Chapter Five ... Doram's Alpha

POV
The Scribe Of Adornia

Doram awoke to the sound of shuffling, he watched from his bed as his Alpha drunkenly stumbled around their room, watching Suril mutter to himself in the darkened room, R'aron's words from almost a night ago replayed in his mind.

Doram... your mate has an addiction to the feeling of release, this is fate teaching you of your past sins. Hold fast to him, he tries to fight his abandonment in the wrong ways, seeking comfort in the arms of others to try and remain the ever ruthless Alpha in front of you and his father... when I restore you and your tribe... when you return from the high mountains you will understand him and through your relationship two great battles will be won.

What did her words mean?

He could guess a few things, Doram's mate Suril, he did seem to be addicted to sex, he slept with whores like they would suddenly disappear, Doram had even caught the Alpha masturbating, something Adornians call hik'olo. ( self-abuse) Doram understood that part of R'aron's words but he didn't know what she meant about fate teaching him of his pas sins. He'd never had any addictions, he didn't like alcohol, he didn't take drugs, and he wasn't at any point in his two centuries of living addicted to sex.

R'aron said he was to hold fast to his Alpha, and that he would at some point understand Suril, Doram wasn't sure, but R'aron wasn't a liar, she hadn't ever said anything that hadn't come to pass, so he decided to just listen and do his best to tolerate his wicked mate. Doram was never good at deciphering R'aron's prophecies. She spoke to him in riddles and he hated that.

As he pretended to be asleep he listened to Suril mutter to himself. He said nothing as his Alpha climbed naked into their bed, smelling heavily of wollow-(alcohol made from wallow berries) and at least two different Omega. Doram was thankful for the numbing potions Bara had gotten him two years ago, after the festival of Aloulia-( Beginning of the spring year) Bara had given several big potion vials to him the first time Suril went outside their relationship. The pain Suril caused had certainly almost killed Doram's wolf, but what did it matter, castle Omega weren't allowed to shift, so Doram drank the potion and it put his wolf to sleep.

One sip every day and he wouldn't feel the effects of Suril's sexual conquest.

Doram stiffened almost unnoticeably when Suril grabbed his body and pulled him tightly against his own, Doram wanted to cry from the smell of sex and strong drink pouring off his Alpha, yet that instantly went away when he heard the Alpha quietly sniffling. He said nothing as he listened to Suril suddenly start talking to him, he wondered for a moment if Suril knew he was awake, but certainly the Alpha would never have talked to Doram like he was, he would never allow Doram to hear him sounding so vulnerable and weak.

"I didn't really want to lay with them, but I was drinking... I'm always drinking... then they began to say the things I wish you would say to me, they seem to see me in the way I wish you could. I understand though. You were forced to be with me, you're from the Swamps. And I took you away from that freedom. Forced you into this life, a life I don't want... I hate this life, but you my quiet Omega, you can't understand... my father... I have to make him proud." Suril whispered all of this, and Doram could hear the hurt in his Alpha, but he felt no pity for him... all he saw was Suril sharing pieces of himself with so'dalo. (whores)

"I will try to be faithful, I will do my best." Suril said, but these were just words, in his drunken mind he meant them, maybe he meant them in his heart as well, but when morning came, Suril the son of Gamlek would awaken from his drunken stupor and put on the facade he'd been using since he found his mother dead.

Suril had been nothing like his father, the older Alpha was a knight from the first generation of Alpha's, the king's brother. Suril was born in the lower city, not far from the Swamps, his mother had been all he had, he'd grown up knowing he was King Avif's nephew, but he'd had no interest in being a knight. It wasn't until his mother died that he gave into his father. Unbeknownst to poor Suril his father had killed his mother and made it appear a suicide.

Gamlek was mean and violent and Suril wasn't like that, at least he hadn't been. Gamlek was olive skinned and Suril was a darker complexion like his mother. His father had hazel eyes, Suril's were dark brown like his mother.

Gamlek had a full beard and Suril could grow no more than the hairs that were around his lips and on his chin. He kept his dark hair cut close to his head...

No, Suril wasn't anything like Gamlek, he wasn't like his cousin's Caros and Eucalus, he wasn't like any of the other knights, but he pretended to be. And by the time he met Doram, he was already broken, he'd somehow become everything his moterri-( mother ) raised him not to be.

Doram woke up with his body fastened to the Alpha, he couldn't remember when he'd fallen asleep but he did remember listening to his drunk mate cry about his moterri while he held his Omega as if he loved him. Doram sighed as he knew he would have wake his Alpha up as he would probably still be slightly intoxicated.

"Suril... it's time to get up... Suril... the second sun is rising... Suril!" Doram finally shouted, and the Alpha snarled in the Omega's ear.

"I'm awake Omega, go make yourself useful and fill the yalut-(small pond/tub)." Suril demanded, he released the Omega and sighed as he watched him get up and go over to the yalut. This was their routine, Suril would play the highly dominant knight, he'd treat Doram like he was a chore, something he had to deal with. And Doram was just as uncaring. Suril could feel his Omega's dislike, he could see how unhappy Doram was.

He didn't smile anymore.

When Suril first spotted the Omega, he'd been in the Swamps, at the border of the wilds there's a ma'jek market, mostly healing potions, amulets and other cheap ma'jek brought in from the almost extinct Jovo-(Fire) Faerie's. There were even some human descendants who sold food goods. Suril had after close to three years left the castle for the first time. He was walking around the mud filled space going from vendor to vendor.

As he approached one of the vendor wagons the scent of the Omega inside the wagon drew him in, the smile Doram wore for a brief moment allowed Suril to see a future where he could easily fall in love with the gorgeous Omega who was covered in vil'ki-(sprite kisses/freckles). But the look of horror on Doram's face when their eyes met and he realized they were mates. It was like a blanket being thrown on all of Suril's desires. It only got worst when he brought Doram to the castle.

Their claiming ceremony had been awful, not on Suril's part, but he could just sense how much Doram hated the idea of the ceremony, most Omega did, Suril did as well, but his father had demanded he claim his mate. He did it so gently, but the Omega couldn't get comfortable. Suril faked his own release and then quickly marked Doram.

He carried the shaking and crying Omega to their den, he intended to make things better and apologize, but as he soaked Doram in their yalut, his father came and said his uncle was offended because he did not attend the after feast. Gamlek demanded he join them and produced Doram's brother Bara telling his son to come and be merry.

That was the first time Suril realized he didn't deserve a mate, he didn't deserve happiness, that night deep in the heart of Crescent city Suril drank an almost toxic amount of wollow and he couldn't remember much after... he woke up inside the Onigal-( Omega ) House. He was surrounded by other young knights and the elder knights, his father and the king included.

They were all naked, himself included, and scattered between all of them were thirty or forty Omega, some as young as sixty... about fourteen in Earth years. Flashes of the night, the ani-ahil-( public sex/ orgy ) it all went through his head. His head which was pounding, he wanted to get out of there, but then he sat frozen, surely his Omega would have felt him sleeping with the so'dalo-( whores ).

He did what he saw other Alpha's do, he collected himself and prepared to lie. But when he got back to the castle, borrowing clothes from one of the sixty knights who weren't at his after feast, his brother in law I'zol. Suril found Doram unbothered and sleeping peacefully. When he awoke he didn't give up any signals that he knew anything of Suril's night. Suril knew then his mate felt nothing for him, and he decided not to give him his heart, and to never to let the Omega know how messed up he was. He'd pretend to be his father, cold, distant and hostile, and after a while he almost wasn't pretending.
