Chapter 15: Heat of the moment.

You woke up pretty early in the morning. You sat up as you yawned, basking in the sunlight that was screening through your window curtains.

As you began to feel more awake. Your eyes widened as well as your smile. Today is the big day, you supposed.

You began to dress yourself up into more comfortable yet flexible clothes because you were sure you're going to be dragged by Dipper later.

In excitement you almost skipped breakfast if it wasn't for the loud grumbling of your stomach mixed with Mabel's persistence.

Finally, you and Dipper met at the entrance of the shack. Without another word, the both of you went to trek inside the woods. Dipper had his nose on his journal while you just tightened your grip on the straps of your duffle bag.

It was quiet, but not the kind of quiet you expected. You thought everything would be going smooth as butter, but so far, he haven't said a word yet.

It was kind of bothering you.

The two of you stopped walking for a bit, landing at the middle of the forest and began to devise a plan. You crouched down to observe some weirdly colored flowers while Dipper still had his eyes focused on the book.

You huffed. "So," you attempted to strike a conversation with him. "Penny for your thoughts?"

Dipper sharply brought his book down and looked at you. "Um... it's nothing," he stuttered out. You raised an eyebrow in confusion but he just waved it off and showed you a page from his journal.

"What's that thing?" You said as you slowly stood up from your position and studied the huge drawing of a creature.

"That is a Gremoblin. It's sort of a hybrid between a gremlin and a goblin so, yeah..."

"Okay... we're going to catch it?"

"Yeah- uh, maybe we'll just get to observe its nature and purpose to this world and maybe find out their weakness?" He pointed at the author's writings. "It says here that if you look into its eyes, you're going to see your worst fears."

"Where?" You stood beside him and read the papers.

Dipper tensed, feeling your breathing near him. Your faces were so close...

You seemed to realize it too, because your face turned red and instantly retracted your head and stood up straighter.

Interrupting the awkward silence was a loud growl. "There it is! Come on, Y/n!" You didn't know if you were thankful about the creature disturbing your awkward encounter or angry because it ruined a potential opportunity.

Nonetheless, Dipper's hand on yours felt warm and soft as he pulled you along towards what he thought was the creature they were talking about.

Dipper found a bush you could hide in. He immediately pushed you down and pulled apart the leaves, seeing the said monster in his own world.

You were both aware that you shouldn't make any noise, but it was getting difficult to do it when your crush is literally in your personal space. There weren't many vacant spaces inside the small shrub but this was the best place you could all do; it was a safe distance, one where you could observe without it seeing you.

That's where you're wrong.

All of a sudden, you heard a loud beeping coming from the two of you. It was a new message. You and Dipper gapped when the monster turned its head to the noise and saw two humans spying it.

"Run!" Dipper exclaimed and the both of you quickly stand up and went to run, but the Gremoblin was already at your toes.

You thought you'd have a chance to escape but you were wrong. Very, very wrong.

The creature grabbed your arm and lifted you high. You dangled and stuggled in its grasp, even attempted to punch its sickly and scaly hand that was holding your arm. You have no chance against it.

"Let go of her!" Dipper yelled but it fell deaf on big Gremoblin ears. Suddenly, its eyes glowed yellow. He called your name frantically. "Don't look into its eyes!"

You immediately covered your eyes with one hand even though its tempting. But you didn't falter. You didn't want to see your worst fears. Not today.

What you didn't expect was when you were thrown to the sky, making you scream. It caught you, however you were now held with both large hands, and it felt suffocating as ever. "Dipper," you called. "Help!"

Meanwhile, the boy is constructing strategy upon strategy in order to save you. In the end, he went for the last idea he had come up with. He instantly searched for his bag for something reflective. Nothing.

He cursed inwardly. He should've known to bring a mirror when it comes it hunting monsters like the Gremoblin.

He then noticed a bag similar to his and didn't hesitate to raid it. There wasn't a mirror but there was a phone. He opened it and saw Mabel's recent message. So that's where the beeping came from. Dipper ignored the message and opened the front camera.

He held the cell in his hands and called the monster with his hand on the side of his mouth. "Hey!" The creature looked at him briefly. Dipper didn't waste his time and showed him the front camera.

The beast was confused at first, thinking it was another Gremoblin right in front of him. It began using its glowy eyes to exert dominance, but jokes on him, he used it on himself.

You realized that by doing that, it saw its own set of fears. Its eyes is on the verge of tears as its whole body began to shake. You weren't aware that it's going to have a huge tantrum until your whole body shook up and down, left and right. "Let her go!" You heard Dipper shout.

It did let you go. Just not the way the two of you wanted. Your back hit the huge tree, knocking the breath out of you. You were sure a few of your ribs were fractured and cracked. You fell to the ground with a grunt, and Dipper didn't hesitate to run towards you and check for your injuries. Well, you wanted to point out your broken ribs, but apparently you were too weak to do so.

"Y/N!" Dipper had exclaimed.

You groaned. "Dipper."

"Oh my gosh, Y/N, are you okay? Wait- that's a stupid question, of course you're not. But are you going to be okay?"

"Y-yeah," you stuttered out. "Dipper," you called him again. Wordlessly, he scooted next to you to hear you better. "What if I told you I like you too?"

Dipper's eyes widened. "W-wait, did you actually hear what I told you that night? Y/N, I can explain-"

"Shh. Be quiet, Dipper." You placed a quivering finger on his lips. "The important things right now is for you to know that I like you, Dipper. Like... like like, okay?"

"A-are you saying this because you're having a concussion right now or you actually like me?"

Dipper was panicking. He couldn't believe a word coming from you. He wasn't sure if you're trying to tell the truth, but from the looks of it, you are having a concussion.

"You don't believe me? Fine." You placed both of your hands on his face and smashed your lips against his. It was chaste and short, but it was enough to send both of your hearts into a frenzy.

You pulled away, seeing his dumbstruck face. He was frozen, suddenly making you nervous. What if his feelings for you suddenly changed-

"I for sure know that you are having a concussion and I need to take you to the hospital, but Y/N, can we do that again please?"

You slowly felt yourself smile at Dipper's awkward rambling. The both of you stared for a moment, and you leaned forward again, before feeling your middle cracking again. You winced, making Dipper flinch back.

"Okay, take me to the hospital-"

"I'm seriously taking you to the hospital."
