23 - Starry Night

Last Week, Day 23 of 26 - Tuesday

Most of Tuesday was spent sleeping. Gabe pointed out when they woke at their usual time that they didn't have to get up because there was nothing to do.

After that, Sam snuggled back against Gabe and fell asleep again. He drifted in and out of sleep for the next few hours, shifting occasionally in Gabe's arms.

He was nudged awake later by Gabe, who was lying on his side facing him.

"Heya kiddo," Gabe said with a smile. "You looked peaceful, I wasn't going to wake you, but that was three hours ago."

"Have you been watching me sleep for three hours?" Sam asked.

"Nah I went back to sleep again," Gabe said, rolling onto his back to stretch his arms back. "Sleeping in is one of the best things ever created."

"Too bad we haven't been doing it," Sam said, rolling onto his stomach and propping himself up on his elbows to look down at Gabe. Gabe smiled before messing up Sam's hair. Sam smiled and rolled his eyes, before sitting up to look at the time.

"It's three in the afternoon," he said incredulously. "How did that happen?"

"We slept?" Gabe said, sitting up beside Sam and wrapping an arm around his stomach. Sam leaned back against Gabe on instinct.

"Yeah okay I'm hungry," Sam said. "Let's get food."

Gabe chuckled softly and the two of them got out of bed.

Cas and Dean were up already, although they'd only gotten up a few hours ago. The actual campsite was pretty much deserted other than the few people leaving the next day. That was because Michael and Lucifer always said they'd have to help with the pack up if they stayed, but really they just wanted some more time with the fun people.

They walked up to the hall in search of food, and found nothing.

"Want to raid the kitchen?" Gabe asked with his signature smirk and eyebrow wiggle. Sam laughed while nodding.

They crept over to where the food always seemed to come from and walked through the door. To find nothing.

"What." Gabe said.

"How is this an empty room?" Sam said. "There's not even a kitchen."

"Magic!" Lucifer yelled in the distance. He appeared a few moments later. "So much easier to just snap things into existence."

"Luce I swear to Chuck," Michael said, glaring at Luci.

"Oh you can't do anything about it," Luci said. "Otherwise you would've by now."

"Only because there are kids around," Michael said. "When we get off this camp, I swear I'll—"

"Oh I believe you already promised me something," Luci said with a smirk. Michael blushed a dark red while spluttering.

"I don't need to hear this," Gabe said, grabbing Sam's hand and pulling him from the empty kitchen room. "Luci feed us."

"Feed yourself," Luci said.

"How?"

"With that never ending candy stash of yours."

"The rabbit needs his rabbit food," Gabe said, gesturing to Sam.

(I can't call him a moose, he's not tall enough xD )

"Go outside, all the leaves and grass you could ever want," Luci said.

"Dude you are not feeding my boyfriend grass."

"No I won't. You're the one who's supposed to feed him."

Gabe rolled his eyes before looking over at where the kitchen was and saw some sandwiches just sitting there.

"I'm not going to question that," Gabe said, taking a sandwich.

"They could be poisoned," Sam pointed out, but took a sandwich anyway.

"Says the person eating one," Gabe said with a smirk as Sam took a bite. Sam rolled his eyes.

"Oh cool food," Dean said, because he's apparently here too now, and took a sandwich.

"And now we wait for the choking and dying," Luci said.

"What no, you're not supposed to kill your family," Michael said.

"Oh oops," Luci said. "Okay there, I took the poison out." Michael gave him an exasperated glare.

"I don't even question you two anymore," Dean said, watching the conversation.

"Good because if you knew the truth we'd have to actually kill you," Michael said.

"Woah Mikey, those are my brothers you're talking about."

"Oh so it's okay when you do it, but I can't?"

"Not until we're married hon. Then they're family."

"Did you actually just call me hon?"

"Yep."

"Don't tell me this is the start of a never ending list of pet names."

"Aww baby you know you love it."

"This is bordering on gross," Gabe said, looking between the two. "Please stop before I have to carve my eyes out."

"Technically you'd have to cut your ears off," Cas said.

"Specifics," Gabe said, shrugging.

That night, when the sun had gone down, since they had all slept in for so long none of them were tired. So what did they do?

Ran around the camp like idiots.

It was going to happen eventually.

"I don't see why we're doing this," Cas said as Dean ran along holding his hand.

"Because it's damned fun," Dean said with a childish smile on his face. "Okay we need to find Sam and Gabe."

"Why?"

"Because at some point we agreed to play hide and seek in the dark with them."

"Why?"

"Because we thought it would be a good idea."

"Why?"

"Dude I don't know. Shut up and help me find them."

Cas chuckled slightly and he could tell Dean rolled his eyes in the darkness.

"Aren't we supposed to find Mike and Luci as well?" Cas asked.

"They're probably making out somewhere, I'm not sure I want to."

"And Sam and Gabe wouldn't be?"

"What dude no that's my little brother you're talking about just no why I didn't need that mental image you cruel sadistic idiot."

Cas was laughing now and Dean glared at him in the darkness, before tackling him to the ground and starting to tickle him.

"That's what you get for laughing," Dean said as Cas starting begging him to stop while still laughing. "I dunno Cas, you sound like you're having fun."

"No please Dean stop," Cas said, trying to catch his breath while laughing. Dean ignored him and kept tickling him, holding Cas on the ground with his knees so Cas wouldn't kick him away.

"Deeeaaaaannn," Cas whined, trying to stop laughing. Dean was smirking evilly and Cas just pouted up at him as he stopped. "That's it I'm not kissing you anymore." Dean gave Cas a shocked and hurt look.

"I'm sorry Cas, forgive me," Dean said, moving off of Cas.

"Nope too late," Cas said.

"Cas come on."

"Nope."

"Caaasss."

"No."

"I'll start tickling you again."

Cas glared at Dean before sitting up to pull Dean into a kiss. Dean smiled softly against Cas's lips before pulling away.

"We should probably go find our brothers," Dean said.

"Or we could leave them," Cas replied, glancing down at Dean's lips.

"I'm not leaving Sam alone in the dark with Gabriel. That is like the worst thing I could do."

Cas chuckled before standing and helping Dean up. "Okay, now where would they go?"

Let's go over to Sabriel, shall we?

"How will they not see us here?" Sam asked.

"It's dark," Gabe said. "We're in a bush. It'll work."

"Yeah but how does this work?"

"We are hidden in the shadow of a bush. To them this area will just look completely black. We are one with the shadows Sam."

"That sounds like it could be demonic," Sam said.

"Dude no one will get that reference," Gabe said.

Sam shrugged. "The author couldn't help it."

"Dammit Luci's rubbing off on you."

"Nah he's too busy rubbing off on Michael. In different ways."

Gabe was silent for a moment. "You used to be innocent."

"And then I met you," Sam said with a smirk. "You're not regretting that are you?"

"Oh hell no," Gabe said. "Best thing that ever happened. But you making inappropriate jokes, you're like fourteen."

"Yeah, and what does that say about you?"

"That's only three years difference."

"You'll be an adult next year and it'll count as illegal."

"Oh that's disturbing. That's so weird."

"Yeah."

They were silent for a moment.

"I don't think Dean and Cassie will be able to find us," Gabe said. "I have a better idea." He stood up, crouching low in case Dean and Cas were around. Sam followed his lead as he began running around, hiding around corners and in shadows.

They found Dean and Cas looking in some bushes near a cabin. Gabe smirked and then made a weird animal like sound in his throat. Dean and Cas jumped and looked around.

"There's nothing out there is there?" Cas asked.

"Well...nothing Michael and Luci say is trustworthy," Dean said cautiously.

"So there could be wolves or something," Cas said.

"I mean I have heard them howl at night," Dean said. Gabe smirked more, and grabbed Sam's hand, pulling him a bit of distance away from their brothers.

"Come on Sam," Gabe said. "Let's go take a howl at that moon." He cupped his hands around his mouth and made a loud howling noise at the sky. Sam laughed quietly and then did the same.

They looked back at the now slightly panicked Dean and Cas. Then they walked closer and did it again.

"You know," Cas said, suddenly relaxing. "That's probably just Sam and Gabe."

"Oh for," Dean muttered. "You idjits!"

Gabe and Sam broke down into giggles around the corner of the cabin, and Dean and Cas walked around to glare at them there.

"You know what, whatever," Dean said. "I'm going to bed."

"I'll come," Cas said.

"Woah getting it Cas," Gabe said with a smirk. Cas glared at him. If looks could kill, Gabe would've been killed, resurrected and killed again from that look.

"Well," Sam said, watching the two of them leave. "Now what?"

"I have an idea," Gabe said, grabbing Sam's hand again. He led them up to the hall and climbed up the side onto the roof. Sam followed, and they sat on top of the roof.

"Stars have always looked amazing out here," Sam said, looking up at the sky.

"Exactly," Gabe said. "And they're reflecting in the lake down there."

"If I could take a good photo of this I would," Sam said. "Cameras don't pick up stars very well."

"Better just enjoy the moment then," Gabe said with a soft smile.

"Story of my life," Sam muttered and Gabe's eyes dropped. "Hey ignore that, forget it." Sam laid down on the roof, looking up at the stars. Gabe smiled again and laid beside him, looking up too.

"Never going to forget last time we were sitting under the stars like this," Gabe said quietly.

"You mean when you were awkward as hell?"

"Hey I wasn't that bad."

"You really were."

Gabe glared over at Sam who was smiling teasingly. Gabe smiled slightly before sighing.

"I don't want summer to end."

"I don't think anyone here does," Sam said. "But hey, just because winter's a new season doesn't mean what was made in summer has to disappear. Things'll change but that doesn't mean we have to leave things behind."

"Woah getting deep there Sammy."

"I try."

Gabe chuckled. "Promise me Sam. That you'll try to figure whatever's up with your family, that you and Dean will come find us."

"That's not a promise I know if I can keep," Sam said. "But I'll fight for it." Gabe smiled softly at him.

"Thank you," Gabe said.

Back at their cabin, Dean and Cas were sitting together on their bed.

"You're good at judging peoples characters, right Cas?" Dean asked and Cas nodded. "Can you tell...how we're all going to deal with having to leave?"

"You won't take it very well," Cas said. "You'll probably get angry. Gabe will block it out with other things, Sam will likely try before realizing he can't do much as a teenager and will try to get his life sorted first."

"And you?"

"I'll always try to get us back."

Dean smiled. "I'll miss this," he said softly. "This entire place. The memories."

"Then come back," Cas said quietly, almost as a plea.

"I'll try Cas," Dean said. "I'll try."

Sorry about the almost double wait than usual. If you haven't seen in other books or just me talking in general, yeah I had a weird week. It messed with my head. I'm pretty much normal now, but something else has come up and I'm not really sure how I'm dealing...I'll be good, give it time

Guess what, there's three chapters left :P And a sequel right afterwards.

Hey I have camp this week xD Like, school camp. For three days. Except it's a city camp, up in good old Melbourne. Should be interesting :P
