◇ ~Chapter Four~ ◇

Upon hearing the voice of Kimlasca, Cayde immediately felt calmed, the presence of such a divine being reminded him of who he was and what he was doing.

"Kimlasca, it's an honor." Cayde spoke, bowing his head respectfully.

"Cayde," Kimlasca responded, "I am honored to see you as well. The light of your spirit, and the strength of your determination, guided you here, back to the very place where we all believed the journey came to an end. I'm sure everything that has happened after your sacrifice has left you with thousands of new questions, and you want answers."

Cayde nodded, "I have a lot of questions, yes. I suppose the one I want to ask first is... did you know? About what would happen next, after I gave my life here?"

There was a moment of silence before the orb spoke, "I wish I knew everything that would have happened next, but even someone as powerful as myself is unable to see, or predict, what future events may bring with absolute certainty. When the darkness of Mystearica invaded this shrine and endangered you, your friends, and Harmony itself, it became clear that a dark force was growing, and in time it could arrive here, in full force, and endanger everything here. It became clear that to stop such a dark force, light had to step in."

Kimlasca continued, "And so, when you were asked if you wanted to give your life to protect the land you so dearly cared for, you accepted without hesitation. With a heavy heart, we all saw watched your peaceful sacrifice, which created a spectacle able to be viewed around the entire world, and provided this land with enough energy to be safe from darkness that lurked."

"When you gave your life, we believed your journey to have reached its end. However, I saw, in your eyes, in your soul, that it was not over. So when you gave your life, I saw how much Harmony you had within you. I reached into the light, and I saw the light of your soul, shining like a star. So in that moment, I used my own power to help keep your soul safe from becoming one with the stars, as the rest of you had become in the sacrifice. I knew that your soul could not wander amidst, for it would fade away if it did not have purpose. So I guided it off, out into the world, in order to give it a place to reside. And so it did, your very soul was transferred into the body of a sleeping boy."

"Now, here you stand, determined to return here and transfer your soul back to your own body, while also being able to transfer the body of the boy back to the place he resided before, correct?" Kimlasca asked.

Cayde nodded, "Yes, that's correct." He said, taken aback by all the information he had been told. Kimlasca had saved him during his sacrifice, helped him save his soul from also becoming one with the stars. With both the combined power of Cayde's soul, and Kimlasca's harmonic power, it was able to be saved.

"The next question I had was... is it possible for me to return my soul to my own body again?" He asked.

The orb suddenly glowed brighter, and erupted into a flash of golden light, shining a beam onto the ground in front of Cayde.

When the bright light faded, the orb remained, floating calmly above the ground. However, below it, the golden aura of the legendary wolf himself, stood. For the first time since Cayde had sacrificed himself, he stood face to face with the original Wolf of Harmony from thousands of generations ago. With the power of Harmony within Kimlasca, Cayde, and the shrine around them, he was able to create a vivid, golden projection of himself in order to see and speak to Cayde.

Cayde watched in wonder, and both of them looked right into each other's eyes. Kimlasca smiled softly at him, and spoke again.

"Indeed, it is possible."

Cayde let out a sigh of relief, "Oh, that's wonderful! I'm so glad!" He exclaimed, his spirits boosted tremendously.

"I suppose we shouldn't hold off on doing it, then. Let's begin, shall we?" Kimlasca asked.

Instantly, Cayde nodded and smiled.

"Follow me to the top of the shrine, where you once stood before when you sacrificed yourself." Kimlasca said, walking towards the staircase that led to the top of the shrine. The orb hovered above Kimlasca, and Cayde followed behind him. Together, the two went up the staircase, and once more Cayde stood atop the shrine, looking out into the clearing. Before, he stood here and expected his journey to end, his sacrifice being the end of his story... but here he was again, and this time, it was to begin a whole new chapter.

"The light of your spirit burns brighter than ever, Cayde. Are you ready to return to your own body?"

Cayde nodded, "I'm ready."

"Then let us begin."

And so, the outline of a circle began to glow with a golden aura. Cayde stood in the center, his heart pounding. Last time he was here, this circle was one of the last things he remembered.

The orb that hovered over Kimlasca, moved towards the circle, now floating in front of Cayde. The circle glowed brightly, and began to shake lightly.

"Do you feel it? The light, it's resonating within you. All around you. It's unlocking yourself once more."

The ground shook more, and the orb glowed brightly, a sound emitting from it that sounded almost like it was charging something up.

"It's time to be free again, Wolf of Harmony."

A golden beam of light shot directly at Cayde, causing his body to radiate with golden energy. The light grew so strong that it enveloped Cayde. Tendrils of light were all around him, and particles of golden light surrounded him. His vision went white, and he lost feeling of his body.

And then, he felt it.

He felt his own body once more. His energy, and Kimlasca's energy, was enough to bring his once-sacrificed body back. Before, he had sacrificed himself, and in doing so, he was able to emit enough energy to protect the land all around him. And now, the land was protected by the energy from his sacrifice, and Cayde was able to use his light, his hope, to help bring his body back. To help bring HIM back.

He felt his soul return to its true body. Once the light faded around Cayde, he landed on the center of the circle again. As the light faded, he lifted his head up and howled majestically, sending another pulse of golden light out around the shrine.

"Do you feel it? The light is back, YOU'RE back!" Kimlasca said triumphantly.

Cayde looked at himself. Four paws, white fur, and the Mark of Harmony glowing once more on his head. He was Cayde again. His true self. His soul had finally been reunited with his body.

"You did it." Kimlasca said, smiling brightly.

At long last, Cayde was the Wolf of Harmony again. Not the Wolf of Harmony whose soul was transferred to someone else's sleeping body, no... he was the Wolf of Harmony, in his own body again.

"I am so proud of you, Cayde. The light of your spirit was strong enough to make this happen. And now, your journey can truly continue."

Cayde smiled softly. It felt great to be himself again. The body of the boy had been transferred back to the hospital he resided in before, sent back by a golden beam of light. And soon, he would wake up, and that boy would be himself again too.

"I'm... I'm so glad to be me again." Cayde said softly, overjoyed by what had happened. The power of the light, the power of Harmony, was enough to restore his body and bring his soul back to it. Once, he had given his life in a beautiful sacrifice, and now... that life, that body, was truly reunited with Cayde, and his soul. He was Cayde, the Wolf of Harmony, again.

The golden orb faded away, and all that remained was Kimlasca, and the white wolf, Cayde. The two stood atop the Shrine of Kimlasca, beneath the stars, both of them overjoyed by what had happened.

Cayde didn't simply bow his head respectfully and thankfully towards Kimlasca, no. This time, he threw his paws around him and hugged him as best as a wolf could. Kimlasca chuckled in response and put a paw around Cayde.

"Thank you, Kimlasca." Cayde told him.

"Thank you as well, Cayde." He replied.

Cayde pulled himself away, taking a deep breath and smiling, his expression clearly showing how hopeful and happy he was.

"Now, Cayde, there is more I must tell you," Kimlasca began, "Did you have a vision of a golden bird the other night?" He asked.

Cayde nodded, "Yes, I did."

"I see. The vision was a way of communicating with you. I could not understand everything the vision had sent you, but I sent it because I sense a dark force somewhere out there, and I am afraid that it may be coming here, to our land." Kimlasca sighed.

"What? But, what about the energy from my sacrifice? It was supposed to protect this land from darkness?" Cayde said with surprise.

He shook his head, "There is only one dark force capable of reaching this place, a dark force that matches your own power in an opposite way. That only means one thing... I believe the Wolf of Chaos, and a dark army, may be planning to come here. After what happened when you saved the Master Alpha of the Kimlascan Pack from being manipulated and controlled, I am afraid that the Wolf of Chaos may be taking matters into their own paws." He sighed.

"That's awful... is there anything we can do to stop it?" Cayde asked.

"Luckily, the vision is not certain. I sensed a dark force, but it may not be coming here, it may not truly be powerful, and this land may be safe. I do not know for certain, but if I sense that dark force growing stronger and coming closer, I will inform you as best as I can." Kimlasca replied.

"Do not worry, Cayde. Everything will be alright, things will be alright because we are here, together. Everything will be okay." He assured, seeing the worry in Cayde's eyes. He didn't want him to worry, the vision was not a guarantee. It was just a prediction, and Kimlasca did not want it to make Cayde feel afraid of worried, just informed.

"If something begins to happen, we'll know." He added, putting a paw on Cayde's shoulder. Cayde smiled and nodded, relieved and calm.

"Thank you, Kimlasca. You're right, if something does begin to unfold, we'll be here together, to face whatever may come." Cayde responded, confident now.

He smiled back at Cayde and nodded, "Let's get you home to the Kimlascan Pack. I'm sure you wish to see your friends again, and I'm sure they will be overjoyed to see you back."

The two once again had smiles on their faces, full of hope, joy, and happiness. Cayde was free, he had been reunited with his body, and now, he celebrated with Kimlasca. The divine, original Wolf of Harmony was full of happiness and hope as well, proud of Cayde for all he had done.

Finally, Cayde's journey was about to take a new step.

From the top of the shrine, Cayde looked around again before looking at Kimlasca, nodding.

And with smiles on their faces, and hope in their eyes, Cayde knew Kimlasca was right.

It was time to go home.
