26 - Until Next Time

Last week, Last day - Friday

Gabriel woke up with Sam in his arms. He didn't move or try to wake anyone else. He only held Sam tighter.

Cas woke up next but also didn't move. Sam and Dean eventually woke up too, but no one made any move to actually get out of bed.

"You can't avoid this," Cas said quietly to Dean. Dean ignored him. Cas sighed and rolled over to face Dean. "Dean. No one here wants this to happen. But what's going to happen if you don't go?"

"I don't care," Dean said, looking at Cas with wide, scared eyes.

"He's right," Sam said quietly. "Dad won't be happy. You know how he'll react to this. Same way he did with mom. He'll think something's happened to us."

"But..." Dean said, letting his voice trail off. He sighed. "You're right. We can't leave him like that."

The four of them looked up suddenly as the door to the room opened. Michael stepped in, looking at them all with sympathy.

"You're going to have to leave soon," Michael said. "It's a long drive right?"

"Yeah," Dean said quietly. "Yeah it is." He sat up, looking sadly down at Cas. Cas just sat up beside him and pulled him into a kiss.

"Gabe?" Sam said, looking at where Gabe was burying his face against Sam. Gabe just shook his head slightly, and Sam could feel him shaking. "Hey come on...it's not forever. We'll find you guys again."

"You can't promise that," Gabe said, moving slightly to look at Sam with wide, vulnerable eyes.

"Gabe come on," Sam said. "I swear okay. I swear I'll find you again. No matter how hard it is, or how long it takes." Gabe just choked back a sound and leaned his head against Sam's.

The four of them got up and out of bed while Michael and Lucifer lingered around. The older two were watching their brothers with concern, seeing how none of them were really dealing well.

"We'll be able to find them again," Michael said to Lucifer. "Right? I mean you did this year."

"Only because of Dean," Luci said. "Their dad said until Dean's too old to go. This is the last year."

"You're satan, can't you do anything?" Michael asked.

"Even I have limits," Luci replied. Michael just sighed, leaning his head onto Luci's shoulder.

Dean and Cas walked out of the cabin first, Dean carrying his bag and holding Cas's hand. They weren't saying anything, but how tightly they were holding on to each other said everything.

Sam and Gabe were still in the cabin. Gabe was trying a little harder not to let Sam go.

"Come on Samantha," he said. "Just...stay with us. Our family won't care about having an extra person."

"Gabe you know I can't," Sam said, trying to pull his bag from where Gabe was holding it protectively. Gabe moved the bag away from Sam's reach.

"Come on at least try," Gabe said. "You're not even trying to stay..."

"Because I know it's hopeless," Sam said. "Gabe, let's not end this on an argument okay? You're going to have to let me go."

Gabe looked at Sam with this look of such helplessness and fear, Sam's heart almost broke at the sight.

"Okay," Gabe said finally. He didn't sound happy about it, and he was avoiding eye contact. "Okay. But you swore. And I'll hold you to that for as long as I live."

Sam smiled softly. "I'm counting on it," he replied. Gabe gave him a sad smile, before picking up Sam's bag.

"I'm carrying this because I'm a nice person like that," he said and Sam chuckled. They walked out the door of the cabin to where everyone else was waiting.

"You guys ready?" Michael asked.

"I'll never be ready," Gabe muttered, but nodded.

The six of them started walking to the path by the side of the camp, the one that led down the rest of the hill to the undercover carpark they had there. They were walking in pairs with their boyfriends, no one wanting to leave the other for a second. Except Mike and Luci because they weren't leaving each other. But they still stayed side by side.

They eventually reached the carpark where the Impala was waiting. There'd originally been more cars at the start of camp, but most of those were gone now. There's was only Gabe's and Michael's now.

"Oh Baby how I've missed you," Dean said, walking over to his Impala. He looked like he was going to hug it for a second before remembering what this meant. He looked down sadly before walking to the trunk and putting his bag in, Gabriel passing him Sam's to put in.

"Wait guys," Michael said suddenly. "I forgot something. Don't leave until I'm back okay?" He ran off back to the camp without another word.

"Right then," Luci said, watching his boyfriend go. "So...how are you guys?"

"Satan's asking us about feelings?" Gabe said sourly. "Wow must be bad then..."

"Come on Gabe," Sam said quietly, walking over to Gabe and putting his arms around his neck, forcing Gabe to focus on him. "Remember what I said okay? I swore."

Gabe just touched his forehead against Sam's, closing his eyes.

"Cas?" Dean said, his voice cracking.

"Yeah Dean, I'm here," Cas said, moving to Dean's side. "Hey...come on you had a whole plan figured out about finding us remember?"

"A plan with an endless amount of ways to fail," Dean muttered. Cas sighed. He reached up to pull Dean into a soft kiss, not knowing how else to comfort him.

"Hey Sam," Gabe said. "Promise me something else would ya?"

"Anything," Sam said.

"Don't go quiet again," Gabe said. "And don't let them get to you like that."

Sam smiled softly. "Yeah I promise Gabe. Only if you promise me that you'll try and do something with your life. Like actually go to college, okay?"

"Yeah," Gabe said. "When I figure out what course to do, I will." Sam smiled and pulled Gabe down into a kiss. Gabe pulled back a second later. "Are you getting taller kiddo?"

"I don't think so, I still feel short," Sam said. Gabe chuckled before ruffling Sam's hair to Sam's annoyance.

"Oh hey so," Dean said. "I know that it's a long shot because Dad probably won't want us talking to you guys, but you should at least have our phone numbers. Don't get your hopes up though."

Cas nodded, and pulled out a pen seeing as none of them actually had their phones at the time. Dean recited his phone number from memory, Sam's too, and Cas wrote them down on his hand.

Cas then took Dean's hand and wrote down an address on there. "That's where we'll be," Cas said. "I hope."

Dean nodded. "I'll go there. Definitely."

Michael suddenly came back, holding a small envelope. "Okay so all the photos you guys took...I got them all printed, a copy for each family." He passed the envelope to Dean, who looked inside to see on top the photo of him and Cas asleep in a bed together. He gave a sad smile before opening the car door to put it safely inside.

"Thank you Michael," Dean said and Sam nodded in agreement.

"No problem guys," Michael said. "So I guess...this is goodbye."

"No," Cas said. "Not goodbye. It's just until next time. Because there'll be a next time."

Dean smiled at Cas. "I'm going to miss you."

"I know," Cas said, smiling back at Dean. "I can tell. I'll miss you too."

"Yeah who am I going to get to read other peoples actions?" Dean said teasingly and Cas just chuckled, leaning against Dean. "Hey Cas?"

"Yeah?"

"I don't think either of us are ready to say it," Dean said. "So here's a promise. When I see you again...I'll tell you I love you."

Cas made a choked up sound and nodded, his eyes threatening to fill with tears. Dean pulled him in close to his chest for a hug.

"So now I have to find you again because I'm not dying without saying those words," Dean said quietly to Cas.

Cas pulled away slightly so he could lean back in and kiss Dean gently. A goodbye kiss.

Gabe was looking at Sam with that same scared look and Sam almost couldn't bare to look.

"Gabriel," he said, using Gabe's full name like he hadn't in ages. "Thank you."

"For what kiddo?" Gabe said quietly as if his voice would break if he spoke too loud.

"Giving me back my happiness," Sam said with a soft smile. "I'd still be antisocial and depressed if it weren't for you."

"Any day kiddo," Gabe said with a smile. He pulled Sam into a kiss, lingering there for longer than either of them normally would. "Remember your promises kiddo."

"You too," Sam replied, pressing one last kiss to Gabe's lips. He reluctantly pulled away then, walking to the passenger side of the car as Dean got into the drivers seat.

"For the record," Dean said. "And I think I speak for me and Sam here. If I had to choose between the pain of leaving or never falling in love in the first place...I'd choose this. Always." Those words broke Cas and he wasn't able to stop a tear from falling.

Gabe put an arm around Cas's shoulders as Dean gave him a pained look from inside the car.

"Dean," Lucifer said. "See you next summer. Or I will hunt you down. Look I'll even save that cabin for you guys." Dean gave him and Michael a sad smile.

"I'm not going to say goodbye," Gabe said. "Because Cas is right. Until next time Winchester's. Until next time."

With no more words to be said less someone break down into tears, Dean started the car, and taking one last look at each other and the ones they'd come to love, Sam and Dean drove away in the Impala, leaving the camp behind them.

1 day since the end of camp

Castiel and Gabriel weren't happy. At all. They helped Michael and Lucifer pack up the rest of the stuff at camp, moving out of their cabin because the memories were already too much.

Michael would try to comfort them, but knew there was no way he could fix this. Lucifer would always just try to lighten the mood. The two of them tried not to be as couply around their brothers because they knew it would hurt them.

Most of the day was spent in silence. Neither Cas nor Gabe wanted to talk about how they were feeling. Neither wanted to admit just how much this was hurting.

~~

2 days since the end of camp

Michael and Lucifer, Gabriel and Castiel, they all took their things down to their two cars. Michael and Lucifer said goodbye to the younger two, knowing for sure that they'd see them again soon, especially when the rest of the Novak's found out about Michifer.

Gabe and Cas said goodbye but they both still had that darkness behind their eyes.

"Hey you two," Michael said as they were about to leave. "Look I get that it hurts. But don't let it ruin your life. You've still gotta live."

"What if we don't want to live without them?" Gabe asked.

"Then live for the reason of finding them," Michael replied. "Just don't let this take away everything you have."

Cas and Gabe said nothing because they knew Michael was right.

The four of them finally left the camp.

The camp was empty now. Their cabin was empty. The memories from their summer had been taken with them...but how long would they last?

After all, it was only a summer dream.
