22 - Camp's Winding Down

Last week, Day 22 of 26 - Monday

When Sam woke, Gabe was already awake. He had his arms wrapped around Sam tightly and didn't loosen them as Sam rolled over to face him.

"Gabe?" Sam said, seeing Gabe looking at him with worried eyes. "What's wrong?"

"It's Monday," Gabe said. "People are leaving. The camp is officially over."

"Don't worry, we're not leaving yet," Sam said, yawning sleepily. "We still have four days."

"Four days Sam. Four. That's not a very long time."

"Guess we'd better make the best of it then," Sam said sadly, sitting up. Gabe sat up beside him, giving him a sad look before his playful persona came back.

"Mike and Luce might let us mess with all the camp activities," he said with a smile. "We never did end up doing archery, did we?"

"I feel like you're not planning to hit the target," Sam said.

"Nope," Gabe said with a smirk. Sam just shook his head with a smile before getting out of bed.

They walked out of the cabin not long after, Dean and Cas already having gotten up and were having breakfast. There were people carrying their luggage away, down to the carpark where they would be picked up or where their car was waiting.

Sam and Gabe both tried to ignore all the people leaving, the constant reminder that they too would have to leave eventually. They walked into the hall where there were a lot of people gathered and saying goodbye to the friends they'd made.

"Well this is depressing," Gabe said as he and Sam sat beside Dean and Cas.

"You don't say," Dean said sourly.

"We're not leaving yet," Cas said.

"Doesn't change the fact that we are leaving," Gabriel said.

"How about," Sam said, "we just make these last few days happy instead of whining about having to leave?"

"I agree with Sam," Cas said. "We can't let that ruin our last days together."

"Trust us to fall in love on a camp with limited time," Dean muttered quietly. Cas caught his choice of words and smiled slightly to himself, a light blush covering his cheeks.

"So," Gabe said. "Anyone want to steal the archery stuff with me?"

"Definitely," Sam said. Dean shared a glance with Cas.

"Eh, why not?" Dean said with a smile. The four of them stood up and ran out of the hall, to where archery was still set up. Michael would probably pack it up later that day.

Gabe ran over and took a bow, throwing it to Sam before grabbing one for himself.

"Now," he said. "How hard can this be?"

"Harder than it looks," Cas said, grabbing a bow and shooting an arrow at the target with dead accuracy. Dean followed and did the same.

"Well how am I supposed to follow that?" Gabe asked. He tried to shoot an arrow. Tried. It bounced off the target and came back, almost hitting poor Cas in the head. "Sorry Cassie."

"Maybe you shouldn't have the potential weapon," Cas said, eyeing the bow in Gabe's hands.

"Oh no, it's fine, Gabe said, smirking. He grabbed a few arrows, before running back off to the camp.

"That's not going to end well," Cas said.

"You think?" Dean said, starting to run off after Gabe, Sam and Cas following.

Gabe was already on a roof when they got to him, shooting arrows at people.

"Gabriel?" Dean said warily. "That's probably dangerous."

"That is definitely dangerous," Cas said.

Sam just climbed onto the roof and stood beside Gabe.

"Sam you used to be the good kid!" Dean yelled up at him. Sam just laughed and passed Gabe another arrow.

This time, he missed the kid running from him. The arrow instead went straight towards someone else. A certain devil we all know and love.

Luci was walking past a cabin and the arrow hit the wall inches in front of him, sticking out of the wood. He blinked for a moment, before slowly turning and facing a very scared Gabriel.

"Shit guys Satan's mad RUN!" he yelled, jumping off the roof and making a run for it into the forest. The other three followed him.

Luci just watched them run off, and when they were gone just started laughing.

"I swear you use your name to your advantage too much," Michael said, standing beside Lucifer.

"It's so fun though," Luci said. "You have to admit it's pretty funny."

"Yeah it is," Michael said with a smile.

The other four ran out of breath pretty quickly and slowed to a halt.

"I think we lost him," Gabe said, breathing heavily.

"I don't think he was chasing us," Cas said.

"Now you tell us?" Dean said. "Are you trying to kill us with exercise?"

"Maybe some exercise would do you some good."

"What are you saying Cas? Are you calling me fat?"

"No, I'm calling you lazy."

"I can admit to that."

"How is Sam not out of breath?" Gabe said, looking at the shorter Winchester. Sam just shrugged innocently, watching the other three with amoosement.

"Unfair human being," Dean muttered, glaring at Sam. Sam just laughed.

"Well," Gabe said. "That was fun. Whatever shall we do now?"

"We still have the bow and arrows," Sam pointed out.

"Cool," Gabe said. "Deano, go stand over there and be our target."

"What no!" Dean said.

"You know my aim sucks," Gabe said, smirking.

"Gabriel please stop trying to kill my boyfriend," Cas said.

"But Caaaass," Gabe whined. Cas just glared before taking the bow from him. Dean sagged in relief before realizing Gabe still had an arrow. Gabe looked at the arrow with interest, looking like he was about to stab someone with it. Dean slowly backed away.

"Yeah Gabe, don't stab my brother," Sam said.

"Fine you guys," Gabe said, before walking over to a nearby try and using the arrow to carve something in it. "I'll be cliché instead." Sam walked over to look at what Gabe was writing. He'd written a messily carved S.W + G.N in a heart into the tree.

"Dean, want to be cliché?" Cas said, giving Dean an arrow. Dean chuckled lightly before walking over to the tree, carving D.W + C.N in a heart into the bark next to Gabe and Sam's initials.

"Oh aren't we just the greatest," Gabe said with a smirk, standing back to look at the tree. "Such creativeness and originality we have here."

"We're the best," Sam said, leaning against Gabe's side.

"I personally think we're very lame," Dean said, looking at the tree. "Wow we are a bunch of lovesick teenagers. I can't believe we really just did that. How could you guys do this to me?"

"Oh it's all Cassie's fault," Gabe said with a smirk. "We had nothing to do with it."

"How could you Cas?" Dean said. "After everything we've done, you turned me into a sappy lovesick teenager."

"Hey it was your choice," Cas said, smiling slightly at Dean.

"If it wasn't for you, I wouldn't have that choice in the first place," Dean muttered.

"Yes but even that was still technically your choice."

"No it wasn't, I can't change how I feel."

"Or maybe you can."

"Cas no. Don't mess with the rules of the universe."

"The author does it, why can't I?"

"She rules this universe okay? She can do what she wants and get away with it."

"The hell are you guys talking about?" Gabe said. "Have you been talking to Lucifer with his weird theories again?"

"They're not just theories," Dean whispered dramatically.

"Yeah I'm leaving before you destroy my mind," Gabe said, turning and walking away and dragging Sam with him.

"None of this is real!" Dean yelled after them. "Maybe this is all just in your head!"

Gabe stopped for a moment. "Nope I refuse to listen to this." He started running and Sam followed.

Cas just looked at Dean. "Maybe you're in a coma. Maybe all of us are just part of your imagination."

Dean looked at Cas. "Why. Why would you say that."

Cas just smirked and started to follow Gabe, a very lost looking Dean following behind him.

"Okay, so how many people do we have left?" Michael asked Lucifer, who had the list of people on the camp and was ticking people off as they left.

"About ten or so," Luci said. "Everyone except the Winchesters and my brothers will be gone by Wednesday."

"Okay," Michael said. They stood in silence for a few moments. "Do you think they'll be okay?"

"Maybe," Luci said. "I mean, they're teenagers, they'll get over it eventually."

"Did we?"

"Good point...well they'll find a way to meet each other again. Outside of this camp."

"I hope so," Michael said.

"Wow you treat them like your own brothers," Luci said.

"They may as well be."

"We're not married yet."

"Yeah but Cas and Gabe are pretty much my brothers anyway, with all the time I spent at your house."

"True," Luci said. "Stop stealing my family."

"Nah. I like them."

"Miiikey why?"

"Because I can."

Luci glared at him and Michael just laughed.

Gabe, Sam, Dean and Cas had come back to the main part of the camp, and were now just sitting on the hill, looking down over the lake.

"This is painful," Gabe muttered.

"We've already been through this," Sam said. "The best we can do is try to make it happy."

Gabe just mumbled under his breath and kicked at the ground.

"You know, I'm going to miss this place," Dean said. "You guys can come back, I can't."

"So what happens if we don't figure out a way we can meet?" Cas said, worry seeping into his voice.

"I don't know Cas," Dean said quietly.

"Well you are all just miserable people," Sam said, rolling his eyes. "Come on, let's do something fun. Race you to the lake?"

Gabe couldn't help but smile at Sam's lame attempt to cheer them, and stood up, running down to the lake with the other three following him quickly.

The six of them were eating dinner later, the room feeling a lot more empty now that most people had left.

"Why did the food suddenly get a lot better?" Gabe asked.

"Because there's a lot less people," Michael said. "The cooks can actually put a bit more effort in. Oh and you get desert this week."

Gabe's eyes lit up at that and Sam chuckled softly to himself.

"When was the last time you had a lollipop?" Cas asked Gabe suddenly. "Are you feeling okay Gabriel?"

"Oh I feel great," Gabe said, pulling a lollipop out of his pocket.

"We're in the middle of dinner," Dean pointed out.

"There's never a bad time for candy," Gabe said, pulling another lollipop out and passing it to Sam.

"I swear if we get home and you have a candy obsession Sam," Dean said. "I'm blaming Gabriel."

"I'm happy to take the blame there," Gabe said as Sam laughed. Dean just sighed with a small smile, being happy for the happiness of his little brother.

They had desert later, and Sam was happy to give his to a very happy Gabriel, and leaned against Gabe as he ate it. Gabe smiled softly at him and pressed a kiss to his forehead.

The four of them went to their cabin as the sun was setting and sat in front of the fireplace for a while.

None of them wanted to go to bed, because when they woke up there would be one less day of the camp left. But time passing was inevitable.

~~

A day late because I was updating another one yesterday...I don't know how that ended up happening but okay :P Got everything back on track now, nothings late. I'm getting a bit more hesitant to write this just because it's nearing the end...

Civil War comes out in two days!!! I'm so excited I literally just can't it's going to be so awesome...

Fun fact. According to my friend I was unusually happy today. Like in a good way, compared to my normal quite tired sometimes miserable self. But yeah, I'm pretty happy recently :)
