5 - Falling In More Ways Than One
Day 4, Week 1 - Thursday
"Luci get your lazy ass up, we're gonna be late."
"Shut up Michael I'm sleeping."
"Obviously not if you can reply."
"There's a magical thing called sleep talking."
Michael just glared and then grabbed Lucifer by the foot, dragging him out of the bed and onto the floor. Lucifer groaned as he hit the floor, and then opened his eyes wearily.
"You suck," he muttered.
"You'd like that wouldn't you," Michael said, smirking.
Lucifer just glared at him before standing up. "What exactly are we doing today?"
"Going to the rock climbing facility," Michael said, stretching. "Not far from here. You know it, we went last year."
"Are you sure that's safe?"
"Just coz you can't climb a damn wall."
"Yeah well—"
"Don't make a dirty joke out of that, I know what you're thinking."
Lucifer rolled his eyes.
"Anyway," Michael said, walking out of the room and raising his voice so Luci could still hear him. "I'm going to go get everyone gathered. Try not to be late."
"Wouldn't dream of it," Lucifer said. Really he wouldn't. Why? Well, have you ever been the belayer for someone during rock climbing? Interesting view if you look up...And well, Michael and Lucifer always did it together.
(For anyone who doesn't know, the belayer is the person who's on the ground with the rope, basically will stop the climber falling to their death)
~~
"Dean come on," Cas said, looking at the older boy refusing to leave the room. "It's just rock climbing."
"Mike and Luce will understand," Dean said, through gritted teeth. "I'm not going."
"You said they made you go last time," Sam said quietly.
"Yeah. But I didn't climb."
"Then don't climb this time," Cas said. "You're not allowed to stay here. Why don't you want to go anyway?"
Both Sam and Dean looked at Cas, Dean looking ashamed.
"Never mind, let's just go," Dean said. He walked out of the room, leaving Sam and Cas to follow. Gabe had already gone ahead.
They walked to the group of people already waiting. There was maybe 30, 40 people, everyone who was at the camp. Well except for the staff who didn't really do anything other than cook.
Michael was waiting, counting everyone. He saw Dean and walked over.
"No screaming this time?" he asked, smirking slightly. Dean went red and looked away.
"What do you have against rock climbing Dean?" Cas asked, tilting his head in the adorable confused way. Not that Dean thought that was adorable. I mean, he's straight people.
"I...don't do well with heights," Dean muttered.
"Ohh," Cas said. "Well I'll stay with you by the side lines. We can make fun of Sam and Gabriel."
"Why would we make fun of Sam?" Dean said, narrowing his eyes slightly.
"Okay fine, Gabriel," Cas said. Dean smiled.
Lucifer finally came running over, hair all messed up which left Michael stuttering like an idiot. Dean and Gabriel saw that and just rolled their eyes. Lucifer didn't notice...idiot. They're all idiots.
Let's follow Michael and Lucifer shall we?
They led the group up to the rock climbing place. It wasn't like indoor rock climbing, it was actual rocks in the side of a mountain. The walk was about 20 minutes, which left the two to have some weird conversations.
"Please for god's sake Lucifer," Michael said, closing his eyes as they all began the walk. "Fix your hair."
"Why, what's wrong with it?" Lucifer asked, putting his hand to his hair.
"It's messy," Michael said. "Please for my sanity, fix it."
"And why would it be bothering you?" Lucifer said, beginning to smirk.
Michael quickly realized his mistake and tried to think of an excuse. "OCD. It has to be neat dammit."
Lucifer sighed, and half patted down hair messy hair. "You're no fun."
"Who's fault is that?" Michael muttered. Lucifer gave him a weird look.
"You've been acting weird today," Luci noted. "You were stuttering before, you're being overly annoyed now..."
"Just tired okay," Michael said.
"Did you sleep okay?" Lucifer said, genuine concern in his voice.
"Yeah, I guess I was just restless," Michael replied. Not exactly a lie. Maybe if Lucifer hadn't fallen asleep next to him on the couch and Michael had to move him to the bed and then freak out internally about what just happened.
"Oh...sorry," Lucifer said, almost sadly? Weird.
"It's fine," Michael said. "Maybe don't fall asleep on me next time."
"Sorry," Lucifer repeated, looking almost hurt. Michael gave him a curious look, but shrugged it off. If only he knew how much his words had just hurt Lucifer.
And now, let's go take a look at how Dean and Cas are doing.
Dean and Cas walked beside each other, Sam and Gabriel in front of them. Gabe was telling Sam some random story about his pranks, and Sam was smiling brightly.
"He hasn't been this happy in ages," Dean muttered to Cas.
"As much as I hate to say it, maybe Gabriel is good for him," Castiel replied.
"Why is that bad?"
"You don't know a thing about Gabriel. He's annoying."
"You're just saying that because he's your brother."
"Yep. Can't I have normal brothers?"
"Now where would be the fun in that?"
Cas smiled. "True. I kinda do love my weird family."
"Hey my families weird too, maybe we can all be one big weird family," Dean said, smiling. And then something flashed across his eyes as if he didn't mean to say that.
"And how would we become one family?" Cas asked, tilting his head.
"Well," Dean said. "I mean. Um. I guess. Someone would have to get married. Um." A blush slowing crept across his cheeks.
"Well Lucifer is obviously going to marry Michael," Cas said, internally smirking as he tried to get the answer from Dean the he wanted. "I doubt you would marry Gabriel, and I wouldn't marry Sam."
"So...Sam and Gabriel?" Dean suggested. Cas internally cursed. So close, yet so far.
"Yeah, if you would let that happen," Cas said, turning to their brothers in front of them. "I mean, I can definitely see it happening."
"I dunno...I kinda saw Sammy with someone more...sophisticated."
"So then what?"
"I guess that leaves us."
Cas internally cheered. Because he was definitely crushing on this Winchester.
"But I'm straight."
Cas mentally stabbed things.
"Wait, Cas, are you straight? Gabriel asked us but you never said anything."
"I'm about as straight as a rainbow slinky," Castiel said.
Dean just laughed slightly. "How'd you figure that out?"
"I dunno, maybe it was the fact that I only ever had boyfriends," Cas said sarcastically. "Or maybe it was something else. Who knows?"
Dean just laughed. And so the walking continued.
So, let's switch perspective yet again to...Sam and Gabriel. Big surprise there.
Gabe had just finished telling Sam another prank story, which Sam couldn't be happier about.
"So Sammy, want to prank our brothers at some point?" Gabe asked, winking. Sam nodded, smiling widely. "Maybe we could also get them together..."
"How would we do that?" Sam asked.
"Well," Gabe said, smiling evilly. "There's that treasure hunt in the forest next week. If we could get them lost together..."
"Isn't that dangerous?" Sam asked.
"All the better for getting them together," Gabe said. Sam gave him a wary look. "Don't worry kiddo, I'll get Michael and Luce in on it so they can stop anything bad from happening."
Sam sighed, but a smile was twitching at the corner of his lips. This stupid golden haired boy was turning everything in his life upside down. Everything had been simple before now, the same things repeated over and over. Now, Sam had no idea what to expect...and he kinda liked it that way.
~~
They got to the rock climbing, which had already been set up because the author can't be bothered making Michael be bothered to set it up.
"Okay," Michael called out to everyone. "Everyone who's been here before, or done rock climbing before, pair up with someone who hasn't. It'll make everything much safer."
"If anyone dies," Lucifer said. "It's your fault, not ours. And seeing as these are real rock walls, look out for the bugs and spiders."
Dean looked at Cas and Gabe. "Either of you done rock climbing before?"
"I have," Gabe said.
"Cool, look after Sammy," Dean said. "I'm just going to go sit over there. And do nothing. The entire time." He walked over and sat down, Cas following him.
"He follows him like an obedient puppy," Gabe said, referring to Cas. "Could he make it any more obvious?"
Sam laughed.
"Well Sammy, wanna climb up a wall? See who can get the highest?"
"Always got make it a competition," Sam said, smiling.
"Well of course," Gabe said, returning the smile. "Now, which part of the wall?" As he said this, he put his arm on Sam's shoulder, leaning on him.
"Gabriel. I am not an armrest."
"Nah you totally are."
"I swear to god I'll kill you."
"Woah Sammy, kinky much?"
Sam just started laughing, not being able to stay serious.
They chose a wall, and Sam went up first, trusting his life to Gabriel who swore he wouldn't drop him. He did say he'd probably drop Dean though. On purpose.
Sam climbed up the wall easily, being able to find a way when it looked like there was none. Gabe was yelling up encouragement, until he realized Sam could beat him. Then he made the rope completely slack.
Sam glared down at Gabriel who just gave him a thumbs up. Sam rolled his eyes and proceeded to make his way to the top of the wall. Well, at least to where the rope was connected to. Gabe let him down safely, and then pretty much bounded up the wall with way too much energy for a human.
Like Lucifer was saying earlier, you ever seen the view when belaying someone? I mean, they're climbing a wall, and you're right below them...
This crossed Sam's mind, and he looked away, trying to make his blush go away.
Gabe made it to the top of the wall too, and then challenged Sam to go up the almost impossible wall. Sam accepted the challenge.
~~
"Yep they're adorable," Lucifer said.
"Who?" Michael asked. "Sam and Gabriel, or Dean and Castiel?"
"Who do you think?"
"Both?"
"Yep."
They were standing off to the side, making sure no one was hurt.
"You going to try it again this year?" Lucifer said.
"Only if you promise to catch me," Michael said. "I almost broke my leg last year."
"You didn't have to climb up the wall without a harness."
"You dared me."
"True."
"Besides, it was a fun adrenaline rush. Hence the doing it again."
"I'll catch you when you fall."
"If, I fall."
"Oh you'll fall all right."
Michael just smirked and walked off to the wall he'd climbed last year without the harness that stopped him falling to his death.
"You'll fall for me," Lucifer muttered. "You will. One day." He walked off after Michael, standing at the bottom to stop Michael's fall if need be.
Michael was surprisingly good at rock climbing. He could lift himself up with almost no effort and had no problem keeping his grip. He got pretty high up on the wall, not too high that Luci wouldn't be able to stop him injuring himself.
"Mike, you're getting to a dangerous height," Luci called up to him.
"Nah I'm fine," Michael called back. By now, other campers had gathered around to watch Michael.
"Luce, enjoying the view?" Dean asked, smirking at Lucifer.
"Oh shut up," Lucifer said.
"Doesn't he know that's not safe?" Cas muttered.
"He does," Luci said. "But he does it anyway."
"Luce!" Michael called. "I think I'm gonna—" He couldn't finish his sentence before his supporting leg gave out and he fell.
Lucifer moved quickly as the other campers gasped, running to where Michael was falling and putting his arms out. Michael, expecting it, moved so he could fall comfortably into Luci's arms. Which ended with Lucifer standing there holding Michael bridal style.
"Thanks," Michael said, letting out a breath.
"I'll always catch you," Luci said with a small smile. Michael returned the smile before moving out of Lucifer's arms.
"I don't not believe you, but you seem like the type to forget I'm up there and walk away," Michael said.
"I..." Lucifer stopped talking before he started talking about how he'd never forget Michael.
Michael waited for the rest of the sentence but shrugged when he realized it wasn't coming. "Anyway, I think it's about time to head back. It's getting late."
"Yeah," Lucifer said, and they started rounding up the rest of the campers.
"Hey," Michael said, suddenly smiling. "Tomorrow's Friday. You got everything planned?"
Lucifer smiled widely. "Yep. It's gonna be awesome."
~~
I wrote one of my longer chapters in an hour, that has to be a new record. Well, I had alota fun writing this :) Actually I have fun writing this entire book, there's so much fluff I can put in.
You know, I realized I literally say the most random things at the end of every chapter I write xD Meh.
I have been watching Marvel movies. And holy shit the trailer for Civil War..."So was I." I died. I literally died. For those who watch those movies, who's side are you on for Civil War? I will always be on Tony's side.
