21 - Hell of a Summer

Week 3/4, Day 21 of 26 - Sunday

Sam laughed as he watched Gabe sneak up behind Cas and shove him into the lake. Cas turned as he fell, trying to grab for the closet thing and that happened to be Dean, so he pulled Dean with him into the lake.

Gabe walked back over to Sam laughing and high fived him, and then the two of them looked down at their brothers from the pier.

"Seriously guys?" Dean said, looking down at his soaked clothes as he surfaced. Cas surfaced beside him, glaring at Gabriel.

Gabe just shrugged, standing a safe way from the edge of the pier.

It was the last official day of the camp. People could leave at any point during the next week, and there weren't necessarily any activities run. There wasn't anything today either, at least not until it was dark.

The sun was shining brightly today, and most of them were probably getting sunburnt.

"You okay there Sammy?" Gabe asked, looking at where Sam was exhausted from the heat.

"Yeah, it's just hot out here," Sam replied, running a hand through his hair.

"It's fine down here," Dean called from the water.

"He's right, that would cool you down," Gabe said, looking at Sam with that look he has, the one where you just know he's about to do something.

"Don't you dare," Sam said, moments before Gabe lunged forward and grabbed him, before throwing him into the lake. Sam yelped as he hit the water, and Gabe was left smirking on the pier.

"Why do you like him?" Dean asked as Sam surfaced.

"I don't even know," Sam said, but he had this small loving smile. Gabe was looking down from the pier, and then took a few steps back before running and jumping off the edge shouting Geronimo.

He landed right in the middle of the three, causing a huge splash. He was laughing as he surfaced, and swam over to Sam, wrapping an arm around his waist underwater.

"See, much cooler in here," Gabe said, smiling at Sam. Sam just rolled his eyes with a smile.

Cas had made his way over to the pier and had climbed up, and was now sitting on the edge looking at the three. Dean swam over and climbed up beside him, putting an arm around Cas's shoulders.

"Want to go get a drink?" Dean said, noticing that Cas's cheeks were red from the heat. Or from Dean but either way.

"Yeah," Cas said with a smile and Dean stood, holding his hand out to help Cas up. They walked off, leaving Sam and Gabe in the lake.

"You look sunburnt," Gabe noted, looking at Sam.

"I feel like it too," Sam said. "We should go inside."

Gabe nodded, before swimming over to the shore of the lake, Sam beside him. They walked back to their cabin and relaxed when they got inside. It wasn't much colder, but the sun wasn't shining directly on them anymore.

Gabe looked down at his soaked shirt before pulling it off and not being bothered to get a new one. Sam pointedly looked away, blushing lightly.

"Oh come on Sammy, you saw me shirtless at the beach," Gabe said, smirking slightly as he walked over to Sam.

"That was at a beach," Sam said. "We're inside now."

Gabe shrugged. "It's too hot to wear a shirt. You probably shouldn't either." Sam made this little indignant sound and Gabe just laughed. "Just kidding kiddo. At least get a dry one though." Sam nodded and walked into his room in search of a shirt.

And back to Destiel we go. They'd walked into the hall, where a lot of people were just lazing about, not wanting to go out in the heat. Michael and Lucifer had gotten the mysterious kitchen people who are never spoken of to set up drinks for everyone.

Dean and Cas got a drink, before sitting down against one of the walls. Cas leant against Dean's shoulder, half closing his eyes. Dean just smiled down at him, pressing a kiss to the top of his head.

You know what, let's follow Michifer. Poor idiots, I forced them out in the heat.

"Of all the days," Luci grumbled.

"You could've set it up at any other time," Michael said, pausing for a moment.

"We were doing other things."

"That sounds suggestive."

"Anything can be taken as suggestive."

"True," Michael said, throwing the log down on the pile they had going. It was right in the middle of the camp, between the hall and all the cabins. Luci was trying to clear away anything flammable from the pile, and putting it on the pile instead.

"At least it's worth it," Luci said.

"Just don't let anything else catch fire this time," Michael said, dragging over another log.

"Oh come on, that wasn't my fault."

"You're Satan. Of course it was."

"Just because I wanted that kid to catch fire and he coincidentally did, doesn't make it my fault."

Michael just raised an eyebrow at Luci and Luci shrugged. The two of them stopped working for a moment to inspect the pile of wood they'd made.

"Think it's good enough?" Michael asked.

"Definitely," Luci said. "Now can we please go inside?"

"Nope," Michael said. "You're not done setting up."

"Oh can't I take a break?"

"No."

"Please?"

"No. That's final."

"Taking charge Mikey—"

"If you dare continue whatever you were about to say, I swear to Chuck."

"You'll what?" Luci said with a smirk. "Got a punishment kink?"

"Oh my god why do I even..." Michael just trailed off, sighing. "You're ridiculous."

"No, I'm just trying to stall having to work."

"Okay do I have to force you?"

"I wouldn't complain."

Michael just groaned before walking away, throwing his hands up in defeat. Luci chuckled as he watched him go, before going to actually do what he was supposed to do.

The sun was just about set and Michael and Lucifer were looking at what they'd set up.

They had the pile of wood for the bonfire, and speakers set up out the front of the hall to play music. They always did this on the last official day of camp, it was basically like a giant party.

Dean and Cas was sitting near the speakers, watching the sun set over the lake in the distance. Sam and Gabriel were...being interesting.

Currently they were running away from a random cabin laughing way too much.

"What did you do?" Dean asked.

"There may be a snake in Crowley's bed," Gabe said.

"Oh god he's going to kill you."

"Nah, Luce will protect me."

"No I won't!" Luci called from where he was. Gabe just pouted over at him.

"You're supposed to be my brother!"

"Dad kicked me out!"

"What? When?"

"Thousands of years ago."

Michael just sighed and shoved Lucifer over. "Wrong universe. Shut up."

"You're no fun," Luci said. Michael rolled his eyes, and walked over to the speakers and the iPod plugged into it.

"Guess we should get this started," Michael said, scrolling through the songs before choosing one. The music started playing loudly from the speakers, and all the campers started to gather near the sound.

By now the sun had almost set and it was almost dark. Michael looked over at Lucifer who smirked and used hell fire to light the bonfire.

The pile of wood lit up in flames, reaching about twice the height of anyone there. People cheered, and Michael turned the music up as everyone started dancing and having fun.

"Do you think we could do satanic rituals around the fire?" Gabe asked. "Sacrifice some idiots?"

"Isn't that Lucifer's job?" Sam asked.

"What no, Lucifer doesn't do the sacrificing, we make the sacrifices to him."

"So you want to make sacrifices for your brother?"

"When you put it like, no. I'll just try and summon demons or something."

Sam just shook his head, laughing quietly. Gabe smiled and stood up from where they were sitting, holding a hand out to Sam.

"Care to dance?" he asked with his signature eye brow. Sam smiled and took the hand, and Gabe dragged him off into the mass of dancing people.

Cas was too awkward for this though, he didn't know how to dance. So him and Dean sat off to the side and watched everyone have fun. Although Cas could tell Dean wanted to join in with everyone, he was fidgeting and shifting in his spot a lot.

"Go join them," Cas said, nudging Dean with a smile. "I know you want to."

"But then you're alone," Dean said.

"You know I did survive before you came along. I think I'll live."

"Wow ouch," Dean said, before standing up. "I'll be back." He ruffled Cas's hair before walking off into the crowd, shouting the words for whatever song was on.

What happened throughout the night? Let's see...

Eye of the Tiger came on, and Cas couldn't stop laughing at Dean's ridiculous dance moves and lip syncing. When Dean tried to use his leg as a guitar Cas fell over from laughing too much, and Dean just gave him this little sheepish smile.

Lucifer took sticks from the bonfire and made them into a pentagram. Michael stopped him before he could summon a demon. Crowley was for some reason stuck inside the flaming pentagram though. Michael helped him escape before anyone could question it.

Gabriel climbed up onto the roof of the hall and started shouting out words for a song. Michael tried to get him down but gave up when Lucifer joined him.

Gabe chuckled as Sam climbed onto the roof next to him, smiling widely. Dean appeared a few moments later, pulling a wary Cas up beside him. Michael just looked up at the five of them before shrugging and joining them.

"I love this song!" Dean yelled as a new song started playing.

"Oh we all love this song," Gabe said as Dean started lip syncing it with stupid dancing.

"Come on guys, join in," Dean said with a smile. "You have to know the words..."

"And if we don't?" Gabe asked.

"I'll push you off the roof."

"You wouldn't."

"I don't think it's possible not to sing the words," Luci said as the chorus got near.

Gabe couldn't help it, he shouted out the words along with Dean and Luci.

"WOOAH WE'RE HALFWAY THERE, WHOOAA LIVIN' ON A PRAYER!"

Sam was just laughing at them as Gabe put his arm around Sam's shoulder, and Sam joined in. Michael followed a few moments later, not being able to help it. Cas just stood at the back, smiling fondly at his family.

"Come on Cas," Dean said, grabbing Cas's hand and pulling him to the edge of the roof where all of them were standing, shouting out over the crowd. "You know the words."

Cas just shook his head, laughing slightly. "Dean no."

"Come oooon," Dean said, smiling happily. "Just one chorus."

Cas just shook his head, before joining in with the rest of them.

They sang the rest of the song horribly out of tune, but they were so hyped and happy that they didn't care.

After that they got off the roof, and went back into the crowd. Cas let Dean pull him along this time, doing his own little awkward dance.

The next song to come on was 7 Years, and within moments Gabriel shouted out on top of everything.

"THAT SONG'S DEPRESSING TURN IT OFF!"

When no one did, Gabe snapped his fingers and the song changed. No one noticed. Except Sam but he was used to it.

Angel With A Shotgun started playing and Dean immediately turned to Cas, who's eyes had lit up as the song started playing.

"I love this song," Cas said, his awkward dancing turning slightly less awkward as he enjoyed the song. Dean chuckled and held Cas's hands, joining him in somewhat awkward dancing. They were both laughing at their stupidness though, and Cas was quietly singing the words to the song.

The next song was Shake It Off. Dean just kinda laughed and started singing words that weren't the actual words.

"But I keep cruising, black Impala grooving, it's like I got this angel," Dean looked at Cas as he sang that, bringing a hand up to his cheek. "By my side, saying It's gonna be alright." Cas smiled at him, and then leaned up to kiss Dean softly.

At some other point during the song Dean shoved Crowley over, said he just felt he had to do it.

Heat of the Moment came on later and Gabe got up on the roof, shouting the words way too loudly. Sam was watching with a fond smile, not having heard the song hundreds of times. Gabe beckoned for Sam to come up onto the roof and Sam just shook his head with a smile as he did so.

Gabe took Sam's hand as they stood on the roof edge, still having fun singing the words. Sam laughed before joining in quietly, to Gabe's delight.

A certain song by Kansas started playing, but Michael skipped it. Because there were still five days left. This wasn't over yet.

Eventually people started to get tired, and Michael took this as a cue to do his whole end of camp speech thing.

He turned the music down, and climbed up onto the roof, and yelled out a few to catch everyones attention.

"As you all know," he said loud enough that everyone could hear him over the faint music and crackling of the bonfire. "This is the last official day of camp. Most of you will be leaving tomorrow, some might stay the week." He looked at the Novak's and Winchester's as he said this.

"We may never see each other again after today, we may have made the closest of friends. Maybe the camp changed something in your life for the better," Michael smiled over at Luci. "Or maybe you thought it sucked. Either way, we're at the end of this adventure. So here's all I have to say. Here's to us, and to one hell of a summer."

Everyone cheered, and Michael jumped down from the roof to where Luci was standing.

"Changed life for the better huh," Luci teased. Michael just smiled and pulled Luci into a hug.

"Definitely," he said quietly.

After that, the music was turned off and the bonfire faded away. Everyone went to their cabins, some people packing for their departure the next day.

Cas and Dean, Sam and Gabe, went to sleep dreading the upcoming day when they would have to leave.

Late update I know, there was a last minute decision to go to a convention that destroyed my weekend plans of writing...but hey, it's a pretty long chapter :P

If you can't tell, I'm currently listening to some of those songs. And it's late at night. So fourth wall breaks xD

Oh I met the actress who plays Jess :P She's tall...it's unfair. And Isaac from Teen Wolf. And I spent way too much money. Supanova it was, it's like comic con :P

*Gives everyone chips or crisps or whatever the hell you call them*
