Chapter 9 - Pastry Wednesday

I was debating on whether to put this chapter in or not b/c it's filler, but I decided I should. It's a lot more fun this way than just getting on with the plot. Enjoy!

15 minutes later of explaining later

Mari's POV

"Any more questions?"

I sat on my couch as I watched Alya pace back and forth in my room, absorbing every last bit of information she could pull from me. She got really excited when I told her that 'Ladybug' healed me when she had aqua powers, nearly forgetting I had a tail. She suddenly stopped and turned to me, her face still clearly excited that I'm a mermaid.

"Ok, one more question, if touching water is how you transform, what are you gonna do if you accidentally spill some on you ore something else happens?"

I opened my mouth to speak, but then she gasped louder and continued with another question.

"What if it rains?! What will you do? How will you manag-"

"ALYA! CALM DOWN! I called you in the first place because I didn't know what to do. I mean, what will I do for the cruise tomorrow?! I'm so not ready for this..."

I put my elbows on my knees and my face in my hands. I took a deep breath, trying to compose myself as I heard Alya, 'crying?' I look up and realize she is trying hard not to laugh. I try to defend myself, but she hold up her and and begins to attempt to speak.

"Mari...Did you read NONE of my texts? There was a storm coming in, so the cruise was postponed for another week. I tried to get ahold of you earlie-"

"It's postponed?! That's the best news I have heard all day!"

Alya rolled her eyes and continued. "I was trying to tell you, but you wouldn't pick up your phone. What were you doing all afternoon?"

I suddenly freaked out in my head and said the quickest excuse I could come up with. "I was making a swimming suit for the cruise!" I mentally face-palmed myself, waiting to her what Alya would say.

"But, you have a tail, you can't wear one. Unless you were making a mermaid swimsuit?"

"Well...I was making a normal one, them I remembered my situation and freaked out. My mental head told me to tell you about my situation, so I wouldn't go insane." 'Wow, That excuse actually didn't suck' Then an idea popped into my head.

"Hey Alya, since I can't wear it and you like Ladybug, wanna have the suit?"

Since I am a lazy person, Alya was informed about Adrien knowing and how he found out. The only one clueless in Nino. Also, Adrien and Nino began sitting with Alya and Marinette at lunch the week of the cruise, just because I said so.

At school, during lunch, 2 days before the cruise

Adrien's POV

Alya, Nino, Marinette and I all sat around a table, eating our lunches. I sighed as I opened my lunch in a brown paper sack, already knowing what was packed inside of it. A salad, and apple, and a bottle of water. Marinette was sitting next to me and gasped when she saw what I had for lunch.

"The same thing for every single lunch?!"

I sigh in reluctance. "Yeah, my Father keeps me on a strict modeling diet."

Alya got furious. "Model or not, you should control your own life! Your nearly 18!"

Nino had to hold her back and talk to her to calm down. "Alya, it's fine, don't get too worked up over it." Nino, turned to me after calming down Alya. "Dude, you should be at least able to eat. You're a twig!"

I was about to say something back to Nino, but then Marinette grabbed her school bag and dramatically set it down on the table. I look over at her in confusion.

"What's that for Marinette?"

Alya nearly jumped up in excitement. "Yes! It's Pastry Wednesday!"

"What's Pastry Wednesday?"

Alya looked at me in shock, the began to explain so fast, I nearly didn't catch what she was saying. "Everywednesdayherdadhasleftoverpastriesthattheycan'tsellandtheyalltastesogoodandamazin-"

Marinette glared at Alya. "Alya! He can't even understand a word your saying!"

Marinette then turned to me. "So, um, Adrien, my dad can't legally sell pastries that are over a week old, so he makes new ones every Wednesday and sends the older ones to school with me. They're perfectly fine to eat, they just can't be sold at the stor-"

Alya reached out for the bag of sweets. "And they taste sooo good!" Mari smacked her hand and she pulled it away. "Nope! Adrien gets first pick, he hasn't ever tried them before and he has a crappy lunch."

Marinette opened the bag and an assortment of treats were inside. I closed my eyes and reached in for a random. I pulled out a container, with some sort of multi-flavor cake in it.

Nino gasped. "You got lucky! Those ones are good!

Marinette pointed to the layers of cake and began explaining.

"That one is a duo-cheesecake. The top of the cake is a fruit flavor, the bottom is a cheese flavor."

"What's the flavors for this one?"

"Um, actually I don't know. They are all make with the same base colors, so it's always a mystery. Eat it before you starve or someone else does." She coughed in her elbow. *cough* Nino and Alya *cough*

The couple stared down at Marinette while I laughed. Marinette began serving the treats to Nino and Alya while I opened mine up. I took a bite of the top of my cheesecake and hummed in satisfaction. 'Strawberry is soo good!' I finished of the fruity layer by the time Marinette, Nino, and Alya were beginning to eat theirs. I stared down, reluctant to eat the second half, partly because I wasn't too much of a cheese fan, partly because it was very filling. Alya noticed my hesitation and pointed at the cake.

"Hey Adrien, are you going to eat that?"

Mari glared at her. "Alya, stop being so greedy and finish your treat first!" Then Marinette turned to me. "Don't worry, you can take it home. The cheesecakes are always filling." She reached in her bag to grab another lid while I took off a small piece of the cheesecake to try it. I didn't even have to put it in my mouth and I guessed what cheese it was.

'Camembert. It had to be Camembert.'

I set the fork down as she turned around and gave me a lid. "Don't worry about returning the dish, I've got plenty." I took the lid, covered the pastry, and put it in my school bag, not wanting to be rude and throw it away. When I sat back up in my seat, we all began to chat about meaningless things, until I heard someone I dreaded.

"Adri-kinssss!"

Well, at least there is something to look forward to? (If anything, looking forward to smack Chloe for ruining the Adrinette moment) I still got that AP test coming around the corner but after that, I am pretty much done for school. Until the online, summer classes take place.....
