Author's note (what a great way to put this here after 8 months)
Mikuru finally appears after 8 months.
"Oh hey readers, I could explain-"
She sees the pitch forks and torches, their faces completely agitated and impatient due to waiting. I mean, who wouldn't get mad for waiting 9 months just for a chapter?
*sigh*
"Before you virtually kill me in the internet and scream at me using your 'caps lock', I have to be completely honest here."
Haru pops in beside me, "After eight months, you decided to confront the readers?"
"Yes, I think they should at least know what's happening with me."
"UPDA--" A loud muffled sound could be distinctly heard.
"They're making a ruckus again aren't they?" Mikuru sighed, as she stared at the box in the corner of her room.
"Do you want me to get them?" Haru asked, an amused smile on his face.
"Sure, go ahead. I'm sure the readers would want to see them."
Haru returned with a medium-sized box, before he opens it, he asked.
"Are you sure you want to do this? They're quite a handful when they were released the last time."
"Just show them to the readers already."
When Haru opened the box, it revealed the chibi cast of Diabolik lovers.
*stare*
*stare*
They were silent for a few seconds till Chibi Ayato shouted.
"UPDATE UPDATE!" His voice made an impact to the rest and just like him, they all shouted the same word.
"UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE!"
They shouted in sync and jumped off the box charging at the female author.
Mikuru blankly stared at them as they crawled up on her table using their adorable hands.
"When will you update?! You kept the readers waiting!" Chibi Ayato barked at Mikuru.
The rest of the Chibis were holding protest signs that says UPDATE as they marched back and forth on the table.
To Mikuru, they look like plushies she wanted to *cough* strangle due to their non stop riot*cough* HUG so badly.
The Chibis continued their shouting for a few more minutes which could have amazed the author due to their voices not being strained until now. But right now, she's VERY annoyed at them and regrets letting them out in the first place.
"Enough"
"UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE!!!"
"Enough"
"UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE!!!"
Mikuru's right eye started to twitch, that's it she has reached her limit.
"I SAID ENOUGH!" Her shout vibrated across her room, the chibis immediately shut their mouths. They were stunned yet surprise at the same time, Mikuru never shouted at them when the first time they protested.
Haru who was standing idly, flinched at the sudden tone of the author. Gathering his courage, the male reached out to her.
"Mikuru, are you alright?"
The author faced him, anger and annoyance filled her eyes.
"OH YES, I'M PERFECTLY FINE. I LOVE HOW THEY TRY TO 'MOTIVATE' ME TO WRITE THE NEXT CHAPTER. CAN'T YOU SEE HOW HAPPY I AM RIGHT NOW?!" Her voice laced with venom and sarcasm.
Haru backed away a few steps,
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to ask you an obvious question. I am just... concerned about the state of the others right now."
Mikuru who has cooled down a bit, regained her composure. She cleared her throat,
"I apologize for my sudden outburst but... what do you mean the state of others...?"
Haru sighed, his usual emerald eyes were distant. Now that Mikuru noticed it, Haru has not been himself for the past few months yet she didn't have time to confront him.
"I don't want to trouble you at first, I know you're too busy planning for your future to invest your time on this fictional story. I always see you... working hard that you barely have sleep anymore. Whenever you have time for yourself, you spend it on things you love and I completely understand that. But now I can't bare to watch them like that any longer."
Haru's voice cracked, his lips were trembling which now greatly concerned the author.
"H-Haru... What are you trying to tell me..?"
The male stayed silent for a few seconds till his eyes looked straight at Mikuru.
"You had created a world where you put me in, a world where you can control it because You are the author. Just like any authors, you can make a world and decide what characters to put in. It may sound like a fun ability to have, but when an author stops updating, the world you made just... froze. It won't continue unless you write another chapter."
Mikuru stayed silent, waiting for the male to continue. The chibis sat quietly on the desk, witnessing everything, they wouldn't dare utter a word at this point.
"I was able to come here since you made me to, with a simple click on your keyboard. The same state goes for the chibis you wanted them here, to keep you company even though you rarely talked to them. I already accepted before that I was only a fictional character a person who does not born but made. But Mikuru, I know it's going against my character, but it's been 9 months. I'm not forcing you to update, I just wanted to hear (Y/N)'s voice again, that's all I ask for."
Haru had tears brimming the corner of his eyes he took another shaky breath,
"If you don't have time to write this story anymore... you could always just-"
His voice was ragged and shaky.
"-delete this story."
Mikuru is loss for words,
"W-What...?"
"If you delete this story, we would all be free... we won't stay in a frozen-like state. You won't have to worry about updating anymore and we'll be out of your lives for good. We won't bother you anymore."
"Chibis... what are your thoughts about this?" Mikuru softly asked.
The Chibis formed a circle and talked silently, as if they were trying to discuss and decide what they wanted. When they were done, Chibi Ayato walked up the author.
"Yeah, I think it would be better if we were gone, we don't have to burden you and you'll have more time to focus on your life... well the only problem are the readers. Ha. They will be pissed." Chibi Ayato said, a forced grin on his face.
"I can't do it." Mikuru confessed, her body was shaking and she blinked her eyes to stop the tears forming in the corner of her eyes.
"Mikuru...you don't have to force yourself to do this. You could live an easier life with less things to worry about." Haru said, he really wanted to comfort her, saying that it would be alright. But that is only a sweet lie that will end in a bitter truth.
"No. I won't do it."
"If you won't do it, then I will." Haru firmly said.
Mikuru widened her eyes, her body tensed up as she watched Haru opened her PC. She told her body to move, but it won't listen to her.
Move!
From the corner of her eyes, she could see the chibis smiling sadly at her, its like those smiles meant goodbye.
No!
Mikuru felt her legs moved and her right arm immediately reached out to Haru.
"Stop!"
She was about to touch the male's shoulder when she was abruptly stopped by a psychic barrier.
"Huh...?" The author touched the barrier but couldn't pass her hands through them.
"You gave me slight psychic abilities right...? I'm sorry I used it on you." Haru said as he clicked the familiar icon which opened the story settings.
Mikuru stood up and banged against the barrier.
"Haru stop this right now, I am your author and your going against your character." She said strictly, trying to get to her OC. Her words may be cold but her eyes says it differently as she have tears on them.
"I'm sorry this is the only thing I regret, going against you... but this is all for the best. This is for your happiness and for (Y/N)... who will now be free." Haru clicked the delete button.
Are you sure you want to delete this story?
>Yes >No
Haru paused, the cursor stayed on the Yes button. He closed his eyes and clicked on the button. A tear fell from his right eye.
It has been done. The page refreshed and showed the same settings once more.
To Mikuru's horror, the characters started to glitch out. She rushed to the chibis and hugged them all tightly, crying out for them to not disappear.
Haru smiled sadly, had he made a mistake..? But he knew he can't change time. What is done, has been done.
"Haru!" Mikuru shouted out, the male forced himself to move to reach out to her one last time.
He painfully wrapped his arms around Mikuru, his arms were glitching out just like a flashing broken screen.
"I'm sorry Mikuru... for everything. You may hate or resent me, but I only have one more wish..." Haru sadly smiled at Mikuru who is now crying her heart out.
"Please don't forget us."
"I won't! I will never forget, so please don't leave me!" She shouted.
The chibis were not making a sound anymore and just like that, they disappeared.
Haru is barely in front of Mikuru his arms still around her, he's trying his best to stay awake but his eyes are becoming hazy by each passing second. He at least wanted to comfort Mikuru, he had done this himself.
"Hey... remember the time you wrote the part where I get jealous of each male (Y/N) has interacted with? I was always the jealous-type huh." Haru slightly chuckled to himself which sounded robotic-like.
Mikuru stayed silent, listening to what Haru said, she would treasure each second of this moment.
"Also the time you changed my character to a cry-baby? Haha... that was hilarious yet embarassing at the same time on my account."
"You were going to take programming as your course right? I wish you the best of luck. Knowing you, I know you can do it." He recalled the times when Mikuru focused on the codes she wanted to learn.
"But you know... there was another thing I regret other than making you cry..."
Mikuru looked up to see Haru smiling at her.
"I didn't get to see you write my ending with (Y/N)."
After those words, he disappeared.
"NO!" Mikuru shouted from her bed, her eyes were wide and filled with tears.
The girl took a look in her surroundings, everything looked normal.
Her eyes landed on her PC and she immediately rushed to it. After a few minutes, she stared at the screen in front of her. The story she made is still published.
Updated 8 months ago
"Was all of that a dream...?"
Mikuru shook her head,
"It seemed to real."
She recalled the painful words Haru had said.
Please don't forget about us.
The author sat on her chair and with a determined look on her face she typed:
Chapter 59
--
*BREAKING THE 4TH WALL INTENSIFIES*
Hello! Welp, this was supposed to be a small rant author's note I didn't expect it to become a mini story. I wanted to try out an angst chapter, and this is my first time writing it (I don't know if u consider Chapter 30 - 34 angsty o3o)
Anyways, this is NOT related to this story. I'm just trying it out (lol reader be like: then why don't you write chapter 59 instead of writing this and wasting our goddamn time) Well I'm not here to write to entertain you readers, I write for my self-amusement or if I feel like writing. There were also hints that the author is busy and YES I AM.
I'm in the 11th grade (only going to reveal that only) were students are mostly preparing for important tests and planning their careers. The spare time that I love to have is used for Sleeping, Instagram and Mystic Messenger. (IM IN MM HELL, HELP ME.) I'm not sure when will I write again but I'll try my best to write if I feel like it on my spare time.
