her into his arms protecting her from all the terrible thoughts that are running in her head. He wanted to ask her what's bothering her but he decided against it as he don't want to give her more stress as its not good for her and their baby. So, he decided to cheer her up in order to divert her mind from the negativity.

After few minutes, he broke the hug and wiped her tears. He pressed his lips against her forehead while she closed her eyes in anticipation.

Neil - Let's go out.

Avni nods and got up. They both moved out of the police station and sat in Neil's car. Neil started driving the car while Avni was silent throughout the ride. Neil stopped the car after few minutes while Avni frowned as they were standing infront of a park. Neil held her hand and walked them towards the park. The park was very peaceful at this moment, few people were present there and all were indulged into their own world. Neil and Avni sat on a bench enjoying the view of sunset. The orange hue splendid around the big ball of fire was beautifying the sky in it's own way, the greenery of park was a soothing view for the person who is going through an inner struggle just like Avni.

Avni kept on staring at the surroundings forgetting all her worries, this was the only reason why Neil brought her here. He knew very well how to cheer her up when she's down. His small gestures always acts as elixir for her and heals her internally. Neil's face was blessed with a huge smile when he observed a slight twitch lingering at her lips which was enough for telling him that his plan actually worked and now she is fine.

He looked around and spotted an ice- cream vendor. Avni was lost in the beauty of surroundings so he walked towards the vendor for fetching ice-cream for them. He came back and offered an ice-cream to Avni which she politely denied.

Neil - ( while looking at ice-cream ) Choco chip ice-cream, a perfect delicacy for chocolate lovers.

Avni looked at him with a cute frown adoring her face.

Neil - But I guess someone don't want this, no problem I will have both the ice-creams.

When he was about to take his first bite, Avni snatched the ice-cream cone from his hand and started munching on it like an impatient child. Neil smiled at her antics and kept on looking at her. Avni looked at him and pouted.

Avni - I don't want to have this but our baby is craving for ice-cream and I can't deny him.

Neil - Oh !! If baby is demanding then you should fulfill his demands.

Avni - That's what I am doing.

Neil pulled her cheek and chuckles while Avni was busy with her ice-cream.

He held her hand that was resting on bench and entangled it with his. He shifted closer to her and wrapped an arm around her shoulder pulling her closer. Avni looked at him and rest her head against his chest. Both sat in silence enjoying the view and munching on their ice-creams. In short  enjoying each other's company without exchanging any words cos  sometimes silent gestures are more soothing.

After sometime, they both left for their home. As soon as they entered inside their gaze landed upon their family members who were busy in discussing something.

Neil - What happened dad ? ( confused )

Family members saw avneil standing there with confused faces and looked at each other.

Shweta - First of all you tell me one thing, where were you both ? As far as I remember I sent Avni to police station for a lunch date but you didn't let her come back. Why so ?

Prakash - Shweta ji, it happens after all they are newly married couple. ( smirks )

Shweta - Oh yes yes.

Avneil became embarrassed due to constant teasings.

Bebe - Now stop teasing my kids, you both go and freshen up then come for dinner.

Avneil nodded and left.

Dinning table

All were having their dinner silently while bebe broke the silence.

Bebe - Neil Ananya I want to talk about something.

Neil - What happened bebe ?

Bebe - Why don't you both go for a short trip to Lonavala ?

Neil - Bebe, Ananya is pregnant so how can we....

Shweta - Tillu Ananya is healthy so she can travel. Moreover, it's a short trip.

Neil - But....

Prakash - Neil, you will be there with her. You both are newly married couple so you guys need to spend some time together.

Neil - Well, if Ananya is comfortable then I have no objection.

All looked at Avni with hopeful eyes waiting for her answer. She smiled at them and nodded positively.

Shweta - After Ananya's delivery, we will arrange a proper honeymoon for you both. ( teasingly )

Neil - Mom... ( raises his eyebrows )

Bebe - Shweta is right.

Neil - Bebe you also... ( unbelievably )

Shweta - What ? We aren't saying anything wrong and you have to obey our orders.

Neil - I surrender. ( sighs )

Bebe - Good for you.

After sometime, they all dispersed in their rooms.

Avni was lying on the bed facing the ceiling and drowned in her thoughts.

Avni - ( in mind ) I don't know how I broke down infront of him, I always manage to hide my shattered side but when he's with me, I am unable to compose myself. His embrace and words always makes me feel comfort that's why I always loose myself when I am with him. You are changing me Neil and I really don't know if this change is good or bad. All I know that I am getting habitual to your presence and I really don't know what will happen to me if you move away from me. You are gaining my trust but I fear to give you all of myself because my heart have been broken several times and now I don't have guts to face another heartbreak. I am trying my best to build walls around me so that I can protect myself but you are breaking each and every barrier without any difficulty. How can you manage to do this Neil ? Why are you changing me ? I am loving this change still I am fearing it. I am feeling helpless at this moment. I want you close still I try to push you away.

Her thoughts were broken when Neil walked out of washroom and positioned himself on the bed beside her. He looked at her and smiled while she smiles back.

Neil - You are happy right ?

Avni frowns.

Neil - I mean you are comfortable with this trip. Right ? Or you are doing this under some pressure ?

Avni - No, I really want to go out for diverting my mind. Moreover, Neela maa is also out of town and I am missing her badly. So, this trip is a perfect idea for averting our minds from the recent happenings.

Neil smiles at her.

Neil - Now sleep, you are already tired. Good night.

Avni - Good night.

Soon sleep engulf Avni in its peaceful arms while Neil was thinking about the entire day but what made him curious was Avni's urf Ananya's sudden breakdown and her vulnerable side which was quite mysterious.

Neil - ( in mind ) Being a cop, I have developed some instincts and those instincts are  provoking me to think beyond the limits. According to my analysis, Ananya is linked with Mehta family and she fears Dayavanti Mehta. Though she is brave person still she have alot of sadness stored deep inside her heart. It seems as if she is carrying alot of wounds within her heart and is burning in some pain but she is drinking back her tears, she is suppressing her pain and bottling up her emotions for surviving in some battle. Everyday, she is fighting an inner battle. There is some missing link which is the root cause of her problems and I need to find that. Ananya is definitely hiding something and I will find it out.

He looked at Avni who was sleeping peacefully and tucks her hair strand behind her ear and kept on staring her until his mobile phone rang. He picked up the call.

Neil - Yes DD.

DD - .................. ( 🤔🤔 )

Neil - Okay, I am going out of town for 1 week till then manage everything.

Call ends

Neil was reading some information from his mobile until he felt a sudden weight on his chest. He shifted his gaze downwards and found that Avni has wrapped her arm around his torso and was snuggling close to his chest as if seeking his warmth. Neil smiled and turned off his mobile. He wrapped his arms around her and pulled her more closer, she smiled a bit in her sleep, he kissed her forehead and caressed her belly.

Soon sleep took over him and they both submerged themselves within the tranquil of each other's embrace.
