20 - Capture the Flag

Week 3/4, Day 20 of 26 - I don't even know what day

Nevermind, figured it out, it's Saturday

Cas woke to Dean's arm lazily around his stomach, his face pressed the back of Cas's head. Cas smiled and rolled over so that he was facing Dean.

His movement woke Dean, and Dean wearily opened his green eyes to look happily at Cas.

"I like waking up with you here," Dean said sleepily. "'S nice."

"You're worried," Cas said, tilting his head with a frown. "About next week."

Dean sighed. "I feel like I just started to get to know you Cas...I don't want to throw that away."

"Don't worry about it, it'll...it'll be fine," he lied. Because Cas could tell, he could see from the way Sam and Dean were acting that this wasn't just a matter of keeping in touch. "Just enjoy the last week we have, okay?"

Dean nodded, trying to smile slightly. "We should get up."

"We should," Cas said.

Neither of them moved, and Dean chuckled.

"You lazy idiots, get out here!" Gabe yelled from the other room, followed by Sam's laughing. Dean looked at Cas with an evil look before shoving him out of the bed. Cas was expecting it and pulled Dean with him, both of them crashing to the floor. They were laughing as they sat up and Cas tried to push away the thought that this wouldn't last forever.

"Alright," Michael called. "This our last time out in the forest."

"You've all done pretty well not dying so far," Lucifer said. "Except for those guys murdered by the readers."

"Luci shut the hell up."

"Language Michael."

"Shut up Cap."

"Who does that make you, Bucky or Tony?"

"Don't even start. We were trying to explain a thing."

"Right," Luci said. "Now, everyone knows how to play capture the flag. You guys can choose the teams..."

"But Sam and Gabriel have to be on separate teams," Michael said. "Same with Dean and Cas."

"No more teaming of the ships," Luci said.

"Oh come on," Gabe called. "I'm not gonna go against my armrest here." Sam shoved Gabriel into Cas, who then fell into Dean, who then just fell over.

"Woah it's like dominoes," Sam said dramatically.

"We're not its," Dean said. "Bitch."

"Jerk," Sam replied immediately, helping Gabe up. Gabe then proceeded to lean on Sam. "I don't even know why I bother."

"Neither Samantha," Gabe said.

"Okay anyway," Michael called out. "Make teams."

Michael and Lucifer stood back as every started forming into two even groups.

"Did you really just say language?" Michael asked Luci.

"I was quoting," Luci said.

"Yeah I'm still gonna hold it against you."

"Oh come on Mikey."

Michael just smiled at Luci, before looking back at where there was two groups of people.

"Okay," Michael said. "You guys come with me." He gestured to one group. "The other go with Luci. We'll walk you to the base and the flag, you have ten minutes to discuss strategy. Then we begin. Luce, you got the timer?"

Luci nodded, and then both started a ten minute timer on their phone at the same time, before leading their groups into the forest.

"I wanted to be with Cas," Dean muttered to Sam.

"Oh stop complaining," Sam said. "I'm your brother you know, you should want to spend time with me too."

"I do, but Cas," Dean said as if that was a liable excuse.

"I know," Sam said. "We have a week left with them."

"Isn't there some way Dad would let us keep talking to them?"

"You know how he is Dean," Sam said, sighing. "Look you said it yourself, you're eighteen. Get custody over me and we can go find them."

"Easier said than done," Dean said. "I'm pretty sure we need a reason to do that, and wanting to go live with our boyfriends won't count as one. Dad hasn't done anything bad...he just needs time to accept it."

"You said that a year ago," Sam muttered.

"It could be worse," Dean said. "He's not abusive, he just..."

"He just thinks it's wrong," Sam growled. "That there's something wrong with us."

"Oh come on Sammy," Dean said. "Give him a break."

"Always arguing for him," Sam muttered. "Come on Dean."

"You know he's been through a lot," Dean said sadly. Sam's expression changed at that, and he looked down sadly.

"Yeah I know," Sam said quietly.

"Anyway," Dean said. "We just missed the entire plan for capture the flag. Want to go wing it with the awesomeness of the Winchester's?"

"Definitely," Sam said with a smile, just before Michael called out for the end of the ten minutes, and the team dispersed. Michael glanced over to where they clearly hadn't been listening.

"You know what, do whatever you want," he said. "Just get us that flag." Sam and Dean nodded, and ran off through the forest.

Sam and Dean ran through the trees, going to the far left where they wouldn't run into many people from the opposite team. They managed to get all the way to the flag, where they saw Gabe and Cas guarding it.

"Why do we have to stay here?" Gabe was whining. "I mean come on."

"Because you won't be able to run fast enough to get the flag," Cas said. "You're too lazy."

"Shut up."

"Okay," Dean said to Sam. "I'll tackle Cas, you get the flag, Gabe should be too lazy to run after you."

"You just want to tackle Cas," Sam said.

"Maybe," Dean said with a smirk before running away from their hiding spot and tackling a shocked Cas to the ground. Sam laughed and ran out, grabbing the flag from it's spot as Gabe was too lazy to do anything about it.

"Gabriel, chase him!" Cas yelled from where he was pinned under Dean. Gabe ignored him, he was too busy laughing at him. Sam did pause to laugh at the two of them, before Gabe looked at Sam and did start chasing him. Sam made a sound and started running back to their base with the flag.

Gabriel's lazy. That doesn't mean he can't run.

Eventually he caught up to Sam and grabbed him, pulling the flag from his grip. Trying to at least. Now they were both holding the flag, just standing there.

"Well," Gabe said. "Now what?"

"Now you let go of the flag," Sam said, smiling.

"Nah I'm pretty sure that's what you're supposed to do," Gabe said.

"Nope," Sam said, before leaning up to kiss Gabe softly. Gabe responded, his grip on the flag loosening enough for Sam to yank it away from him, running off into the forest laughing.

"That's not fair!" Gabe yelled after him, chasing him down again.

Sam managed to get all the way back to the base without Gabe catching him, and put the flag down next to his own. Gabe stopped running, trying to catch his breath.

"All that running for nothing," he muttered. Sam just smiled at him, before walking over to wrap his arms around Gabe. Gabe looked down at him with surprise. "What's with the sudden clinginess?"

"I don't want to let go," Sam muttered against Gabe's shirt.

"You won't have to," Gabe said, wrapping his arms around Sam and pulling him closer.

Michael walked back to the base at that point, and just looked at them once with a slight smile.

"New rounds starting," Michael said. "Gabe take your flag back." Gabe nodded, and gently pried Sam away from him.

"Don't worry kiddo," Gabe said. "We'll work things out." Sam just gave him a sad look.

This round Sam and Dean actually listened to Michael's plan, but seeing as they'd gotten the flag last time Michael just let them do whatever again. Dean said they should stay near the flag since Cas wanted revenge on them.

Sam and Dean sat next to the flag as the round started again, and Michael walked off into the forest.

They talked about meaningless stuff until true to his word, Cas appeared, glaring at Dean.

"Hey Cas," Dean said with smile. "How are you?"

"Great," Cas said bluntly, looking at the flag. "Can I have the flag?"

"I'm afraid I can't do that," Dean said, standing up. Sam stood up too, standing protectively next to the flag as Dean walked over to Cas.

"Oh come on," Cas said, still glaring. Dean chuckled.

"What happened to wanting to team with us?"

"We were put on different teams."

Sam saw Gabe through the trees, trying to sneak around and just smirked, getting in the way of him and the flag. Gabe sighed as he realized he'd been seen.

"Your genius plan failed Cassie," he said, walking forward to stand beside Cas.

"It was a long shot," Cas said, shrugging, and watching where Dean and Sam were standing. Sam was off guard now that Gabe was there, and had come to stand beside Dean. Still in between them and the flag, but not right next to it. Cas suddenly started sprinting, grabbing the flag before either of the Winchester's could react and running off towards his base. He heard a shout from Dean and running footsteps behind him, and laughed softly to himself.

Unfortunately Dean can run faster than Cas and caught up to him. Cas accepted defeat, and threw the flag to Gabe who had been running beside him as Dean knocked him down.

"Dammit Cas," Dean said, but was smiling as he looked down at Cas. "That was the plan all along wasn't it?"

"Yep," Cas said with a smile. "Somewhat of a genius, remember?"

"How could I forget?" Dean said, standing up and pulling Cas to his feet. Cas smiled at him, before leaning up to kiss him softly.

A few minutes later Sam walked past them carrying the flag. "Round ended," he said, smiling at the couple. "We have to go back to base."

"Always ruining the fun," Dean muttered to Sam. Cas chuckled and started walking back off to his own base.

"Okay," Michael said when Sam and Dean had returned and their whole team was there. "This round, more of you stay back to protect the flag. Sam and Dean, you come with me." Everyone nodded, and waited for the round to start.

Michael, Sam and Dean went straight to the other teams base, avoiding anyone they saw and running to escape being caught. When they got to the other teams base, the flag wasn't there.

"What?" Dean said. Cas and Gabe were sitting there, looking bored.

"The flag wasn't taken," Gabe said. "Just saying."

Michael sighed. "Every damn time. Luce has it, doesn't he?"

"Yep," Cas said. Dean went and sat down beside Cas, and Sam shrugged before following to sit beside Gabe.

"Seriously you guys?" Michael asked Sam and Dean.

Dean shrugged. "I don't want to be there when you start making out with Luci."

Michael just rolled his eyes before walking off through the trees, searching for wherever Lucifer was hiding the flag. He always did this when they played capture the flag.

Eventually he found him, not too far from the base.

"Mikey, I see you found me," Luci said with a smirk.

"Where's the flag?" Michael asked, looking around. Lucifer pointed up and Michael saw it in the branches of a tree. "Oh come on."

"Good luck getting that," Luci said with a smirk, leaning back against a tree. Michael just sighed and walked over to the tree the flag was in, trying to climb up the branches. He did it, very slowly and with great difficulty, eventually reaching the flag.

"You know," Luci said. "You should totally stay up there. I've got a great view from down here."

"You're an idiot," Michael said.

"You wouldn't love me if I wasn't," Luci said with a smile. Michael rolled his eyes with a smile before jumping down from the tree with the flag. "And I'm afraid I'm going to have to take that back."

"You know I can run faster than you," Michael said, backing away with the flag in this hands.

"Not while my entire team is waiting to ambush you," Luci said with a smirk. Michael narrowed his eyes before turning and running, Luci chasing after him.

Luci was right, literally his entire team was waiting to steal the flag back from Michael. But Sam and Dean had come to help him, and they were throwing the flag between them as they ran, stopping anyone from catching whoever had the flag.

They made it all the way back to their base, winning the round and therefore the game. The team cheered, high fiving each other.

"Good game," Luci said, holding his hand out to Michael.

"Since when are you a good sport?" Michael said, taking the hand to shake. Luci pulled him close, close enough that their noses were touching.

"Since a certain idiot stopped denying things," Luci said, leaning in to kiss Michael softly. The teenagers around them either cheered or gagged. The ones who gagged where then chased off by Gabriel who was yelling about ships.

Luci and Michael broke apart, laughing at their little brother. Cas and Dean were standing close together, and Sam was watching Gabe with a fond smile.

But this summer wasn't going to last forever.
