Chapter 13: Oh No?
The next morning, you woke up with pillows surrounding you. You stretched and yawned. As you did, you tried to remember what happened last night.
The makeover, the movies...
Your eyes widened. Your posture suddenly became straighter when you remembered what you heard from Dipper.
"I like you, Y/N."
You then blushed like crazy.
You were happy, so happy. He likes you back!
But, wait. Your subconscience spoke, as if trying to tell you something. What if he is only using you as a rebound? Mabel told him that she has a list of rebound crushes. What if you were in her list?
Before thinking of anything else, you got up from the sofa and went to your room. You brought the essentials to the bathroom, eager to get refreshed, hopefully to throw the thoughts away.
You brushed your hair. Maybe I didn't hear it correctly? I was half asleep, after all.
"Good morning," you greeted the old codger, the bubbly girl, and your adorable crush. You tried to act cool and normal, but the thought still haven't left your mind. Dipper freaking told you he likes you! "Pancakes? Yum!" You said out of nowhere, making a fool of yourself.
Mabel only noticed your uneasiness. "Are you okay?"
"I'm fine! Totally." You laughed as you easily dodged the question by sitting down and quickly munching the food. Mabel will take the sign that you are busy eating, so she won't bother you.
Stan left a message as he headed to the bathroom. "Sheesh. You're just as worst as Dipper. The kid was sweating all morning."
You turned your head to the said boy, your eyebrows raising. He was sweating bullets. He was avoiding your gaze as he silently ate his own plate of pancakes.
The room was quiet. Too quiet.
You glanced at Mabel, hoping for some kind of explanation, but she was surprisingly reading a magazine. Wow. Mabel, reading?
Eventually, Dipper broke the silence by lifting his plate up and placed it in the sink. He was looking everywhere but in your direction as he sprinted to the exit.
When he was finally gone, you leaned close to the other brunette, who had her nose close to the colorful pages of the silky magazine. "Okay, speak up. Why is he avoiding me?"
"I don't know," she said, shrugging. "I'm really sensing some tension here." Mabel smirked as she laid the papers down. "Did something happen last night?"
Your cheeks turned red. "No! Ugh, Mabel."
Mabel narrowed her eyes. "Huh. Thought something would."
"Why would you think so?"
She sighed. "Y/N, as much as I love you right now, I can't tell you."
"Why not?!" You pleaded, lightly slapping the table.
"Because! I wanted this to be special for you, and I don't want to spoil it!"
"You don't make any sense."
Mabel groaned in response. "You'll know it, I promise you."
Your eyebrow raised in suspicion. She knows something you don't, and it seems to be about you. You were about to find out.
Little did you know, someone heard the entire conversation, and it was the sweaty boi himself. When it seemed that your conversation was getting nowhere, he bailed himself out and went to his room.
He slammed the door shut and slapped his forehead so hard, it can be heard as a loud clap.
He swallowed thickly. You can't find out that he basically confessed to you that he likes you. Worried began to flood in Dipper's mind. He was anxious that he was sweating buckets. He admitted to himself that he did not sweat this hard before.
He then blamed himself for doing that when she was asleep, not fully knowing if she was truly awake or not.
You should've kissed her.
Dipper shook his head roughly. Ugh. Stop! He scolded himself, doing that would be absurd! His throat dry, he decided to get a glass of cold water.
He hesitantly stepped out of the door and glanced at your door. It was closed, maybe you were busy, but he almost didn't care. He needed to be hydrated.
Dipper thought that the coast was clear so he made a run for it. He entered the kitchen, and he thought it was safe...
...until he saw you.
You just finished drinking your own glass of water when you saw him as well. Dipper tensed with the eye contact. You kept eye contact when you put the cup down, but with the loss of sight, you misplaced it, causing it to drop to the floor. It made a loud noise. Good thing it was plastic.
You and Dipper flinched. You hastily picked up the cup and held it with a tight grasp. "Hey,"
"H-Hi." Dipper breathed. His lips began to dry. "Wh-what... what are you doing h-here?"
You gestured at the cup you were holding. "I just wanted to drink... you know- water."
You wanted to scream for how awkward the atmosphere was.
And you were sure that Dipper wants to do the same.
As you slowly walked at the exit, he made a run for it and reached for a new cup. He quickly pour a glass and drank it, not stopping at all. You watched him, confused.
"Are you ok-"
"Yes, I'm fine!" Dipper cut you off. He raced you at the exit until he was out of sights.
You stared at the place he just been before he was suddenly gone. He was really acting weird, and you think you knew why.

You were sitting on the couch. The very couch the two of you sat on last night. The night when you thought you misheard him.
Did he really say that?
You gave up. "Hmm. Nevermind. Maybe I'm just hallucinating because I'm tired." You yawned once more.
You couldn't think straight, so you might as well give up. "Maybe I was sleep-deprived, or I was dreaming."
You then saw Mabel coming down the stairs, probably planning to watch TV. She looked at you and smiled, taking a seat next to you. Before she could pick up the remote, you grabbed her wrist.
"Woah, Y/N," Mabel said, confused. "What's happening?"
It's better to just tell her the truth. "I think Dipper likes me."
Her eyes widened as you let go of her. "Oh, my gosh! How did you know?"
You shushed her, afraid anyone would hear her outburst. "Last night, I fell asleep on his shoulder." You ignored her squeal. "He thought I was asleep- well, I was asleep- but then I woke up to him saying that he likes me."
"Oh my goodness! He finally told you! Something did happen last night." She surprisingly kept her voice down.
"Wait, he told you?"
Mabel chuckled. "Nope. I just knew he would. I've been shipping you guys from the start, remember?"
"What should I do?"
"Well," she faced you completely. "Considering you didn't know he confessed, do you want to keep it that way? Or should you also tell him that you like him?"
You came up with nothing. "Er... I don't know. Yes?"
"You should think about it, Y/N," Mabel laughed. "I can't wait how it will turn out!"
The clock suddenly rang. Work time. You sighed in your seat and bid the girl good bye.
You walked inside the gift shop, already seeing Soos sweeping the floor as he sang a tune.
Wendy caught your eye. She was flipping through her daily magazine, How to Avoid Eye Contact. You proceeded to sit on the barrel next to the counter
"Hey," you said.
Wendy placed her magazine down. "Hey, Y/N. Missed ya."
"We just saw each other yesterday, you weirdo."
"You're the weirdo." Wendy chuckled as you smiled. "Say, you wannna... tell me something..? About last night?"
Your eyebrows raised. "What? What about last night?"
"Oh, you know." Wendy's eyes trailed over the entire room. The two of you were the only ones left. "About the moment when Dipper told you he likes you?"
"What the heck?!" You exclaimed. "How did you know that?"
"Mabel texted me." She showed you her phone with Mabel's text, all in caps. You gaped. How did she text her so quickly right after you left? "How did you feel?"
You shook your head, not questioning Mabel's skills. She's that good. "How do I feel? I-I... good, I guess?"
"You guess?"
"I don't know!" You shouted. "It was so unexpected. I was shocked."
"Why?"
"Because..." you paused. "One day, he has a crush on you then the next... he suddenly told me he likes me. It's so weird I'm not sure if he even meant it."
Wendy thought for a moment. She hummed. "Well, what if he always liked you from the start?"
"Huh?"
"I mean. I think Dipper always thought you were cool... but I went in the way. Like I was cooler."
You glared at her. "You're not helping."
"I'm just saying! What if the moment I friendzoned him, he suddenly saw you in a different light? Like when he forgot me-"
"How can he forgot you?" You cut her off. "You're beautiful, cool- you're just... everything that I'm not."
"Y/N," she cut you off. "This isn't about me. This is about you and Dipper, remember? We're different people." She touched your shoulder. "You may say that you're not smart but whenever there's trouble, you always knew what to do. You never give up, and you always have a plan. You're determined, plus you're pretty. If I was a boy, I would definitely date you."
"But you're not Dipper."
"Might I remind you that 'said boy' indirectly told you that he likes you?" Wendy quoted with the fingers.
You went silent. She hummed with pride as she knew that you had to agree with her statement.
You sighed in defeat. "So what should I do?"
"You have two choices; one, ignore him for the rest of your life until he makes the move, two, tell him that you reciprocate his feelings."
"Ugh! That's exactly what Mabel told me!"
"Well, those are the only cards you could play." Wendy shrugged.
You groaned once more. "I'll just wait 'til tomorrow."
"Sure. But I'll be here whenever you need me, okay?"
