chapter one > learning how to fly

Adventure awaits you...

...Learning how to fly is the first step...

A headache surged through your head as you tried to open your eyes. You felt something poking your face, bells and twinkling noises were heard just barely though. The struggle to open your eyes was real but soon you were able to see the blur that was there and there was figure in your field of vision.

A golden glow was what you saw and green clothes, your vision became clearer, you could see transparent wings, short blond hair and blue eyes staring at you.

You flinched as your eyes widened a bit. You got a better look at who or what was waking you up at least was trying to. A male fairy with blond hair and blue eyes was staring at you with a confused yet concerned expression on his face.

Wait, what?! You sat up, a bit to quickly. Your head pounded. You groaned, you placed your hand on your head, trying to somehow make the pain go away. You felt a slight touch to your hand. You flinched as you looked over seeing the fairy's concerned expression.

"I gotta be dreaming yet I don't remember falling asleep," You said. "I remember reading a book in the library and..." You paused, you couldn't remember anything else after that.

Twinkling sounds came from the fairy grabbing your attention. "Yep, I gotta be dreaming..." You said.

The fairy frowned as he flew up to you and tugged at your hair. You yelped in pain. "Hey! What the hell! Why did you do that?" You exclaimed.

He smirked at you, folding his arms over his chest. It was like he was telling you that this was totally not a dream.

"So, I'm actually here. Well, wherever I am," You said. "And that begs the question, where am I if you don't mind me asking?" You asked the fairy.

There was a slight language barrier between the two of you. He could understand you but you couldn't understand him. Mostly because he was so small. Charades wasn't getting you anywhere but what you did get was his name, Tinker Bell. But you decided to just call him Tink.

His name was similar to that of Tinker Bell from Peter Pan as well as his appearance yet he was male. Which you mentioned Peter briefly, which made Tink frown and pout slightly. You questioned it with a teasing tone of voice.

"You don't want me to mention Peter? Not friends anymore?" You asked.

Tink nodded at you, confirming your question. Thought that answered another question you had. 'I guess only the guys aren't genderbended but then again I don't know that for sure.' You thought.

What you gathered from Tink, you have somehow appeared here on Neverland. He found you shortly after he was exiled by Peter. Yet the real question was how you got here and how you were going to get back home. You had friends and family that you wanted to get back to.

"Tink?" You got the fairy's attention, he looked at you with smile acknowledging that he was listening. "Is there away off this island?" You asked.

Tink raised an eyebrow at you. He looked at you like you were stupid or something.

"What's that look for? I'm being serious." You said.

He rolled his eyes at you as he decided to explain to you with charades. He pointed to his wings then he pointed to the sky. Oh!

"Right, the only way to leave Neverland is to fly. But I can't fly well not anymore." You said.

You remember fondly the memories of trying to fly after watching Peter Pan as a kid, it was a nice memory, a happy one at that. Tink smiled at this like he knew as he sprinkled his pixie dust on you and you started drift up into the air.

A yelp of surprise left your lips as the ground got farther and farther away. Tink flew after you, looking very proud of himself.

"T-Tink! Warn me next time!" You yelled.

Tink laughed and you frowned. "Okay..." You sighed trying calming your nerves. "At least I'm not afraid of heights..." You said.

Trying to regain your balance in the air after flipping around a couple of times, you took in the view, surveying around to seeing which direction you should go in. You frowned, crossing your arms over your chest.

"Nothin' but water, Tink," You said. "What now?" You asked Tink.

Tugging at your shirt, trying get your attention. You turned towards him as he pointed at the stars in sky.

"Right! The second star on the right and straight on til morning! Thank you, Tink. I'm grateful for your help." You exclaimed.

Tink's eyes widened and was quick to stop you, he honestly didn't know why. There was something about you that drew him to you. You were kind and patient, though Tink didn't know you very well but he wanted to.

"What is it, Tink?" You asked him.

Tink felt a bit shy at this moment as he looked down at his hands, playing with his fingertips, he didn't know how to ask this. He wanted to be by your side for a bit longer. Forget Peter, he'd rather be around someone who appreciates him. Then, finally, he points to himself then he points to you. He mentally crossed his fingers hoping you were able to figure out what he was asking. He also hoped that you didn't turn him away.

"Oh!" Your exclamation perked up the fairy. Did you figure out what he was trying to say? Man, you're not just patient, you sure are smart.

"You want to come with me? Is that it?" You said.

Tink smiled as he started nodding his head rapidly. He flew around your head excitedly as you laughed at his enthusiasm. Holding your hands out in front of you, the fairy landed in your palms. Bring him up to your face, you smiled at him.

"Okay then! I hope we make a great team together, Tink!" You said.

He saluted you as he flew off your palms. He started his way to the second star as he waved his hand in a way that said "let's go!"

"Lead the way, Tink! I'm right behind you!" You exclaimed as you flew after Tink.

You wondered to yourself, why were you here? There had to be a reason, right? Well, whatever it is, your main focus at the moment is to find a way to get back home. More like hope.
